Get over to Wal-mart now and get the NEW release of probably the best Diaclone related pilot out there.  Renamed SPACE TRANSFORMERS, the cover (pictures will come in later) features a guy aiming a gun straight out in an orange suit (think it’s the guy from Akira touched up) with a helmet, and a Gundam robot head in the bottom left corner. 

I have not watched the movie yet, but the pictures on the back cover are shots from Diatron – 5.  I paid $20 for a crappy vision copy many many years ago, made a very good custom cover for it and all.  Might still have some screen shots from it but then new shots from the DVD will probably be better. 

Diatron 5 was kinda strange.  Plot was aliens attacked the home planet (?  Diaclone?) pilots of these Starblazers like ships were insect looking (Alien drivers, the first time we get to see real Alien drivers!) with a human as their leader.  They used the Warudarus (pardon the spelling) gestault to fight, and rear up the defending ships (some laws of physics broken there) “Diatron – 3â€? aka Big Powered is sent to battle them, as well as the inner robo suit. 

Then we flash down to the planet, where some ninja guy takes out a person named “Girl geniusâ€? or what ever.  She is the brains behind the good guys computer system or something…Shrunken Warudarus gestaults and their human red haired female commander are sent inside the girl to do I don’t know what, and neither do they.  Some how they get involved with beings like the cavity creeps, and fight towns full of people with in this girl.  Residing inside a skull head castle.  Its up to a young boy, his girlfriend, and Diatron -5 to save the day (Diatron -5 aka Battle Buffalo). 

Oh there’s a cameo from Scope Dog in there as well.  But not like its supposed to be. 

This disk could be a mix of other series, like the others by this company so I will have to review it tomorrow and report back. 

The back of the box reads:

“When space renegade, Tonga, threatens the Earth, the world looks to Ivy, the only girl who can direct a successful counter attack.  However, after being shot with bacteria beings, Ivy is in an irreversible coma. 

Using new technology, a crew consisting of Captain Chi, Nancy, and the robot Baipam and Diatron 5, is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into Ivy’s body in order to defeat the invaders.  Enlisting benevolent beings found inside Ivy’s body, the crew prepares for an inter space battle that can decide the fate of the world.  Time is short, however, as Tongs and his followers move closer to accomplishing their goals…â€?

That's definately Kenada, but also looks like there is a Voltron-esque person on the back.

I still especially like the part where they end up flying BACKWARDS through space!!! 

Does the movie even have Kaneda or Gundams in it?

Nope. 

The pilot show its self is lousy, BUT it is cool to see cartoons of 4 Diaclone characters in action.  AND the alien drivers. 

The whole thing kinda gives you an idea of how the Diaclone series could have been.
