This week I picked up-
Ultimate Spider-man 104
Had a nice fight scene, but I'm dissappointed Kaine and Tarantula are dead. Both of them could've had at least one good story line left. Richard's death scene felt a bit rushed too. It was another great chapter in a great arc.
Spider-Man: Reign 2
Great story. I'm not sure I like the art, it has some weird perspectives (like the church in the ally, or when Doc Ock is flying?). I was hoping for a bit more detail in the fight with the Sinner Six, but what we got was still good. I'm anxious to find out what the hell Doc Ock is doing.
Ghost Rider 7
I'm glad this artist is gone after this issue. I loved the look of 1-5, but this arc just looks bad. The story also feels a little rushed. I hope the characters at the end get revisited, so we can find out what the hell these two issues were about.
Ultra Magnus Spotlight
Review in the IDW thread
I thought about picking up IDW's Zombies vs Robots two parter when I saw issue 2 yesterday, but I'm not sure my LCS got issue 1, so I passed.

Annihilation 6:
A wonderful ending with kick ass fight scenes. Don't really care for how important phyla became right at the end, but I guess it works. I can't wait for the Nova ongoing.
Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham
It was a fun read. What the hell did happen to thought balloons?

i havent bought any comics since i moved (like seven mothns ago) and i just picked up everything i missed. USM 96-104, spotlights shockwave, um, hotrod, and nightbeat. only things ive read are the usm comics so far. ive got a thread about the usm comics so i wont go into that again.
and hey speedo, ill bet that isnt the end for kaine. since he was one of the more important clones in the origional clone saga.

USM 105
A good follow up, tied up the clone saga nicely. I expected more from Kitty, but meh. She was a cool girlfriend for peter in the first annual, but she's gotten annoying while MJ has grown up. I followed USM in trade up until the start of the clone sage, and planned to go back to the trades after this arc, but this issue has convinced me to continue with the monthlies.
Spider-man Reign #3
This series has been getting better and better. The art was better in this issue (less obviously computer added effects). The story is coming together, and I think it'll be an exciting finale next month. I don't think this will become the classic that DKR did though. I think Peter is a little too crazy.
Irredeemable Ant-Man #5
This title is still a lot of fun. The main character really is an ass, and he's fun to read. Kirkman's obviously having fun doing this title, but I'm beginning to wonder what direction it's going to take, because I don't think the current premise will stay interesting for long.
Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears #1
Nice art, nice writing, no ghost rider. I'll thumb through the second issue in store, but I'm not buying it unless I see flame head.
New Universal #3
Every time I get to the end of one of these issues, I wish it wasn't over. The pacing is a little slow, but that's because Ellis is trying to introduce about 15 characters at the same time. There was no Starbrand or Dreamer in this issue, but there was more of the archeologists. For anyone who isn't reading this, I'd recommend waiting for the trade. I think it'll be more coherant.

I got Ghost Rider 8 saturday, much better than issues 6,7. Really glad the original artist is back. Much better.
Today I got GI Joe VS Transformers IV part 2. Pretty good, a really loose ending. Looking forward to a fifth part.
Apparently, the Movie Prequal issue is late. The man at the comic store said they didn't cancel until the last minute, and he isn't sure if it's coming next week or not.
I also snagged a retailer incentive cover for the Shockwave spotlight. It's really pretty, and exclusive to dealers who went to a convention in Boston.

Escalation #4 (see IDW thread)
Action Comics 846:
This one is late, and wasn't quite on par with the first two parts of the arc. The last few pages are a big "oh Blot!" moment, and I'm already impatient for the next part.
Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus 1:
Pretty art, but the writing just wasn't up to the standard set by the rest of Annihilation. The Terrax moments were heavy with exposition. and what happened to Paibok? in annihilation he had cyborg elements on his head, in Drax he was a calculating badass, and in this he's an insightful sidekick? The Stardust story was somewhat better. I'm not real familiar with the character, but his internal struggle seemed ligitimate. the ending frustrated me a little because it was a set up to undo one of the huge changes from Annhilation Galactus takes Stardust back as a herald because he's so friggen hungry from what Annilus did to him that he needs two heralds to find food. Then G alludes that he expects Surfer to betray him again anytime and quit being a herald again.
I saw Batman Confidential #3, but passed. I didn't really care for the first 2, and this one didn't look any better. I did notice that it was marked as being 3 of 8, and I don't think it was origianlly supposed to be a mini. I guess that means I'm not the only one disappointed with it.
Overall, it was a good week numbers wise, but mediocre in writing.

