A lot of people ask about the Diaclone Swoop. Did it or did it not come with a driver or not? Evidence is rather sparse, with little proof but it is there.
Unlike the other Dino's, the box its self does not come with a slot for a driver. Most of the Diaclone toys had in their Styrofoam inserts, a spot for their drivers. Even the TraSformer toys still had these spots, with or with out the drivers. Also, the toy its self does not have an obvious seat as each Dinobot has a compartment or cockpit.
Those fortunate few that have, or have sold a Diaclone Swoop show that the driver actually did come with it. At least with the original Diaclone version, unclear if TraSformers did, as the other TraSformers Dino's did in fact come with drivers. Included along with the baggie of gold-chromed missiles came a yellow rob suit driver. But to pilot from where?
Swoop joins the ranks of the later Diaclones who did not have an obvious spot where their drivers fit in Robot mode. Prowl and others like him work fine in vehicle mode, however robot mode has no safe place for him to sit. The best place for him in Vehicle mode would be on top between the folded up Dino legs.
Shots of the Instructions from the Diaclone Swoop might shine some light on the issue. It might not tell us where the seat is, but it might show that it did officially come with the driver in the accessories list.
Here are some shots I took of my Diaclone swoops. Enjoy. And if you come across picts of the instructions, please share here!
(note, the robot shot with driver in chest is minus the dino beak)
