it was the weirdest Powerglideing thing ever. i didn't even see him get behind me until i pulled onto my block, then i saw the headlights following me and then he hit the lights, and turns his spotlight on. he kept his spotlight on and sat in his car for a good 5 minutes before he came up to me. when he started talking to me he stood at the back of the car away from the driver's side window. he does the standard ask for registration thing, so i give it to him and he starts asking a ton of questions. he wants to know where i'm coming from, what i'm doing, if i got a job, if my wife's got a job, why i'm on disability, why i moved up here, etc... so i answered his questions, i figure i got nothing to hide. then he says ok, you can go, have a good night. he didn't even site me for not having an up-to-date insurance card!

so, what do you guys think, am i being watched for some reason?
Rapid Run
did he ask you if you were USERNAME LADIESMAN217?

Don't go tinfoil-hat yet, he might just have had a crap day an d made you his target. He sounds like an Afterburner IMO.

As someone who's had his fair amount of being pulled over, personal questions like that are NOT standard, and for all intents & purposes, should not be asked at all. I'm hoping you got the officer's badge number so you can call your local PD and find out if this person is even an officer. Questions like that makes it seem more like a robber staking out a victim, basically finding out where you work to gauge your income, when you work to gauge when you will or will not be home, etc... A real cop would tell you why you were pulled over and would not neglect an expired insurance card...

my first thought was that they where looking for somebody in a green lumina, but after thinking about it i got paranoid, i tend to get paranoid about stuff like this >_>

if he was a fake, he did a good job as he had a city pig's car, but yea it spooked me.

also, no i didn't i was more worried about wtf he pulled me over for and what kinda fine i was gonna hafta pay >_>

yeah, it either sounds like someone was trying to case you, or you are being hardcore watched. i used to think i was just being paranoid that people were watching me until i started finding out it was true, so i never assume that it isnt a possibility

my mother-in-law just talked to her mom and she said they had a green car pulled over yesterday (she was on her way home from an appointment) with 4 or 5 cruisers around it and had the back seat pulled out.

You must have looked like the "perp" so dont take any offense. Maybee the guy was dangerous enough for them to ignore the insurance issue.
Buddykiller
thats the one thing that stood out to me, not the personal questions, but the fact that he could care less about the insurance. i even told him i could bring an updated one by the station, but thats when he told me he wasn't going to site me for it.

i thought he was going to pull me over for noise, i had just turned the radio down right before he pulled me over (we don't have a noise ordinance during the day, but at night i think it's 300 ft and i can clear that easy, esp with lil wyte)

Oh Blot! I'm happy I wasn't drinking when I read this. I think "BuddyKiller" is more suspect than Ladiesman

It would have been nice if the cop gave you an explanation. A cop did that to me and told me my car fit the discription of someone they were looking for but I wasn't the guy ofcourse. so he pulled off

my ebay user id is slitwrists >_> that was years ago though i'm thinking about changing it.

also, if i was a cop, i'd do that a couple times for kicks.

Shoulda accused him of pulling you over just because you're white. Then get all cracka on his ass.

And make a routine traffic stop into a night at Central booking. That would be fun.

You aren't being followed. If you were being "followed" (and trust me, I've got more reason for being followed that you do) then they wouldn't use a city cop to approach you. Its more likely that your vehicle or appearance matched the discription for something they were looking for.

I am not sure how the law works in your state, but before Miranda Rights are read, you are allowed to ask why you were pulled over. As far as the law goes, it is good to ask this since if the cop pulled you over for a reason in his head (such as if he was looking for an arrest based on your reactions to be being pulled over) then he would have to decide whether or not he would reveal his actual reason for pulling you over. When faced with the fact it might be a moving violation over anything else he could dream up, it's a pretty good thing. Sure, it's a little mind-game playing, but isn't he doing the same to you?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Yesterday, in fact, was a weird day for me also. I received a phone message from a Detective in a neighboring municipality. I called him back and he informed me that MY telephone number was recorded in their Caller ID as to making a bomb threat at a specific time and date. I checked my phone and I had not made a call in 4 hours on either side of the time he told me. I called him back and offered to send (he offered fax) him the telephone records from the carrier, which he agreed. He must have thought something was up because he then called me back about 10 minutes later. He told me that the clerk had made an error in drafting up the report, and that the telephone number in the evidence log was 1 digit off of mine. He apologized, and said I didn't have to worry about it. I told him "good luck in your investigation and have a good weekend". I wasn't worried at all because I knew it wasn't me. Also I am the telephone master.

With my nice tan*, I would never argue with the Police. I have been to Central Booking before and that was not something I want to revisit. 28hrs of being treated like an animal. All 28 of them spent conscious and worried out of my mind.

*see Sig and profile for tan.
