Okay so season 2 finished up. A great season, for Zuko as a character, not much for Ang other than being a whiny baby about having to be the avatar. I miss season 1 Ang's jovialness but oh well. I always knew Iro would join the good guys, but I expected Zuko to follow suit. Even though it is still evident he will eventually, his betrayal of Iro at the end of season 2 was enough to make me not care for his redemption.... f*cker

I was disappointed as well, but I can't say I was surprised. Zuko is one of the key characters in the show, second only to Aang in importance probably. His story arc is only 50% finished now; a fully redeemed Zuko at this point would leave you with nothing for him for the next two seasons.
Plus he's still obviously conflicted about his decision. I think there's a lot that needs to happen with his character yet anyway.
Also, to be realistic, were we really expecting Zuko to completely reverse everything that had ever defined him just because he spent a few months serving tea? Yes, he learned a lot and grew a lot, but his desire to regain his father's approval was probably just dormant rather than destroyed. It could have gone away in time... if he'd stayed in that tea shop for the next 20 years, perhaps. But he's still too close to his old life to really be free from it yet.
BTW I didn't really think Aang was being whiny; the very first time it was revealed that he was the Avatar, his response was "I never wanted it". If anything, his decision to let go of Katara at the end of the final episode was proof of his willingness to accept who he is.
And I thought you would have been all like "Aang is who I am; the Avatar is what I can do" about him or some such gheyness

I was under the impression that they had recorded all of "book" two before his passing. At least that's how it sounded to me since I was listening and I couldn't hear any difference in his voice. So if they already had replaced him, they did a heck of a job.

In a sense, yes, but if you ever get a chance to read an interview with the creators you'll find that these guys aren't at all shy about naming their inspirations and seem to know enough about anime to pull from the best aspects and go light on some of the others. This isn't Teen Titans or Totally Spies where they don't know when to quit with the sight gages, these guys have perfected timing on Avatar. Couple that with deep, meaningful story telling (something that seems minor in one episode can be important in a later episode), great animation and character designs, flawless voice acting, and some very impressive fight coordination (Zuko versus Jet FTW!) with the entire concept of "bending" and all of its intricacies, they may have come close to making the most perfect and well rounded animated series to be produced in the US.
I remember when the first episode premiered thinking, "Hey, this is really good, I bet Nick cancels it before the end of the month." Thankfully they seem to be just as happy about it, enough so that they're actually starting to look into airing real anime again too (Akihabara@DEEP and Domo-kun are supposed to air soon).

No, not in complete episodes, and only in minor parts. Like the episode they paid honor to mako, it wasn't mako's voice in the end of iroh's segement. There was another time, but I can't remember when, or that was the only time ((seriously the most I remember now is that all the fanboys/girls make hundreds of thread how they hate zuko now.))

To answer the questions etc., Avatar is one of the best shows I've seen on TV. Of course now that I've said that, you'll watch it and be disappointed. But it really is fantastic. The writing is first-rate, as is the animation; the characters are compelling, the story totally draws you in... it really is an epic. Conceptually it's great; the world is very clearly influenced by Oriental culture, but it also has a rather Western sensibility in some ways. And it's funny as crap when it needs to be. On top of that it's got a lot of artsy touches that give me wood.
They know how to use all the conventions of anime humor, but it's not overdone at all. It always fits with the mood of the scene etc. And there are a lot of "WHOA" moments in the show.
They have both seasons on iTunes for $30 each if you're interested in going that route. (20 episodes per season)
I could go on, but it just rules a lot. I mean, at the end of season one I found myself saying "man this f*cking
rules".

Avatar is truely a gem in the vast wasteland of animation. Its intelligently written, not dumbed down for the youngsters. Its story is solid, exciting and humourous. Just the right mix. Don't watch it with super high expectations just leave your mind open and I guarantee you'll be entertained in one form or another. If you're going to go into it with negative perspectives then don't watch it at all and go back to watching... "blech"

Just when you think Avatar can only keep going up, this happens:
http://www.variety.com/article/VR111795695...=1&nid=2564"M. Night Shyamalan and Paramount are planning their own "Avatar" project, based on the popular Nickelodeon kids TV series.
The filmmaker has inked a three-picture deal with Par's MTV Films and Nick Movies to adapt animated kiddie skein "Avatar: The Last Airbender" for the bigscreen. He will write, direct and produce the potential kids franchise.
Film version will be live-action."
Talk about a sure-fire way to destroy a popular franchise. And people think the live action Transformers is a bad idea...

i like avatar but i have not yet seen all of the second season due to Nick going back to the start and reseting twice made me stop watching, i may have to see wether it is at a point i can watch from again so i can see the end to book two (i'm wondering if there will be more than one more season (Aang already being an air bender makes me doubt there will be any more after the next if it is fire)
IMO a live action version of this could not work properly in real life, it's only semi-believable because it's a cartoon, live action it would just be cheesy if it isn't artistic)

the first four words you hear in the show intro are "water, earth, fire, air" which matches the progression of the story thus far. Going by what happens at the end of season 2, I think "Fire" would make a very appropriate title for "book three".
and BTW the show is best when watched in one sitting... if possible

I found this just now, it's old news but still might be considered slightly spoiler-y:
(from

"AVATAR continues to be one of our top shows with kid and tween audiences who keep tuning in for the layered storylines and incredible, animated martial arts," said Marjorie Cohn, evp, development and original programming, Nickelodeon. "In season three, Aang will confront his biggest enemy yet along with Katara and Sokka, and meet his destiny by facing the evil Fire Lord at last."
"When we came up with the original concept for the show, we intended Aang’s first journey to culminate by facing the Fire Lord in the third season," said Konietzko.
"We’re excited that we will be able to complete that original vision for the series and allow Aang to meet his fate," added DiMartino.

SHe's hot, though. As a character, she's one of the most interesting characters, being vicious, straightlined, powerfull, determined, and intelligent. Unlike Zuko, who is not much different than your standard "tormented loner" anti-hero. Where the more we learn from Zuko makes us more symphatetic to him, the more we learn from Azula, we gain more knowledge and understanding of her character, yet no sympathy.
