How did old Megs get a piece of the discs that Dinobot destroy to pieces? Why didn't DB's maximal buddies retrieve the pieces so Megs would have trick Ravage to help him and release him?

The Golden Disk was destroyed shortly before the Maximal reinforcements arrived with Megatron leaving upon their arrival. During this time Megatron would've been able to nab a surviving shard (or more?) of the Golden Disk and leave.

A bigger WOOPS to consider: How did Megatron and Soundwave get on the Ark, anyway? In the original cartoon they crashed in the Nemesis and were revived in the Nemesis. Possibly a boarding party to the Ark before they ran out of Energon and collapsed and then Primal moved the misplaced Transformers so G1 could occur?

Uh, all the 'cons but the Insecticons were onboard the Ark when it crashed...

In both the G1 cartoon and comics, the Decepticons boarded the Ark where they battled until it crashed in Mount Saint Hilary.
