Yeah, again. :/
at about 4:00-4:30 AM I woke up from the freakish nightmare that follows:

at first I thought it was another Halo 1 dream but I was quickly proven wrong. first I am in a dark room with shelves with random junk on them. Suddenly Covenant start poring through the open doorway in front of me. All I have is an assault rifle and 5 extra clips. no 'nades.

2 Grunts, an elite (enlisted i.e. blue armor), a hunter (ONE?! that's odd, they always come in pairs.ALWAYS.), and a couple of some thing else. Something new, and U-G-L-Y. Was like a flood pure form (stalker type) but it had six stubby legs and was a lot fatter and was covered in that purple-ish covenant armor. All it had for a face was a large gaping maw. they were fast suckers too.

I opened fire on the grunts. the elite had two beam rifles (the covenant sniper rifles. go figure. )
and was pounding my shields. I took down the grunts no problem and murdered the elite with a couple of rifle butts to the cranium (). he dropped an energy sword so I pick it up. Full charge. nice.

I turn to my right. Hunter. Pissed. RUN!!. I flee out the door, slaughtering the two crawlers (that's what I call 'em, those gross covenant things) with the sword on the way out and right into hell: a couple hand fulls of covenant are getting own'D by flood. Lots and lots of flood. Millions. in the corner of my eye I see a dead hunter, or rather what was left of it anyway. but I quickly notice something odd about the flood: they look somehow.......different.




they are badly deformed. some are obviously not infected troops. they look like ...scientists? the hall I'm in is huge,dark and circular, like a pipe. down the hall a ways is a shelf above the hall. from my perspective it looks like a figure eight with the hall making the bottom portion and the top walled off with a little ledge sticking out over the hall. the ceiling rises up to accommodate this feature. in terms of color, its covenant purple.

Well I stomach my trepidation and go to town on the covenant that are focused on me. I slash through a grunt with a plasma rifle, an elite with a covenant rifle (from behind) and a couple of crawlers. I check the charge on the sword. 6%. DANMIT!! I leap up on to the ledge. I look down and a trio of crawlers are crawling up the wall after me. as the first one approaches me I smack it in the mouth with my rifle butt. I hurt it but it retaliates by biting me. takes out 85% of my shields. (holy Blot!) I hit it again and it falls off the wall. the next one emerges in front of me. I hit it and it retaliates
likewise. now my shields are down. I hit it again and it crumples and falls like the first one. the third one is on me in seconds. my shields manage to recharge a little before it gets to me. they are at about 15%. now I'm worried.

I change up tactics and pull out the sword. The crawler appears and I slash it's brains out. that's it for the crawler and my sword. I switch back to my rifle and jump down. I spot another sword 20 meters down the hall. the hall is mostly clear so I high tail it and snatch the sword.

from this point my dream skips ahead a bit and I catch flashes of me running through dark lags of some sort fighting my way through infected scientists and dark hallways full of combat forms. the scientists remind me of zombies a bit but I know they are infected. I just know. I remember seeing a woman in a purple or blue dress but instead of a face she had a giant single eye. I shot it with out thinking. another was a combat form carrying an upper torso of another infected person with the entrails spilling out the bottom and attached to the combat form like some sick version of Siamese twins. nasty.

a third memory involves me running up a narrow hallway and running in to a black man in jeans and a white T-shirt. he turned around and all I saw was a look of pure and absolute terror. Eyes wide and bulging, mouth half open in a silent scream. a second later he mutated before me into one of those...things.

I didn't bother shooting him.
I just ran.

lastly, the final part before waking up:
It seems like hours have passed since the start of the level.
I enter a huge tunnel, easily big enough for a scorpion tank. It's clear of flood or whatever the hell those thing were.
I have a energy sword and an assault rifle with 2 extra clips. must have found more ammo along the way because I would have ran out a long time ago. anyway,I walk along the tunnel to about 3 quarters the way through when a giant three legged THING drops down into the tunnel, blocking my path. it is covered in pale yellow, leathery skin, with folds and wrinkles all over. it's only other feature is an immense mouth, full of tiny razor sharp teeth. a much smaller creature drops down in front of it, almost exactly identical except it has four legs. and is less wrinkly. they start moving toward me screaming and roaring.

