Saw: I liked the first one, the second one was pretty good, but the third one was utter Blot and it looks like the fourth one is going to be more of the same. It's only a matter of time before even the gorehounds get tired of the same-old same-old.
ER: Let it DIE. Please. None of the original cast is there anymore, and adding Uncle Jessie from "Full House" isn't going to help.
Metal Gear Solid: If I wanted to be totally lost and feel like a story jerked me around, I'd read Ayn Rand.

Sounds like some one who needs to play Metal Gear Solid. While catching up on world politics and who really controls nations from behind the curtains. In other words it's a really good story about how intelligence agency's really work, using surreal and unbelievable stories as a back drop.
MGS hasn't run it's course yet! Though if 4 sucks after taking so long I will change my mind. Though I can't see why it would. I wish they would of made 3 part of a separate series. It was cool but it really needs to continue on, so as to bring the original Metal Gear games into line with Solid games.

No, he does a good job with US Intel; not Intel on the whole. Clancy never asks "why does it exist?" "for what and why does Intel do it ?" "why it is so evil like?" and "can it really be done away with?".

And I wholeheartedly agree on the "Reality Shows" having run their course. Of course, when you're spoon-fed nothing but bullBlot for so long, the general public will take whatever they can get. I haven't been excited about network primetime television since the '80's.

I agree. Transformers had ran out of gimmicks since Armada (with Mini-cons being the last distinct gimmick in the TF franchise).
You can argue SW:TF is different. It's not. It's TFs with lame alt modes.
Time to bury Transformers - again.

Powerlinking may have sucked, but it was distinct. The Planet Keys were too.

Well for me, it wasn't the lack of new gimmicks -- if anything, I've disliked all gimmicks, even since during G1 (except for possibly some of the vacuum metalized releases that kinda fit the show, like G2 Bumblebee being gold). It's more the realization that I haven't liked anything about Transformers from the creativity/story side since G1, other than reissues and stuff like alts/classics/mps.

I agree, Powerlinking/Mini-cons are distinct, so no argument on that. Planet key did the same thing - like the Mini-cons, they activated some feature on the larger robot, but the only difference between the keys and the Mini-cons is that the keys don't transform. They're not distinct.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head there. The problem with the Transformers franchise is that the fandom is making it into another Star Wars-ish franchise; this is especially apparent with Optimus Prime. It's scary how so many people are making Optimus Prime the sole focus of "good" and Megatron as the sole focus of "evil". What's worse, the franchise is dying even more quickly with umpteenth versions of Optimus Prime and stuff, and to top it all off, people are blindly buying all the Optimus Primes that the corporations are throwing at them. It's like buying "Gap Employee Wolverine" or "Year 2.75 Batman" when you buy "MP3 Player Convoy" or "Pepsi Optimus Prime " - it gets ridiculous and you have ridiculous people supporting that ridiculousness.
Time to let the TF franchise die, I say. The signs are there.
