last week i was standing around when i heard this guy talking about wolverine. i walked up and heard him saying some completely off the wall stuff (like wolverine had to regrow all his bones after Magneto ripped his entire skeleton out, i was all like "wtf are you babbling about?"). well after correcting him on most of the stuff, like the above misinformation, he said that now wolverine's skeleton was made entirely out of adamantium, intrigued as to where he was going with this new randomly made up fact, i let him explain how this happened. after his lengthy explaination of how wolverine supposedly sought out weapon x and asked them to put his adamantium back (he actually said all of that), i proceded to demean him in front of everyone as i corrected him to the extreme, going so far as to even quote specific issues.
has anyone else just completely flipped out on someone for acting like they knew what they were talking about when they really had no idea?
Teh INTERNETS ^_^

Like when people claim to remember stuff from Transformers that didn't actually happen? Yeah, all the time.

I've never "blasted" anybody, but rather just showed them up for the morons they are. I've run into guys wearing TF sweatbands that claim to be fans, but when I mention anything about Beast Wars or TF comics they have no clue what I'm talking about.

Not really blasting, but in Medieval English Literature, I made a comparison between Gawain and Superman, when the professor said Gawain's power grew and deminished with the passing of the sun. She didn't get it, so I explained how Superman gets his powers from the sun as well.
In another Literature class, I did however blast the teacher, when he made an in my eyes rather condesending remark about Science Fiction. I made him clear that there are several kinds of Science Fiction, like sci-fi and Hard SF.

I blasted somebody who once maintained that Barry Allen would come back and replace Wally West as the Flash. He also claimed to be a huge Batman fan but had no idea who Azrael was.

This thread reminds me of that scene in TFTM where Trypticon says to Metrotitan "You do know that you're just a tacky remold, right?"
Remember that bit?

I guess every one can make the odd mistake when trying to remember the entire continuity of their favourite character.

Not comics.
I had a friend who ran an EBGames.
He overheard some highschool kids talking.
Kid 1: "What's this Halflife 2 that's coming out?"
Kid 2: "It's just some Halo ripoff..."
No, we did not kill them. We should have.

This is TF cartoon related, but it must be shared.
My boss and I got into a long debate which actually stopped my working and thusly earning my company money for 30 minutes while I had to listen to him tell me that Megatron and Galvatron in the cartoon were two different characters...so much so that Megatron came back in the last season and he and Galvatron had a duel in which he turned into the gun, shot Galvatron, and killed him to resume command of the Decepticons. I generally let ignorance go...but my boss was a douche, so I had to remind him of Unicron turning Megatron into Galvatron in the movie. My boss, in his infinite friggin' wisdom stops talking for at least 30 seconds before he says "Yeah, but Megatron still came back and killed Galvatron". Ultimately, after that, I gave up and just nodded my head, as I began to fear for my job. A tiny piece of me died inside.
I've since quit that job and found a new one after forcing his superior to transfer me off of his team so he would not be my direct supervisor and, thusly, not my problem. But it was when he wanted to discuss "all five Harry Potter books" that I thought it best to just find a new job.

You know what I would have done? I would have brought a copy of TF:TM, then brought in all six(At the time) harry potter books.
Then tied him to a chair, and forced him to watch/read them all, on pain of death.
