I like many here want to Custom up a LC megatron and i was hoping that we could start a post for people to refer to in regards to modding?

like posting up FAQ's on the neck modding parts removal and disassembly of these badboy figures?

i think this could be a good way to go with all the modding that is going to happen with these LC figures!!!

Thanks to all for the views and to all that post and reply!!!

I'll put up a pic tonight, but I found that with a little trimming, you can pop off his head in alt mode and stick it onto the tab that's right behind his original head location, facing downward, to reduce the kibble factor slightly and fill in that empty space behind his head a little bit. Can't decide if it looks better, and it does involve parts-forming, but I'll let you guys have your say later.

Hey Hip Hoptimus - i would love to see that!
I know Jin actually replaced his neck completely i would really like a solution that allows his neck to be at the front of his body rather than the back.

As for other Mods i swapped out the spring from his cannon arm to his Shooty claw and its awesome! I also replaced the goofy string with a necklace chain. of course his floppy mace of doom doesnt flop when you pull the lever - but it shoots out like a Sonovabitch so the trade off is fair.

That is a great idea Hunter...i mean the mod of the chain!

i might have to do that...i totally forgot about the harpoon thing!

I will put pics up tonight

Here is my Hand Mace mod - when the spring is in the Right hand it really fires out and then the chain feeds out the side of his arm kibble.
Its neat. The only draw back is that the chain has a tendency to slide out when his hand/mace is sheathed.

I am also doing some minor detailing, although i am not sure if it shows up in the pictures.

Here's the thread I posted about my mild Ldr Megatron re-paint. The head mod is the last few pics:

It's no big deal, really, but maybe someone can improve on it.

Nice Mod, but the chain is a bit too long for my taste! optimuslaugh2.gif

You wouldnt say that if you saw how cool it was when it shoots!

Anyone got any shots of the internals of the Spring switch? I want to see both sides in clarity before I try it.

Hunter Rose, have you figured out a way to keep the chain from spilling out of the arm cavity? I did the chain mod last night, and it's awesome! I used a chain from my Arch Enemy Gundam RX-78's mace (?) weapon- it's nice bec. it's black, but it's kind short. Trouble is, as you pointed out, it all pours right out of the arm in certain poses.

I was thinking of making a kind of door that keeps the arm cavity closed. You'd have to open it manually to fire the claw, but it would do the trick. I'll post more details when I get something to work.

Great mod again!

Gotcha covered, bro!

The flap and its peg came from a 4.5in. Burning Gundam fig's leg. I had to trim the flap so it would move freely. I drilled a hole in the arm part and glued the peg in. The peg itself had to be trimmed down to the bare minimum, just enough to hold the flap on and still hold on to the arm.

You just lay the chain carefully into the large empty spce behind the flap hinge (i.e. closest to the elbow), and close the flap on the chain. There is a short length of chain visible when its locked and loaded, but it's NBD IMO. The best part? Fire the claw, and it yanks the chain out and opens the flap all on its own!

Occasionally, the chain gets tangled inside and won't come all the way out, and sometimes you'll get a little chain "seepage" when it's closed up, but I think it does the trick.

Cont'd below.

(Ugh, didn't auto-merge.)

This is how it looks assembled:

I still need to paint flap silver. I think a thinner chain my cure the hanging up problem, too. Note that this has no effect on the alt mode. Comments please!

Very nice!

This is more of a paint thing than a mod, but here's what I did. I hated the way the eyes looked, so I took apart his head and painted the clear-red section black, painted the eyes red, and added black dots to the center of the eyeball. I think it looks much better now, IMHO.