Well, I nearly pee myself and do an about face and sprint back the way I came. Shooting it would've only made it mad.
Another one drops in front of the other opening. Daddy must be angry. I look to my left for another way out and I spot a small narrow staircase between a gap in the wall of the tunnel about 10 meters from where I'm standing. I quickly run up it and into a room with four grates in the floor at angles with water flowing into them from a fifth in the wall in front of me. I run to the fifth grate and turn around. there are combat forms and zombie forms running up the stair way toward me. I look down and I see a open hole in front of me. I jump down and into darkness.

Then I wake up.
yeah. guess I won right?

First off, it was like half-life 2 and halo 1 combined. I saw my reflection in a mirror and noticed the lambda symbol on my chest and orange hilights on master cheif's armor. the HUD was different too. like a cross between.

Second, I never found a shot gun. I would have kept it throught the dream.

Third, A bad omen?

Discuss.

I think you need to play Halo less often.

Actualy, I haven't played in a while. I was however plaing Ratchet and Clank : ToD last night before bed.

All my nightmares are about an encroaching darkness that will inevitably consume all of existence in about ten Trillion years.

I'd prefer yours, even still.

You're dreaming about the distant future when all the stars in the universe will burn-out and everything will die an entropic heat death. Don't worry because this is a perfectly natural part of the universal life cycle. Ours is just one universe among an infinite number. Old universes are dying and new ones are being born all the time, so technically, the "darkness" doesn't consume all existence.

Or you're simply dreaming about the Lovercraftian Outer God known as Azatoth.

I thought he was talking about American Idol.

Unfortunately it is what bothers me, but I have always been a "The forest and not the trees" Kind of fellow.
And also Unfortunately we have no proof of other Universes so that is no comfort to me.

Like we even have the technology to detect them if we wanted to. Don't worry, they're out there. We used to think that Earth was the only planet in the Universe but we were proved wrong. And if this Universe is infinite, then it stands to reason that it has an infinite amount of energy in it and will never die a heat death.

Universe isn't infinite, it's 163,000,000,000 light years across.

Hey, don't worry, even if there's no proof at all, God is there for you.

So this nothingness is called _____ ? The rest of the universe?

Punctuated by other self-contained universes. They're like bubbles in an infinite sea of foam.

So what's the "foam" made of?

Well of course, it's not really foam. It will probably be a long time before we figure out what the "foam" really is and how it's converted into self-contained universes, if we ever figure it out at all.

I love how this went form silly halo nightmare to "My Universe is bigger than yours"

More like "Our Universe is but one of an infinite number and if you think otherwise, you're no better than those people who thought that the Earth was the center of the Universe".

I used to have Diablo II type dreams, where I would talk to people but a box would appear above their head and have the words they were speaking in it.

Don't laugh, but sometimes I have nightmares of all my action figures and junk in my room, coming to life, and my table lamp is the leader of the whole thing. They lock my door, I scream for help, but they drag me to the ground, and beat me up. Then they kill me somehow. One night, I dreamed I woke up in the middle of the night, and I ran downstairs, then all of a sudden, a magnent starts pulling me into my room, I run into my parents' bedroom, woke them up, and told them something was after me,

they didn't believe me, so the magnent pulled me into my bedroom, and guess who was behind it. My table lamp. Lol. I also dreamed one time that Optimus and Unicron were fighting in my back yard.

Well, I should say the theory puts it at 163 billion of course.
But yeah, basically a singularity (An event we cannot comprehend) It's basically like what does a black hole look like - We cannot fundamentally know.

As for whether or not the Quantum foam even exists, let alone what it actually is (... Might be) Your guess is pretty much as good as anyone else's.

Waking up to realize I'm buried. And then really waking up to realize I AM BURIED! Only to realize all over again... it's the top bed spread cover pulled over my head. WHICH IS IN MY BURIED COFFIN!



Okay, so my bed isn't really buried... but I did have that experience happen once or twice. Felt quite cozy.
