Big Grim
OK, I know this is several months late, but hey I just read them. If you saw the movie, then you need to read the prequels. They add so much more depth to the storyline: like how Raph became the Nightwatcher, April's first meeting with Winters, and Leo's journey around the world. Plus you get appearances by Triceratons, and the Ninja Tribunal. And of course the adaption itself is needed to complete the set. Overall, these comics serve as a faithful adaption of Eastman and Laird's TMNT continuity. Definitely a must have for anyone who calls themselves fans of TMNT, or at least saw the new movie.

I liked the raph and mikey prequals, april and don were ok (expected Don to be about the tech help line, and thought April got more action than she deserved), and I thought the leo one was downright boring. And like most movie adapts, this one just felt like the movie on fast forward.
Big Grim
I just get a kick out of seeing the Turtles travel outside of New York, that's why I liked the Leo issue. And again, seeing the Ninja Tribunal and the Ancient One made the fanboy in me scream like a lil girl.
