The local Bart Smit (Dutch toystore) had these on sale since last month. Bought 2 boxes then and 6 more today along with the Starterset. Been holding that one off even though another store did have it at 7 Euro. Glad I did as I got it for just 5 Euro (original price 15!) and the booster boxes are 2.50 each.
For that price I figured they were worth picking up.
Last time I was fortunate enough to find Megatron in vehicle mode which apparantly is the second most rare figure in the set. But in the 6 boxes I bought today I found two more! So much for him being rare. Also got 2 Insecticons and 3 Rodimusses. But those two are not particularly rare.
The oddest thing however is that my Landmine has a silver base! Anyone ever seen that?
Anywhoo, these are reasonably nice. Not like the Legends of Robot Heroes but for a low price, they are neat purchases.

There are 3 different base colors I think. Regular silver and copper/gold/bronze whatever. The other colors are like "parallels" ala baseball cards. They are more rare than the regular black base ones. I don't know if those ones are more powerful (statwise) than the black base ones tho.

Once the G1 and Beasties come out I may start collecting them.

Doubt that will happen. They sell poorly.
But what does one expect, a starter set cost 15 Euro ($20) and a booster cost 9 Euro. No one is going to pay that for models that only look "ok".
If they looked great like the Titaniums them I kinda can see how people would buy them (still not at 9 Euro though) but these, sorry no. I only bought them as they are now 1.25 each. I figured that was doable.

I wouldn't take them for free. They look terrible.

Just looked at my doubles again, hoping for more differently colored bases and one of the Megatrons in vehicle mode also has a silver base! Neat though I would have been super excited if I actually collected these rather than buy them cause they are cheap.

This is an unfortunate test to see if trading figures could be as popoular in the US as it is in Japan.

more or less. the crappy thing is that they made Attacktix and the PMG (pocket model game), when they could have done much better i think. Remember this is the same company that owns Wizards of the Coast (people who make MTG and Pokemon). I'll pick up the Attacktix when i can find them cheap and on ebay.

I hate trading crap. It was fun with X-men cards for about 6 months when I was 13. But that was a $1 for 10 cards. This $6 for 2 card figs or random Figures doesn't work. I actually thought the attactix toys were kinda neat, but I don't need 20 of one kind even to play the game.

The doubles are annoying.
Why not simply limit the amount of strong figures one can use in a game so people need not buy more of those and leave them.
