people i have a question when it comes to optimus and megatron as their characters have existed throughout the g1 us and uk marvel and g2 comics theres no denying the fact that those 2 have each come full circle in some part from being the person each of them was when it comes to how each has over time somewhat changed from seeing one another in the heavily biased filtered light each of their fueding societies had raised them to see one another through to seeing one another in some part for the person each of them truly is in life.
basicly people my idea for this scene story wise is one that is set some very short while after the end of the g2 comic one in which optimus and megatron fight one another for a final time. not to the death but more out of a desire to settle the debt prime owes megatron for his aid in defeating jhiaxus and his rogue cybertronians and in some slight part out of a desire on megatron's and primesa part to learn once and for all and to answere the age old question as to which one of them is the greater and truer warrior at heart and in spirit basicly people the idea i am going with for this fight is that this last debt settles all the debts of the past. after which were it not for the events covered in alignment these two warriors might very well have parted ways with one another under more respectable and perhaps peaceful circumstances to make a life for each of themselves beyond the war.
it's not so much an unspoken peace treaty here as it were folks as it is both of them accepting the fact that they must either learn to live together in tolerance of one anothers existance or they must both die fighting agaist one another and in doing so bring a mutual end to their shared existance basicly it's a life long stalemate as it were
my question people though is this.
how might it have gone over with the fan base if the comic had ended like that on a somewhat slight positive note between those 2 if they had used that kind of end for the g2 comic in place of the leige maximo spoiler?

anything's possible. Question, though, how come your posts in the kb and fanfic forums are usually about writing a story, and not a story, or about a kitbash, but nothing you've done, or had pics to show us?
Let's see some stuff!! go write that story.
And something that will help you get your stuff read more is having someone, or a program, do a grammar check for you. To be honest, I have a hard time reading most of your posts, because you don't really use any punctuation. You've probably got a lot of great ideas, i usually check your threads, and you are pretty prolific when it comes to explaining stuff on your mind. Unfortunately, I usually tune out about halfway into your first paragraph, because of the punctuation. Just saying, that's all. Good luck on the story!
(and get a camera and show us those bashes you've been telling us about!!)

OK, Devil's Advocate here:
a. Prime could not care less who is greater, he is only concerned with what has to be done to save sentient beings. If it has to get done, it will get done... not because he is great but because he will burn out every circuit he has until it is so. He would not glory in being a warrior of any kind.
b. Megs could not care less who is truer (is that a word?), he clearly lies cheats, steals, etc to get what he wants. In several series, he doesn't even fight. He just directs from the shadows cause... he can. Nor could he ever concieve of anyone being greater, at his spark he already knows who is greatest, without exception. He would not glory in being a warrior of any kind.
c. There are no debts to settle, they both acted to save what they hold dearest (setient beings for Prime and for Megs... himself!) as there was no other possible option. Sounds even steven to me.
d. Prime will NEVER learn to tolerate Meg's beligerent actions and Megs will NEVER learn to tolerate Prime's refusal to obey him. This is a stalemate for a reason, because it was intensionally built to be so. If you break their fundamental characteristics, you are no longer really writing about them... you are writing about you.
e. You can not negotiate with Terrorists (or Terrorcons for that matter). Forget it, it will never work no matter how tree-hugger you want to be. They will eventually get around to wanting that tree too. And then of course, it's too late.
This idea is an OK one but it probably won't work with the characters you've selected. Maybe try other characters who are more in line with the motives you want to play with. There are plenty of characters more devoted to the Noble warrior concept, Beast Wars Dinobot or Silverbolt are the most basic examples. See how they didn't use Primal and Megs for that subplot? It's cause they couldn't. Even the Noble Savage character in Beast Machines (an attempt to do what you are talking about here) fell apart because he was half lobotomized, uncontrollable and unstable.
To answer your question, the fan base would have rebelled because your Shared Existance in not possible. The only happy ending we ever get is when Megs is dead (end ot Beast Machines).

Now that the Devil's Advocate bit is out of the way, perhaps some more constructive ideas.
I can completely see the Decepticon armies getting very tired of the never ending battle and Megatron/Galvatrons inability to win it. Sure, they would like to run roughshod over the universe too but you can't rule anything if you are dead and it's just not that much fun anymore. I mean who wants to get their afterburner kicked every day forever right? Only one problem, the Bosses have got to go.
I picture a rather awkword Treaty Accord held across a rather... unusual confrence table. On one side is Optimus and Rodimus, on the other, oh say Cyclonus and Scourge. The aforementioned table is the easily recognizable chained and completely deactivated carcasses of Galvatron, Shockwave and Starscream, delicately arranged and ornamented by the new Decepticon Council as an unexpected (and unwanted) gift to the Autobots. As a token of their "peaceful intent" and as a warning to any other would-be dictators.
The Autobots do not appreciate the gift but have to admit their hopes for a lasting peace are much improved under the circumstances. Prime's first amendment on the... "table" is that no more war criminals are to be executed on either side without due process of a bicameral court.
Under this new truce, the Decepticon's tremendous energies are refocused into more positive, if still somewhat risky and aggressive behavior. There is a new placement procedure whereby the more socially acceptable you are in public, the more dangerous a job you can recieve. Thus each Decepticon is rewarded for maintaining a stable society while at the same time avoiding the immortal bordom that led them to seek combat and conquest in the first place.
Some examples include a War Criminal tracking unit (the ones even the Decepticons couldn't stand), a Unicron Hunting Party and a Standing Army for the purpose of peacefully shutting down outside wars that are growing out of control to threaten other planets.
Autobot Scientists, having worked for centuries to build devestating weapons of war, are now re-tasked to develope and build strictly non-leathal gear for these purposes. Only the Unicron Hunting Party still carries live ammo. However, utilizing a variation of the combiner technology, these weapons can not be unlocked without unanimous group decision and can not be fired at anything but Unicron. Competition to get into this group is at an all time high and the waiting list is quite long.
Unicron is currently seeking a new universe to rule... quickly.
Sound plausible?

You are overlooking Primus. Everyone assumes that he is essentially unconscious but he is a god and should never be underestimated. He is probably plotting his own strategy constantly while pretending to sleep. He would have ultimate influence over all Transformers via the influence of the matrix, so the war will continue as long as he sees fit.
