Sweet car, but shape shifting abilities? Dunno about that. When KITT came out originally in 1983, Pontiac got inuindated with requests for a Firebird done just like KITT, cyclon scanner and everything. Pontiac at the time didn't have an all black model, so they asked the producers to strip all the Pontiac logos off. Wonder if Ford will have the same problems...

I liked the old "new" Knight Rider show.

Maybee it can form blades out of the sides, or even opens its boot and a booster Rocket system comes out. GM must have been under enourmous pressure to have released that Ironhide truck so soon after the movie.

Silliness in a nod to tradition is one thing, and I don't need some kinda hyper realistic plausibility. But the Hoff always seem to have this desire to get a remake pushed through with utterly pointless drama and technobabble so horrendously bad even a kid would gag. I just hope any involvement on his part is limited to being unrelated to the writing.

Hmm.. I didn't know KARR, in his first appearance, was voiced by Peter Cullen. But then I think I only ever caught the second appearance multiple times in reruns after he picked up the distinguishing paintjob.

Now before I dish out a flaming this POS show so richly deserves, just let me ask one question. if the other KR shows crashed & burnt what the hell makes any one think this ones gonna be any differant?
every encarnation of Knight Rider has been a disaster! & what's up w/that big ass ford stang? the thing looks like a throw back to mussle cars. not that I have a problem w/mussle cars, its just that KITT has never been about that. KITT is about state of the art high tech, stealth & persicion.
in other words, the stang turns me off the same way the "Bat Tank" in Batman Beguins turned me off. I know I know, the bat tank was a big hit w/the fans. but IMO that was just mens testosterione talking. the Mustang is to clumsy looking.
how ever I did read that it will have the power to morph. now I don't know if that means only its haul will morph, or if it will have TFing applications.
frankly I'm wondering if it will morph & sprout animal apendages. kinda like TF-ing in to a type of wolf or maby lion creature like the 2nd Ravage alternator. that might be cool, but it could also suck ass.
the problem w/all the KR show has been how to bring the car w/the star when there not on the road. I mean dude has to get out & go inside offices buildings & such right. & as soon as that happens the star of the show looes there suporting actor element.
that's why over the tears they have tryied to give the KITT car some kind of personal connection to the star. the worst of this was KR 2000. that's the one where they tryied to say dudes girlfriend's mind got transfered in to the car some how. LAME!!!
In short, I'm sure this lastet pice of Hollywood crap will draw a few viewers purly on FX alone.
but soon after that we'll all see the "complete boxset series" (all one & ahalf seasons of it), on a shelf for $19.99

well its true I was'nt an regular watcher. so you might have a point. all I realy remember about the thing was that it took place in some kind of "post apoclyptic world", & the car's operating systems has something to do w/his dead girlfriend.
also the car spoke w/his girlfriends voice, have I got that right?

I remember "Viper" was toterabe. but when it started doing that off road thing, it lost my attention. even the original KR "jumped the shark" when it brought in T.C. the getto greas monkey, who then proceded to do the WORST "Pimp my Ride" by introduseing that rediculas SUPER PERSUIT MODE!
Poor KITT looked like a fat black pig flying down the road evey time the Huff used it.
you know what I realy want from a Knight Rider show? I want every eps to have that same "dark & forboding" feeling I use to get when the original show's opening credits would run.
the way that mysterious nondiscript (yet high tech), car would emerge out of the desert.
one ominious red all seeing eye moveing back & forth. window PITCH BLACK! not realy know if the car drives its self, or is there a "dark rider" on board.

I pretty much disavow all knowledge of the attempted sequels ever existing, as I hope this remake does. However, my interest has increased sufficiently to consider watching the pilot when it hits.

Crap... all this time I thought that was supposed to be the new Firebird that was released about the same time, thought the movie was done as an advertisement for the new car.... turns out it was a modified Dodge Stealth? My world is shattered... lol

BUT! in my defence I will say this. I DID & DO remember watching one or two eps of Team Knight Rider, & that was wack! moter cycles, cars, boats & all of what not. all being driven by what could be described as thoes who didn't make the Bay watch cut.
also in my defence that if any of the KR sequel shows were any damn good, then why did they crash & burn? some one out there must have felt just as I do (a few some ones judgeing from the lack of rateings).

Cause KR fans get too holed up in the past, for a series to advance it needs to change and grow. Look at DS9 and VOYAGER, both of those started out simple and became darker, they changed rapidly they gained newer fans due to their rapidly different vibe. Team Knight Rider had massive potential but in all honesty it seemed not to have the support in writing and budget. The concept was sound, the ideas were there, the storys were pretty good but they ended up with cheesy lines.

well if you say so. but IMO KR should now & forever be a solo mission show. its supose to be about a man w/ a mysterious tourcherd past (well the torcherd part is my idea), but you get the concept.
when you make it all about "Team work", not only does it make me wanna gag, but it kills the whole "dark justice" thing for me.

Thought the wikipedia page described it well: a sortuva sci-fi version of the Lone Ranger style western. It was very.. '80s-ified.

I think the idea is very doable in an "updated to the modern era" way, even with more than just one guy + car. Just think mosta the previous attempts have been either poor ideas or poor executions. After reading the KR2000 page, it sounded like it had a decent premise. But the "car so RED you gotta wear shades" is almost blinding. Black really fits not only KITT's personality but the role he and his driver play.

And, yes, that did suck. But it is Knight Rider in name only, as the plot literally has no connection to the elements of Knight Rider - No Micheal Knight, no KITT, in fact no Knight Industries at all. And the post-apocalyptic setting couldn't possibly be 10 years after the events of Knight Rider 2000, meaning it exists in a different universe entirely.


I think the new show will have to ignore everything other than the original series...the timeline would be too convoluted if it contained any of the other attempted sequels.

Ooh, i hate you, i cannot WAIT to see this. and from what i heard on various KR forums the original KITT or at least parts of him will be in this movie. there is a guy named Rob Louisell is authorized by universal studios to sell parts that turn firebirds into KITTs as well as complete turn key cars. he supplied NBC and Universal with a hood, dash, rear bumper (with KNIGHT plate) for customizer George Barris to build one for the project.
