Well after 2 weeks on and off and more than 10 hours I haver my collection back up on shelves and more or less sorted by generations! I still have a crap load of carded KO's and other items to put up on display, but this is the first time I've had open room on my shelves and it feels good!

So how often does everyone here go around sorting and cleaning up their displays?
Drewbie
I can only display about 1/4 of my collection at a time. I have some that are always out, and some that I have on a rotation that I change about every month or so.
masterminicon
I like my displays the way they are. I only take them down once every two weeks for housekeeping purposes and then back up they go.

I sort them by faction, then series. And size is a factor as to where they go in the display itself once sorted. So, my Ultra Cybertron Jetfire goes in the back. To his side is Voyager Cybertron Vector Prime, and to his other side is Ultra Cybertron Defense Red alert, and to Red's side is Voyager Cybertron Defense Scattorshot. In front of them are all my Dlx Cybertron Autobots, and then in front of them are a few Scouts. The shelf below is the remaining Voyager and Scout figures from Cybertron, my Optimus Primal (bat, gorilla 10th anniversary vs set version, Transmetal), Lio Convoy, and some Mini-Cons. The shelf below that are my two big Autobots E. Omega Supreme and GF Megalo Convoy (Cyb Metroplex), and on the floor of that shelf (which is the bottom of the display case), are Cyber Keys, and stuff from my Sigma 6 figs. The shelf on top holds God Ginrai, Alt. Prime, THS-02, Classics and E. Superion. On top of the case are my Alts with 20th Anni. Prime.

My other display case from top of case to bottom. Top of case: G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Cobra Commander, Zartan, Storm Shadow with Cobra Ninja Hovercycle, Ninja BAT, Sky BAT, Armada puzzle and Lio Convoy's box. Top shelf: GF Master Megatron, Armada Galvatron, RiD Megatron, E. Galvatron, BWX Vs. Megatron, TM Megatron, TM2 Megatron, Classics Megatron/Screamer/Astrotrain/two pack G2 style Megatron. Shelf below is all Cybertron Decepticons. Shelf below that is mostly E. Decepticons with GF Fire Convoy, RiD Slapper and Gas Skunk (sadly Dark Scream met my dog), RiD Ruination, BWX Preds and BW FKTM Waspinator. Shelf below (bottom shelf), Cyb King Screamer, E. Screamer, GF Screamer, Armada Tidal Wave, Cyber Keys and Sigma 6 Cobra stuff.

Then on my armoir are GF Savage Wing Convoy (took off Prime's right arm and attached Leobreaker and along with them is Wing Saber), Armada Magna Jet Convoy, Energon Wing Convoy, Alt Grimlock, Alt Swerve, MIB Reissue Star Convoy, Primus and Cyb Unicron on top of boxed Star Convoy. And on the left side of my stereo, Sigma 6 variants, on the right, Sigma 6 Snake Eyes variants.

Then there's a shelving unit to under the window with my E. Autobots, my RiD Autobots including Omega Prime, my BW X figs, my TF comics and some kitbashes.

On my nightstand is the core Sigma 6 Unit (Duke, Heavy Duty, Long Range, Snake Eyes, Kamakura, Spirit, Tunnel Rat, Hi-Tech, and Sigma 6 Firefly (still need Lt. Stone who I haven't seen) and stuck in Arctic Snake Eye's Timber with them).

i try to keep mine sorted by series for the most part, there are acceptions though, like i've got my cyb soundwave and two rumbles with my classics, and all the uber large figs (20th OP, Primus, cyb SS, and Unicron) are all in a row on top of the entertainment center, just so happens i decided to put my classics in front of them, but realy theres no reasoning behind it. also i've put my G1 titaniums with my g1 figs. i rearrange them randomly, going from alt mode to bot mode, different poses (accept the g1 guys as thats pretty limited) and back. i'd kill to have a big huge glass display case to actually set up some dioramas as i'm constantly thinking of them in my mind, but yea i've got more pressing matters to worry about :-P i'm constantly having to rearrange my minicons though as those things just don't like to stand up for me. i don't have room right now for everything, that will change as soon as i can get a stud finder. i might not have to wait that long though because soon i'm replacing the subwoofer box in the car so i'll be bringing the one out there now inside, i'm thinking of putting it on the dresser and putting figs on that, i should have enough room for what i've got left.

Faction and Series
THE STIG
i always have the newest figure(s) of the month on display regardless of faction or series. all the other open stuff goes back into storage (sorted by series of course)
tentagil
Kinda by faction, then its where ever they fit. Soundwave and his cassettes for instance are currently standing next to TM Megatron and God Neptune.
Valandar
I just do it by size - little guys in front, big guys behind, and Unicron on the top of the bookcase. If I had any other Supremes, they'd be up there with Unicron.

I have four places where I keep TF's. No where is there really a sorting by official line or year.

