So, for a while now, I can say I have a decent computer. And, I found out about this increadibly awesome show called "The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi". It;s great, just awesome. Fell in love with it. If you haven;t seen it, do so. Seriously. Not kidding, get out, or online, or whatever, and make sure to watch it as soon as possible. NOW!
I also just happened to find Zero No Tsukaima, which is a decent show, though not immensly great. I'm currently reading Death Note, and I first want to get up-to-date with the manga, before I start watching the Anime.
My question to you, dear visitors of this forum: Do you have any interesting animes you can recommend to me?

Thanks!
I'm actually looking for animes with less S.F., and less "huge battles". These animes you show are mostly in the Real or Super Robot genre, and I'm looking more into high-school stories.

well Godannar has the "high school girl turned robot pilot with some high school shenanigans" but not what you're looking for.

Got to agree with Princess Mononoke - one of the best non-mecha animes there is!! Also, My Neighbor Totoro is good too - keeps my nieces quiet for an hour and a bit. Strangely enough, the two little girls in it remind me of them - spooky!!

I know. but you got admit, the skirts in Haruhi are a little short for comfort. its like when Gravion Zwei came out with the boxset and you've got the girls running around in bikinis that are falling off. I got stares like I was buying dirty cartoons.

I don't think it's the perhaps-too-short skirts that give that impression. It's more like how Haruhi dresses up the girl she's specifically picked for her loli looks and big breasts into outfits of nurses, maids, waitresses, bunny girls, etcetera.

The only title I can think of with a high school setting is High School Girls/Girls High/Joshikosei.
It's been licensed by Media Blasters, supposed to be released in April 2007.

I found a couple of good series, among which are Last Exile and Shakugan no SHANA. Anyone know stories similar to these?

If you get the chance check out "Heroic Age". I downloaded the first episode and was very surprised by the quality of the production.

If your into Jdrama Densha Otoko is a great series albiet it's only 11 episodes available only as a fansub right now. I know it's not anime but there's alot of reference to Gundam and Keroro Gunsou. There's also a Densha Movie that came out and is brought here in the US by either VIZ or ADV I'm not quite sure though and available at Best Buy, Fye etc.

Was just wondering if anyone recommends Fruits Basket? I'm asking because i have seen a Fruits Basket box set in my local branch of HMV for around £40, and was wondering if it's a good buy or not..

It's good enough to watch and enjoy, but I personally wouldn't spend 40 pounds on it. It's easily enough obtained through...'other' channels, let's say and although I can truly recommend it if you like the kind of High School shinenigans as, for example, Ouran, I personally don't think it is the greatest series out there. Plus, the series was never finished, nor will it ever, so you will end up with an incomplete story. (The Manga, however, WAS finished, so you can check that out, if you decide to buy the boxset) A friend of mine, however, swears by the series, and can't get enough of it. Said friend, however, is a girl. So, there you go.

Ok - thanks for the info Klarion!! Guess I will just look around for Tenchi Muyo instead - used to watch n record that series when they used to put it on Cartoon Network or Toonami over here a few years back. Think that was one of the first anime series I genuinely laughed my arse off while I watched it; it was just plain mental!!

I highly recommend the Ghost in the Shell series: S.A.C. It's amazing.... atleast i.m.o...... My favorite!!!!
Other series..... you could always try HellSing, Cromartie High (comedy...pretty funny, actually.), Lodus Wars, requiem from the darkness (very....weird....but strangely addicting), Fushigi Yuugi (if you feel like spending the rest of your life watching this entire series.... you may just be able to finish it. heh), "X", Samurai Champloo (another one of my favs.), and try the movie Parasite Dolls. These are just a couple from my collection that I would recommend to others.... If I can think of any others, I'll let ya know!!!

Happy watching!
