BTW for all of you who have seen the movie now...Who was that lady at the end?
This is a nod to the Aliens fans who keep up with some of the Alien Universe back story. That woman at the end was Ms. Yutani. The actual name of "The Company" that was in the Alien films is Weyland-Yutani. In Alien vs Predator, Charles Biship Weyland owns the Weyland Corporation. It has been stated that Yutani is the name of a Japanese woman who merged her company with the Weyland Corporation to create the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. There are little nods to the Japanese portion of Weyland-Yutani in Alien 3 by having some of the language that is on various things inside the prison be written in Japanese. Having her at the end of the film kind of completes the circle if you will to Weyland-Yutani's knowledge of the Alien's existence prior to the events in the movie Alien.
I thought this movie was very enjoyable. I kept saying "F*ck yeah!" and "He's a bad ass!" to myself several times during the film in reference to the Predator. If you are an Aliens and Predator fan definitely go see this movie. It has some seriously cool fights in it. One thing to keep in mind though, is that this film did not have a large budget. Colin Strause, one of the directors, told us that it was less than $40 million. The budget for the first AvP film was $60 million and the budget for Alien: Resurrection was $70 million. In my opinion this film is better than both of those. But like Cabal said, they need to commit more money and time into producing an Aliens vs Predator movie in space with the Colonial Marines in it as well.
Like I said, I enjoyed this movie and I am sure I will go see it again. On another note, there are a couple of things in this movie that really disturbed me. I can't recall being disturbed like this since I saw the scene in the original Alien.