Ultimate Spider-Man 106
The events from the clone saga didn't just disappear, thankfully. Peter is still dealing with the repercussions from it. I think Ultimate Knights is going to be a great story line. Bendis' gangland arcs before this have all been great, and this one is starting out very solid.
New Universal 4
I still really love the pacing for this series. It has a cast of something around 10, and each issue focuses on only 2 or 3 at a time. The art is strong, the writing is compelling, and the plot is starting to come together. Can't wait for the next issue.
Transformers: Prime Directive
its ok. the writing style gets a little...repetitive! Definate over use of elipses followed by....an interjection! Megatron seems like quite a badass, but I don't see why such an evil character would let bumblebee go. eh, I liked it and I'm sticking around for it. Much better than the animated movie adaptation.
Criminal 5
not the ending I expected at all. This is crime fiction at it's best. anyone who hasn't looked into this yet needs to try and find it. I'm really dissappointed to find out the next arc won't be out until May, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Brubaker rocks.
Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears 2
I passed on this. The first one was well written but boring. No ghost rider at all. I flipped through this in the store, and still no sign of ghost rider, except maybe the last panel. If I hear good reviews, maybe I'll grab it next week. but probably not.
Sonic the Hedgehog Archives volume 2
I wanted this really bad, but had to pass this week for money issues. I enjoyed this series as a kid, and the series looks like it's gotten much better over the last 15 years, so I'm going to buy up all these archives as they come out. I'm not sure the 4 issue at a time pocket size format will ever catch up to the current issues, but they're really fun and totally worth the seven dollars.
This was a really good week for me.

Spider-Man: Reign #4
A nice end to a good series. It got better with every issue, and I'm going to go back and read it straight through to put together the pieces I missed before.
Ghost Rider #9
This issue seemed to go by really fast. A lot of fun, and I'm still recommending this title to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.
The Irredeemable Ant-Man #6
This issue wraps up the first arc, and concludes the flashbacks. It'll be nice to have one coherant, sequential issues from now on. A surprise twist end setting up the next arc, too.
The Essential Silver Surfer
This is the first Essential trade I've ever bought, and they are wonderful. I thought the black and white would be a turn off, but it isn't as bad as I'd expected.
Dynamo 5 #1
This actually came out last week and I missed it. I might give it another shot because it's an interesting premise, but this particular issue just seemed bland and predictable.

im kind of not reading anything at the moment. since i just got back into collecting comics i have some catching up to do before i read the things im buying now. ghost rider is picking up though. but until this "lucifer on earth" thing ends it just feels like a mini-series.

I think the lucifer on earth plot is going to pretty much be a constant theme for the foreseeable future, unless Jonny finds a way to round up a few hundred at a time instead of 3 or 4. But I imagine we'll start seeing other villians again soon.

TF Movie Prequal-see TF movie Thread
Spotlight Soundwave-see IDW thread
TMNT Movie Prequel-RaphThe 5 prequal issues each center around a different character showing the back story developed for them prior to the movie. This one was a pretty solid one shot, showcasing the relationship between all the brothers really well.
TMNT Movie Prequal-MikeNot as good as the raph issue in writing or art, but still good. It shows what a normal day is like for Mike and Don, as well as a growing friction between all the turtles and splinter.
Sonic The Hedgehog Archives, vol 2 collects issues 5-8 of the Archie comics series. I read these when I was in elem school, and they're a fun trip down memory lane. They include pretty much everything that was put in the issues, including the goofy fake bumper stickers and one page shorts.

Escalation 5. The Prime/Megs fight was kinda disappointing. The action was great, but there was way too much exposition in it, and it felt extremely forced. Who has a monologue during a deathmatch, honestly? I think thought boxes would've conveyed it much better. Overall it was decent, B.
I don't think escalation 6 is going to wrap up much though, just this particular incident in whatever country it is. Does anyone have any guesses to who the Macination's head is? I thought it shockwave, but the end of the issue shot that down.
Ultimate Spider-man 107This was an excellent issue. Peter finally confronts Kitty (it goes badly), and he meets the Knights. Moon Knight rools, and his talk with Daredevil was well done, I thought. I was not expecting the last two pages.
Action Comics meh. This whole issue was an intermission to the arc that I'm interested in. Nothing but Johnathan Kent telling Martha not to worry that Zod has an army of Kryptonians on earth, because Superman is good. No action whatsoever. BORING! I picked this title up for this arc, and I'll drop it when this arc's over.
Futurama #30 The last issue was the first I'd ever read or bought, and it was excellent, just like the show. So, I'm not sure if that one was a stand out issue for it's quality in a mediocre series, or if this one was just a lame issue in a great series. I'll probably give it one more shot (maybe a back issue next week), but that'll be it.
This week was kinda half and half for me. meh.

