I had no idea that there was an "original post". If I had not known, I would not have asked.
I have a friend, Curt from TFsource who was going to be in Tokyo this weekend on business, so the more excuses I could make to go, the better. But I guess it doesn't really matter now that I've finally read the link, thank you by the way. - I'm not so into the "Dojinshi" stuff. If it were an actual "toy show" then that would be different. There is one happening today in Nagoya, so I've decided to go to that one instead now that I have all the info.

...basically a lot of home-made comics and NO TOYS FOR SALE!

I got some pics anyway, and there were a few cool things...full report tomorrow!

There were a few of us western tf fans there. All male, mostly single, a little overweight and completely not interested in any of the women there.

Seriously, one of us there was a gay lad and even he scratched his head at some of the Starscream/Megatron Doujishi or whatever it is, psuedo gay romantic pulp/slash porn comics.

None of us could find a good looking comic, girl or person with any semblance of life there. They were all high-grade otaku.

i asked a bunch of Japanese girls if they had a boyfriend and they said, and I sh1t you not:

"No! ....but we have Optimus Prime as boyfriend! He cool!"

Egads.

Then later on they showed some randowm crappy episode from Tf:Galaxy force (involving all the kids in the artic and not much TF action) and almost every J-Nerd there suddenly hushed up and sat ON THE FLOOR suddenly and watched it as if it was the world premier or somehow they would gain mystical powers from having shared in the experience.

Its not just an Asian thing either. On Filipino (or was he Thai?) guy was as bemused as us.

Mind you, it made us realize that even the most ardent Tf fan here isnt as weird, antisocial or sad as a Japanese Transformers otaku (and Ive met some cool Japanese TF fans) girl.

There were a few cool custom figs...like a Big Convoy made from a Fire Convoy and another Prime made from a Cybertron Defense Red Alert. Plus there was a guy who made an awesome Revoltech Shockwave, amonmg other custom molded parts.

Anyway, it mostly sucked and I have nearly forgotten about it already...

Except that the guy who made the custom revoltech and the other custom TF parts was taking rather too long to actually sell any of his products. The paranoid part of me wondered if it was anything to do with stalling so he wouldnt have to deal/speak to us foreigners, but I suyspect it was mainly due to him "being a bit pants" in his sales skills and organisational abilities.

No, you wouldnt, trust me. Us western transfans that were there were not exactly the epicure of male beauty, what with our beer bellies and tightly stretched Transformers shirts over them, and even WE didnt want to have anything to do with the, what loosely could be called, "female" otaku present.

However, Im sure Metrotitan will post pics to prove us right on this one.

And there were little or no actual toys there. The ones there were fave toys of the fans there and were just mascots on their tables.
