I watched Pokemon: Battle Frontier for the first time yesterday and all of the voices don't sound right. I could tell right away that it wasn't Eric Stuart doing Brock and James, Rachel Lillis doing May, or Veronica Taylor doing Ash.
What is with these new actors? My cousin's four and a half year old has more personality than these new actors do.

I have to agree, these new voice actors SUCK! Especially Ash. My nephews kids watch the show and they noticed the difference right away and at first thought it was different characters. They got bored with it real quick! (and they love Pokemon!) Bad move on whoevers decision it was to go with this new crew. I won't be watching. Sorry Cartoon Network!

the original V.A.s probably decided it was time for a change.

Actually, Nintendo took control of the dubbing process(I guess to save money. Of course, they make approximately 7.3 trillion dollars off of Pokemon, so it matters little), and there was some contract crap with some of the voice actors preventing them from voicing on the new series'(A new one's coming out in June. Saw the ad for it today.). I think they still have the original voice actors for Jessie and James though.
Don't know too much about it as I haven't really watched the series in... 5 some odd years.
actually, closer to seven.

No Rachel Lillis did Jessie. I'm sure of it.

To be honest. I watched Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and the voices made sense. Ash sounds older, and the others sound a little more like their old voices. I almost couldn't tell Meowth wasn't the same guy

But what's the point of hiring voice actors that have no personality to do the voices? That doesn't make any sense what-so-ever.

I take it you've never watched anything other than Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon, then?
It's quite a common occurance, though nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Anime always has been the hardest hit by that. For a good example, watch the dubbed version of Vampire Hunter D. Then curse my name.

I wouldn't say that LP. All I'm saying is that is that the newer voices are nowhere near as personable as the older voices.
I actually read an article on the Anime News Network that Veronica Taylor, Ash's original voice actor, said that she had been doing Ash's voice since Pokemon started and that she was really upset when Nintendo took over the dubbing.
