Insanely popular among what demographic? I only found out about it after I signed up here.

It was marketed toward 9 and up. The original version was considered 14 and up, so basically you have DBZ fans in nearly every age group.
This is, of course, only counting the US. In japan it was so Powerglideing huge it's not funny.
I only ended up watching the ENTIRE series from Dragonball----->DBZ----->DBGT cause a mate liked it, I have also seen all the episodes in Japanese thanks to him. If you saw one English ep and the same ep in Japanese, the stories were so different. Its kind of like Star-Wars. Take it with its original dialogue and its a mix of Spagghetii Western and Sci-Fi, record Shakespere over it and you could have Richard III and McBeth. There are also vital plot points in the movies that are not explained in the series. There are many MANY charachtors who go from HATING Goku to suddenly "Oh hi how are you

" and many "How do we do this" to next 2 eps "Oh we need to put X into X".
For me there is every hope for this movie. For those who are saying "Oh but isnt he too young/thin" Well Goku was thin verry thin till he started to charge up, AAAARGHHHH, Dwane Johnson thickness, AAAARGHH, Brock Lesnar, AAAAARGHHH, The Incredible Hulk sized, FULL MOON, Bigger than any of the skyscrapers of his day Big enough to use King Kong as a toy.