1) Living room on the bookshelves in front of the books. This is the special stuff. Here I keep my alts & Bt's along with the MP. Also displayed here is all the versions I have of the ultra Primal (see pic below smiletf.gif ), RiD Scourge, AAOP, pre-TF's, some repaints and other figures that are special to me.

2) In my study room (yeah right rolleyestf.gif) I used to have another bunch of shelves for books (science stuff) but I stored those in the attic because I had planned to do some reconstruction. In the mean time I'm using it for displaying the Star Trek ship (model kits) and a bunch of TF's. One shelf is for my beast wars groups, consisting of regular BW figs, BW2, BWneo and even 5 of the BM Dinobots. The other shelves contain a variety of TF's also from different lines that make up my own TF line: BW, BWneo, BM, Rid, Armada, Energon, Cybertron/GF and Universe (CL Cliffjumper will probably end up with this as well, and maybe a few movie figures too). With this there is a sorting of a sort: faction-subgroup, but all of my own design.

3) Another bunch of shelves in my study. On top are the four large ones: Brave Max, A Unicron (to be replaced with the E version), C Primus and E Omega Sentinel (actually a Sentinel/Supreme hybrid). Beneath that are two shelves which I label Robotmasters, but actually contain RM plus a variety of basics and one deluxe (and when I have him CL Jetfire) of several different series (G2, E and C). Then you get a shelf with G1 autobots: Jetfire, Magnus, Thunderclash and the (diaclone) cars plus two RiD cars. Below that is a bunch of figures from Cybertron (CD team, Soundwave), RiD Dreadwing set and SL Galvatron G). Lower shelf containts E Dinobots and the G1 seekers

(Also have a few TF's on my desk, mostly to be kitbashed figures)

4) bunch of boxes in the attic containing the remainder of my G1 and thing I'm going to paint or kitbash.

There's very little change in this display. Sometimes things change (the G1 cars and seekers is a pretty new addition; used to be in the attic), but most remains constant.
Maximo Prime
My stuff used to be all over the apartment, but once my fiancee moved in, and i had a spare room (yay!!!) they all went in there... I've got one bureau with 2 shelves holding G1, a five shelf BC that's not finished, holding BW/BM, another one next to it holding Cybertron, RID, and another one holding Armada and Energon. I'm not done putting up all my figs...
Goktimus Prime
Similar situation as Maximo there, got a spare room with all my Transformers all over it. Sorted by faction and vintage.

i just spent the whole day reorganizing my display, all my tfs (accept 20th OP, Primus, Cyb SS, Uni, and KO's) are in alt mode now. damn that took a long time!
Goktimus Prime
I display most of my TFs in robot mode because they take up less space that way.

sometimes i just get a hankering to transform and put 'em all in alt mode. they don't stay that way long thogh, they're already starting to bother me
AutobotMaximal
My collection is mostly by series and faction, but with some of them I chose faction first and some series only.

Before the wench moved in and I started selling stuff, I had three wall units, the top of my dresser, and an extra dresser full inside and on top of my over 1400 figs all on display. Now, I keep my BTs/Alts in a glass case, my MPs are with my Master Grade Quebley, Pepsi Prime and Magnificus are with my Microman figures, my "Classics" Autobots are on top of a small bookcase, ton of Jet figures under another table, and a couple other small displays in front of books on the book case shelves. They rotate every now and then when I'm cleaning or wanna look at different figures. Gotta say my favorite displays are the few figures in front of the books. Compared to when I had tons of figures standing all over the place, it looks so much better to just have a few.
AMG
By factions mostly. But I will mix things up from time to time during the annual dusting.

My set-up:

I'm changing the shelves on the left soon (notice the lack of room for "Classic" toys) to:

A/E/C/C - Earth Planet & similar stuff. (normal looking vehicles, etc)
A/E/C/C - Speed Planet & similar stuff. (futuristic looking vehicles, etc)
A/E/C/C - G1 style stuff. (A-Unicron, E-Downshift, C-Soundwave, etc)
A/E/C/C - Jungle Planet & similar stuff. (beasties!)
A/E/C/C - Giant Planet & similar stuff. (constuction vehicles, minicons, etc)

(A/E/C/C = Armada/Energon/Cybertron/Classic... in case anyone was unsure!)

Once I get a new TF I usually have another idea on how to re-arrange my displays...

And if the balance between good or evil tips, I usually rearange alot more. I like balance...

I've run out of room on my main shelves so I came up with the idea to string fishing line from my drop ceiling to have an airborne team... The Decepticons outnumber the Autobots in the air, but my heroic ground forces even out the numbers...

But my core team never changes:

Galaxy Convoy. Vector Prime. Evac. Excellion. Cyb Crosswise. Cyb Armorhide. Classics Jetfire.
GF Galvatron. Energon Galvatron. RID Megatron. SL Laserwave. GF Starscream. Cyb Sideways.
and RID Scourge... He's in the middle...

