Looks fake man. If you got an outer box shot, that might help. The Italian version didn't have the orange cap in it iirc.
Don't feel alone. One day I bought a Diaclone Starscream MIB and got it and it was Kingdam... That's what we get for jumping at the damn things.
EDIT: the booklets seem legit.... better wait on a confirmation about the orange bit from the other guys.
No, it was the italian version that only came with the orange cap on the barrel of the gun. But it does not matter in this case since it is NOT an orange capped version in the first place but something like those foam ear protectors stuffed inside the barrel.
"look before you leap."
Everything seems legit from what I can see from the pics. If you can take a pic of the other side of the gun, you can confirm whether or not it is a true microchange mold by checking the date stamp on the toy. There should be no Hasbro markings since that wasn't added until Transformers had started in '84. It is possible for a Transformer (early version) Megatron to have been inserted into the box, but since there are no mold changes, it is the same thing. IE, I have a diaclone mold thundercracker sealed in a TF box. No copyright, sparkly blue, and the long sections of the wings were sanded down shorter. -No not overstock, but production continues until changes are made.
Back to Megatron, the copyright should ONLY have "Made in Japan TAKARA" but not "Made in Japan TAKARA CO., LTD" or with the years "C 1974,1983" above it nor the "C Hasbro 1974. 1983" in the upper left since this was added LATER. I can at least tell your Megatron is pre 85/86 because there is no pin in the shoulder/arm area. This modification first appeared in the later Euro(not MB), mail away(rub), GB megatron and second version of the single pack Japanese megatron. AFAIR, all versions since have had this pin. Newer versions of course have an updated copyright ie made in China, and areas that once had screws have been changed to a pin type connector. There are very minor differences between MC12 and 13 but are so small it is only valid to distingish the difference between the grey MC12 from the japanese version of megatron (and I do not mean the color of the handle) but markings in the mold which appeared later in the run from MC 13 into the transformer line.
Thanks. -Himawari
