I am sort of skeptical as regarding the new movie Starscream. Which one is better?
I'd say the repaint version is a slgith bit better, since he has a more "Starscream-like" head. As compared to the actual movie version, which is a bit less perferrable by me.
Which one should I purchase?

Aside from the head and god-awful color scheme, it's the same mold. So it's really up to you. I got the regular movie one and I think he's pretty good, even though he has no hands.
But again, that's my preference. I can't, no one can really, decide for you. If you're achin for an SS fix though, just go with what you can find. Maybe what you could do is buy the regular SS if you see him, and then if you get the Thundercracker or SS repaint of the TC-headed version, you could swap heads with regular SS and then get the SS of your dreams that has a more G1-esque head on his movie body with movie colors.

I dont own either one but I've seen both of them in stores. For me, G1 color Screamer, I wanted to buy it imediately.

Initially, I wanted the G1 Starscream. But something about his head really didn't click for me. It just looked bad. So I ended up with regular Screamer and I'm more than happy.

I like regular movie Starscream's head a lot better than the repaint. Besides, I don't think that repaint Starscream's head looks all that much like the actual G1 Starscream's. I'm thinking about snatching up another movie Starscream if I get the chance and repainting it myself to look closer to G1 Starscream than the Target repaint.

I have both. The movie Starscream is fine as is the G1 repaint. Hasbro does deserve some praise for remolding the head. People are fooling themselves if they think it's a true g1 head. Why should it be anyway? Just think of it as one of the non-movie toys, like Wreckage. The head sculpt looks like a cross between movie Starscream's head and Dinobot's from Beast Wars. It also has red light-piping for the eyes and mouth. The G1 colors look good on him as well.

Personally, I WANT to see some crisp clear large pics of the G1 screamer. Or in store.
I already have the movie version, and some easy paint apps make SS one of my favorite voyager figs.

I just got the G1. I think the head is much better looking on tihs one. I don't think it's intended to be an exact replica of the original.. just look at the body. He's real mean looking though, and it's defintely closer looking to the original than the brown movie one. I think it's the best one of the Voyagers. Thundercracker is going to be the same as him, but in the blue color scheme.

I like the Movie paint version because its from the live action movie not the cartoon. But I also like the G1 repaint because I'm a G1 fan. For the paint it should be the movie for me because if he was painted in G1 colors in the movie it wouldn't be right. Like I said I still do want the G1 repaint because I grew up with G1, if I just started to get into TF I probably wouldn't care about the G1 repaint.

I personally prefer the movie version. The head on the G1 version clashes too much with the body design IMO and I think the G1 SS colors look like ass on that mold.

I've never met a starscream I didn't like. Although energon came close...but then they repainted him G1 style, and the love affair was back on! I've got both the Movie and the G1 repaint, and I'm liking both, for different reasons. But I realize perspectives are different for different people. I was a kid when G1 was on the shelves of my local Roses and Zayres department stores, and I saved up and bought them all, so I can't help but have love for the repaint! Yeah, I'm gettin' old...

Got 'em both and loving them both for vastly different reasons. I honestly couldn't recommend one over the other so, Hooray for free post!

The movie dome-head fits the botmode better IMO and that colorsceme on the G1 version is really awfull. Thundercracker is a 'maybe' but for Starscream, go movie style.

definately the movie version. I mean you probably already have a g1 starscream and at least 3 other "updates".

I agree.
I like the freaky head on the remold, but think that Thundercracker is the better executed version.

It depends, if you want a Movie toy get teh one from the movie. If you want realism get the movie version. To me the G1 coloured version is hideous and pointless. If you are a completist like me you will get both even though you HATE the g1 sceme. THIS ISNT GEE FECKIN ONE ITS THE 2007 MOVIE YOU WANT G1 SS GET CLASSICS, ROBOTMASTERS OR TAKARA COLLECTION.

I don't get the hatred for this repaint. The G1 color scheme doesn't exist in any time period. It's not like the air force and navy were painting their jets in those colors during the '70s when Takara originally made the Starscream toy. It's just an interesting color scheme. That's all. How can people be okay with the bottom heavy alt mode of movie Starscream, with his large rocket pod arms under each wing, his dull sand coloring, but then suddenly have absolute hatred when Hasbro makes a new head sculpt and give the toy G1 colors? How do you from absolute love to absolute hate? This like the reverse of Alt. Optimus Prime; when people hated the robot mode but when Hasbro painted him black and called him Nemesis Prime, they got fanwood. WTF?

Because Movie SS is DAMNED ACCURATE but for the missiles.

I dont HATE the mould I just hate it when people say OOH THATS BETTER THAN TEH MOVIE ONE. Why buy something if it aint accurate to the movie scheme when getting a movie line? Thats like getting all the Jurrasic park Dinos but getting the Shocking Pink and Blue Polka dot T-Rex. To me get the real one AND the re-paint

If he comes out in the Stores somehow (the target exclusive basic figures came out in two different store chains, and we have no Target stores in the country) I'd buy the Starscream repain with different head.
As it stands, I have my Movie Starscream, and he is pretty cool. I rather like that mold.
And I'll get Thundercracker.