Annhilation: Hearlds
Two fantastic stories. Firelord is actually interesting, and Silver Surfer is at his best. I highly recommend this to anyone who still isn't into Annihilation.
Irredeemable Ant-Man #7
Eric's inner monolouge about Mrs Marvel is hilarious. This series is only getting better.
TMNT: April
kinda boring, and the end is a little jumbled. It does clarify how exactly she fit into the movie.
TMNT: Leo
There was a lot of time and travel crammed into this book. The lessons Leo was learning felt really rushed.
Overall, this was a good week for me. 4 solid purchases.

Nova #1Nice showcase for what he's been doing since Annihilation ended. His inner dialogue with world mind is back, which is something I missed during Annihilation. Most of it builds up to his return to Earth and his confrontation with Iron man and Penance in issues 2 and 3.
TMNT: DonatelloAverage issue for this prequal series. It's about the first encounter any of the turtles have with the monsters from the movie.
New Universal #5This issue introduces another character touched by the white event. I really like this series, and I'm recommending it with every issue, but I'm starting to think it's moving a little too slow. There are too many characters to look in on for any one issue, so each issue picks 3 or so (out of about a dozen) to follow, and then it may be 3 or more issues before we get back to them. I'm guessing it'll seem to move a little quicker once most of the characters meet up.
TMNT movie adaptionThis is the last movie adaption I'm going to buy. Ever. Every attempt I've ever seen just looks like the movie in fast forward, and leaves out some scenes assuming the reader knows the character got off the roof, across the street, entered the building, and then punched the guy between the panels.
Ghost Rider #10Jonny convinced the sheriff he was a spirit of vengence pretty easily.

But that wasn't the main point of the story, so whatever. It moved along pretty well, and it seems to have set up the rest of the arc as an awesome fight scene.
Transformers: The Movie Prequal #3This issue was kinda slow, but it introduced the modern witwickities and showed bumblebee getting his alt mode. It looks like there'll be more government/human knowledge of the TFs on Earth than I expected.
6 issues in a week is about the most I can handle, I think. Most of them were good, but after reading the last one, I had to think about what happened in all of them.

USM #108
Ultimate Ronin rocks, and Bendis did a better job with him than I expected. He's another split personality of Moon Knight Very original. I was disappointed by the lack of any of the other Knights though. And it's only been 2 weeks since the Silver Sable arc? So Peter dated Kitty for 2 weeks? Sure seemed alot longer than that.
I saw Target 2006, but passed. I'm not too into the old g1 series.

Spotlight: Kup
The Kup spotlight was...interesting. I didn't like it at first, until about halfway through when I realized what was really going on. Since they said he should've shut down for not recharging for so long, I wonder if the crystals were nucleon.
2 Guns #1
I missed this when it came out last week, but I'm glad I saw it this week. It's from Boom! Studios. Two men are going to rob a bank, and neither knows the other is an undercover cop. It's a 5 issue mini, and this one has me pretty much hooked for the rest.
I passed on the collection of the collector's club comic this week. My LCS didn't realize it was a $10 TPB and ordered 10 copies. I flipped thru it, and I'll probably grab it next week.

Escalation 6
Prime isn't dead. The page or two of his thoughts was a little weird. I wonder if he sensed Big Convoy or Nemesis Prime. Lots of cliffhangers at the end, and waiting all summer for Devastation to start will be hard.
Movie Prequal #4
Action! As much as the prequals revealed, I wonder if some of the movie audience will be a little lost.
Eternals 1
The LCS featured this one for half price this week. I picked it up because Neil Gaiman rocks hard, and it was great, but I'm not real familiar with the Eternals, the Devients, or the Celestials. I'm going back on Free Comic Book day, and I'm going to browse the TPB of the mini to see if I want to read the rest of it. I know wizard didn't give it a very good review.
DMZ: volume 1
I had $10 extra to spend this week, so I browsed the TPB racks looking for something new to try. I've heard great things about this series, and the first volume was $9.99, so I bought it. I haven't read it yet though.

the begginings of some good tales and some nice shorts. i know nothing about the character hellcat, but if i had to guess she is schizophrenic or something. she was funny but i didnt quite get understand what was going on. the spidey short with the alternate universe renditions was hilarious. the things story was sappy, but i liked it. id reccomend it for a buy.

My LCS didn't get in their full shippment, so I bought some stuff that's been out a while.
Faker 3-this is a 6 issue series from vertigo by Mike Carey, and so far it's been pretty grand. If you haven't picked it up yet, I'd suggest waiting for the trade though.
Civil War Chronicles #1 - I didn't follow civil war at all, other than INTERNET reviews becuase I didn't have the money to follow the whole thing. For $5 an issue, CWC collects 2-3 issues of civil wars stories cronologically. This makes me happy becuase, not only do I get to read CW now, but I can go back later and read it all in order without having to dig around alot in my collection.
