Full Version: So, hey, I'm publishing a comic

Father Time
I once started a magazine for my university department, since there was none. With my faculty being the one of Arts, and the department being English, I thought it was high time, and in fact, a must, for it to have it's own magazine. Although it was my idea, I know I'm far better in being second-man, telling people what to do best, but without the responsibility, so I talked someone else in taking that responsibility.
The magazine has now been published two times, and the third issue is near completion. It has now attracted its own illustrator, and we were talking during a meeting, and I came up with the idea of a comic. After the meeting, said illustrator came to me, and told me he thought it was an interesting idea, and that he was willing to work with me on it.

All that is left for me is to come up with a plot. tounge1.gif

I have a couple of ideas, but there is a european tendency to have the comics to be more of a sit-com variant, with a joke being told in about 4 panels, than the kind of, let's say "Wanted", or XIII. It's not that I don't like that, but I don't think it fits with my style of writing and the ideas I want to write about. "Powers", for example, would be more my style. However, those examples tend to lean more in the direction of superhero stories, and although my stories tend to be more epic, I'm not quite sure if my audience has any interest in them.

On the other hand, yay!, I might be writing a comic! W00t!

As a person who is also planning on doing illustration/comic work in the future, I must say congrats. I hope it all takes off well for you, and becomes a big project, if that's what you're looking for.
