Beast Megatron

The minor changes they made in this head sculpt help the design so much, it's not even funny. I mean, I loved the original concept art, but this is pure love. Also, the battle helmet rocks.

The head definitely looks better than the initial design. It also seems like it would fit the toy's aesthetics as well. If this had been a design for a future TV show line, I think it would've been met with even more hatred. At least you've got the big payroll of a movie behind it, pushing it, but the movie's a one shot (for now) and when it's over, it's over. A TV series would drive this guy constantly...
So if we must go ugly, I'm glad it's in the movies, and not going to reoccur on a regular basis.

I think if it had been a design for a TV show, it would've been met with trumpets and applause.

I just keep thinking of how Don Murphy kept telling the fandom not to get upset about WIP-Designs.
Sure enough - as we get closer to Opening day people are being much more accepting of the designs.
Now this may be that people are coming to accept them. But i also think that Murphy had a valid point.
Why would you judge something thats not finished??

Quite interesting. I like it. It looks more humanoid, yet monster-esque as well. It'll frighten somebody, and I still believe he eats babies for power.

The new "regular" head is virtually identical to the old "battle mode" head.

That is an excellent improvment upon Megatron's face. Perhaps you could conduct a comparison of the previous and the current?

True true, there was far too much criticism too early on of this design. Then again, if there were never any leaked picas and therefore criticisms from those who saw it, (i.e. us) would things like this have been changed? For all we know the Producers may have been happy with the first designs we saw and the (constructive as opposed to Starscreaming) criticism from fans may have prompted changes. Not in the 'oh the fanboys don't like it so we'd better change it' sense but more of the 'actually what that guy said was pretty valid, maybe we should go for a slightly different approach' sense. Just a thought as to how it's possible some of the more insightful rather than hate-filled crits may actually be of some benefit. Whether or not they are I guess we'll never know.

Did he ever even have a battle mode face?? I don't recall ever seeing it used in the movie... then again, with how much he was in it and how he blurred and jumped around everywhere, I probably missed it someplace.

He was in battle mode for most of his scenes. I only recall seeing his regular head when he was frozen.
