A lot of us probably want the new animated figs to do well. They have nice sculpts, especially Megatron but many of us stare at them and feel like we are staring at a naked supermodel with bad brown teeth...just one little thing wrong with them in the face department!
So, I was thinking. How hard would it be to digibash the animated figs into looking a bit more, well, "correct" in the eyes of anyone who is, say, over 5 years old?
I have prepared two mock ups for your viewing, ahem, pleasure.
In the Prime example, Ive merely fiddled around with the original head and in the BB example, Ive given him a classics head. Now I'm no Da Vinci, so Im hoping more of you more talented peeps out there will be able to come uo with something much better!
Here are a few pics of the toys for source material:

Ouch. A bit harsh.
Quite frankly, I think the classics BB head looks more out of place than the original head... Prime's face mask doesn't look too bad, though.

I like what you did with prime because I agree that his face looks a bit odd with the super goatee but the animated BB is fine IMO

It could be argued that the head designs (at least) for Animated are broken.
I'm not saying giving Animated BB a Classics head, but something better can be done, IMO.
Just look at his prime. He didn't swap a head, he just gave a faceplate that better conveys "Optimus Prime" then the blue Teen Titans face he currently has.
Something similar in style to what he did for Prime for BB would do wonders.

Im hoping some other peeps can digibash BB's face using their own skills.

I don't know, I guess I'm one of the few willing to accept the fact that these cartoonish proportions are supposed to be just that: cartoonish. As such, to finally see a line that is "show accurate" is a godsend for me.

The Animated Figures should look like...well like their Animated counterparts. That Bumblebee would look weird with a classics styled head.

I think the bodies are too stylized for a g1 type head to work on them. Even more so than the movie figures (which I guess the same thing was said about, but there have been some really good G1 bashes).
Tried G1'ing just the face and I don't even think that worked very well.

Best you can probably do is trim the chins a bit and try to lose the smirk most of them have.

What retread said. For those of us who don't like the high amount of "stylization" (for lack of a better word) of TFA, it can't be toned down with just transplanting the heads. Because now you get clashing aesthetics. Prime's faceplate looked okay, but that's probably due to the fact that you used the same TFA head as a base.

I'm with those who say they are fine. there supposed to be cartooney and personally I like BB's head. It fits his Personality he has in the Cartoon. the classics head makes him look waaaaaaay too old (no offense) and shortening it only makes it seem improportioned. After having to make all those really serious movie characters (not to well, i might add) I think this is hasbro's way of blowing off steam. but I do like the Prime change. The Animated prime completely DOES NOT remind me of the prime we all know and love. But, thats just my opinion.

well, not bashing anyone here, if i dont like the toys, i just dont buy them, i see no pint in buying a tfa bumblebe, if my sole intent is to change it, maybe if i have some inspiration. I have only bought 2 movie toys and both were arcee, I just dont like the movie style, and thus far I am not liking the Animated style either. thats why I bought the hell out of alts and classics. I do however like the prime w/mask , over w/o mask. the only tolerable no mask prime would be if they made him "primal"

If you're going to make an Animated Prime into the G1 version I'd recommend using the Battle Begins version as a base. It's already got the facemask and looks very similar to G1 Prime in most other ways, too. All you'd really have to do is remove the "battle damage" and either paint over or remove the siren lights.
Then you can send me his axe so that when I get Voyager Prime I can give him a show-accurate weapon without having to buy a second figure.

I don't think you can make these figures "not cartoony" for the most part.
You COULD change the STYLE of cartooniness.
I'd suggest getting a MyClone Bumblebee head and adjusting the paintjob a bit.
Though, really, the G1-ish repaint that would excite me the most would be Animated Prowl as a G1-ish Highway patrol motorcycle or possible Bluestreak and/or Smokescreen redecoes of the motorcycle.

Yuck.
Animated Prowl has nothing to do with G1 Prowl at all, aside from the name and the crest on his head. I don't see any need to link the two together, especially not to G1 Prowl's protoform buddies. Now if you were using Jazz as the base, and gave it Prowl's head...

Jin did some animated figs, most notably, skywarp, with a shorter face, giving more of a g1 vibe than the jay leno/jimmy hill look his original mold had.
I say the kids buying the toys wouldnt care if the animated bot toys had this look and most fans would like it like this too.