Once I know a new line is coming I also may set up the figures differently...
A few welcome new reinforcements:

Classics Bumblebee. Armada Nemesis Prime. Energon Quickstrike. Universe Devastator. Energon Barricade...

And I'm planning the arrival of TFs to come:
MP Megatron. Classics Ultra Magnus and Skywarp. Titanium Rodimus. Titanium Ultra Magnus. Titanium WW Megatron. Titanium Fallen.
and the few movie figs I'm actually going to buy... Prime. Ratchet. Barricade.

I'll constantly cycle though TFs until my ultimate squad is assembled...
Or at least the coolest ones are out on display...

Good topic. We all have a display to be proud of. And we all have this labor of love...

Keep it going!
Buddykiller
i'm in the process of tfing everything back into bot mode, it's amazing how much more time it takes to go from alt to bot to display as opposed to the other way around. i'm only a few basics from having the T!Ts, g1, and cybertron all fixed.

on a disturbing note, somebody has thieved my CL Bumblebee! theres only been three people in this room, me, a buddy (who has absolutely nil interest in tfs) and the cable repair guy. the jetpack was left behind, but why steal a $10 toy when theres a $70 sdcc exclusive sitting right there in front of you?! needless to say, nobody's allowed in the room without supervision now.
Goktimus Prime
That totally sucks. Having been a victim of burglary myself - including having experienced having Transformers stolen from me - I can sympathise. Gggrrr...
Buddykiller
well, i'm lucky that it was only cl bumblebee, something which is readily available and cheap. i just can't understand why take him and not his jetpack? also, why take that one? it just doesn't make sense. it makes you think that i've just lost it, but theres no where for it to have gone.
Calcifer
Since I'm in an inbetween houses at the moment (I'm renting a floor until august) my collection is for 95% in storage in freakin' Germany right now. I only have a small portion of my TF's on display and they're sorted by series (Sort of). This evening I plan to put a lot in boxes so I can make some room for new stuff. I'm sticking to G1 untill the movietoys get released and I plan on making it look very sweet.
Goktimus Prime
Well when I was burgled I lost my original (i.e. not reissues) Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ultra Magnus, Galvatron and Hot Rod. Despite the fact that I have the reissues of all these toys, it will never replace the childhood memories that they held for me - i.e.: these were the actual toys I grew up playing with. And being all beaten up and worn, they wouldn't sell for much.
Tripredacus
I have a very few amount of toys displayed. I have 3 shelves.. I think I posted a pic of what is on them in my collection thread, wherever that thing is. Right now its just Insecticon stuff but I am slowly running out of room because I have been putting hockey memorabilia up on there too. As some of you may know, I don't buy TFs during the NHL season. The only other thing I have displayed is my MIB Car-Bot Brave Maximus, mostly because you can't really hide that one anywhere.
Hellscream333
I have nearly my whole collection on display seperated by line and faction. The only thing I have left in a box are some beast wars that I have absolutely no room to display. I preffer to have them displyed since I like to play (I mean that is what we really do) with them and rather enjoy being this surrounded by what I love. As of the moment my collection is very cramped due to my recent pattern of buying. However, this month I will be getting a new 7ft shelf to clean up the cluttered look (of which I so dispise) and throwing down for quite a few 1/64 display cases that will be hung on the wall and display my smaller figs.
Goktimus Prime
7 feet = 3.1m (Google)

I don't display anything else with my Transformers. They're all displayed in our second bedroom and the only non-TF toys in there are two KOs. Otherwise everything in this room is a legit Transformers product. All my other toys are displayed outside of this room. My Transformers are xenophobic and heavily discriminate against non-TFs. The KOs here exist as heavily persecuted second class citizens... and rightfully so. As we all know, KOs are extremely retarded abominations against nature (and are also secretly the mindless minions of the evil Bordoggy)
DjinniMan
On my desk, i keep Primes on the left and right of my monitor, and two small black wall shelves full of Primes on the wall behind my desk.

One one shelf, large figs at the top, regardless of series. Next shelf, all G1. Down from there, Nemesis Primes and Ultra Magni. The next three shelves are all Cybertron.

Another large shelf has Primus vs. Unicron with LoC figures up top. The two shelves below are Alts with their matching G1 counterparts. The shelf below this has some favorite Armada figures (Tidal Wave and Jetfire) plus Classics and one leftover Titanium. Bottom two shelves are comics.

A small bookshelf full of books is topped by Megatrons and Galvatrons. It's getting quite crowded, I may have to move it elsewhere. I also have a small wall shelf that displays my Prowl collection.

See the sig link for pics!
Goktimus Prime
The only books and comics that are in my TF room are TF books and comics. All non-TF books and comics are shelved elsewhere.
BowB4Prime

as soon as possible, replace E Rodimus w/ Titanium rodimus prime. you may or may not be planning on this, but yea, he fits right in :-P

i just finished putting all my tfs into bot mode (i know, i'm a procrastinator) and took pics, but i think i'm going to re-take my g1 set up after i get my SW today.
