Given all the wacky ideas floating around for TF2 (the leaked story treatment, etc.), I have to wonder about the Dinobots. Personally, I think they should be in there (robots+dinosaurs=AWESOME!), but if they were, how?
I kind of like the idea of having them as lifeforms built by Sector 7 using TF tech (since they were studying Megs that whole time), but they wouldn't have the same intelligence as the real deal.

As far as visual style goes, I'd say a fusion of the G1 badassery and that pet dinosaur thing from ZOIDS (grr, I can't remember its name)
................no wait, scratch that. Dynobots from Shockwave's spotlight all the way...only technorganic....

While it wouldn't surprise me to see Grimlock - I'm guessing he'd be it as far as dinobots are concerned. Also, I doubt he'll have a dinosaur mode, as I can't really see a reason for it that wouldn't make for a clunky story point (unless he's some kind of triple changer: vehicle, robot, robot dinosaur "fighting mode" or something).

Personally I'd like to see 'em done up the same way as The Dinobots IDW exclusive Comic (where the track down shockwave to early earth) There they take on Fleshy Dino bodies, but eh flesh gets burned off, and presto instant G1 Dinos.. Anyway as Far as the Dinos origin IN the Movie, I'd like to see them as the 1st attemted Transformers made using the Allspark Shard, it cant MAKE transformers OUT of normal machines, but can bring them to life (Matrix anyone) Personally I'd like to see em start as Dino statues and have the "flesh" get removed in battle.

Could they? Probably.
Should they? That's the real question.

I'd settle for Grimlock (only) as a tank and call it a day, but that's just me.

3 protoforms, Grimlock, Slag and Swoop land in the Mission City museum, and scan dinosaur fossils, unaware that they're extinct. Sam and Bumblebee find them wandering about the city, cue humour moment where Sam share's the WTF feeling probably going through the audience, possibly a gag about how being dinosaurs is not being in disguise and some references to Jurrasic park for good measure.
Then, some decepticons start making trouble, so the dinobots head out (followed by BB and Sam), cue fight in which Grimlock pulls out Big-F'in-Sword and slices a decepticon into pieces. By this point the audience will have probably gone from 'WTF' to 'Awesome' so all's good.

as much as i like the Dinobots, I say keep them out of part two. I am hoping that the sequel will be like Empire Strikes Back, meaning its dark and the bad guys win (can't wait to see a combiner, the real devastator or Bruticus even). That way we can get to see the ewoks...I mean dinobots in the third film saving the day and turning the tide against the decepticons.
