I picked this up on a whim today. I didn't know it was coming, but I really like the surfer, and it's only $3. The art is fantastic, and the story moved pretty quick.

I wa really looking for toweard the whole annhilation crossiver but the art and story were so lame in the prologue, I think I'm only going to get the Surfer and Nova parts.
I do want to see how, through Planet Hulk, this ties into Civil War, though...

I picked up Super Skrull today. It seems promising.

Skrull was a good read. Was good to see him kicking some ass. Surfer has some potential. I'm not normally a "cosmic" fan mind you...now the Ronan book is being written my Simon Furman, so we all know tha thas to be read lol...

Now that all the #1s are out, I think Super Skrull and Nova are the best. Silver Surfer's a close 3rd and Ronan...well...it's not bad.
Starscreamer
Apr 27 2006, 06:12 PM
agreed...so the Nova Corps basically Marvel's GL corp, except it seems no one cares...lol

Apr 27 2006, 08:21 PM
The Worldmind entry for Nova was kinda backwards. In the prologue, they established he was a noob nova guy and hadn't ever been off earth before. Then his back story has him being the inheritor of the last nova power, then restarting the entire corps?

note to self...do NOT tick off Super Skrull...by far the strongest book in ths run...

I think it's art is great too. I like the way SS uses one or more of his powers casually in nearly every panel.

now...I just hope he axes the kid...he is just a pawn after all heh heh heh

I think the kid'll make it though the series. I forsee SS seeing him as a son before it's over.

on both points.
If they made either Super Skrull or Nova an ongoing after Annihilation, I'd be exstatic. y'know, if they had a way to bring SS back.

I am kinda happy w/ skrull...and kind of hope they keep him dead...just for some finality...
But Nova...talk about most improved character of that lot...

I don't have the issues with me anymore. Did they actually state that SS died in that blast? Or was it just heavily implied?
Drewbie
Jul 27 2006, 06:03 AM
well, all the minis are over, and Ronan really sucked. If the events are taking place 88 days after Annihilation day, why the hell doesn't anyone what the wave is? The Kree have to know about it, because that's how Super Skrull found out about them in the Prologue.

So, where does this take place against "Young Avengers?"

In the last issue of Vol. 1, Super Skrull ends up impersonating Hulkling to keep Hulkling on Earth with his friends. Does this mean Annihilation took place before all this, or is this one of those Marvel "continuity" things?
Drewbie
Jul 27 2006, 09:58 AM
Annihilation must take place after that impersonation.

oh man...issue one came out and DAMN! sux to be in space...I just wish that this hits those poor x-men in space...
I love all 4 series...even though Ronan was the weakest lead up...the final issue of his series was all DAMN!
And he is definitly badass extrodinaire...

#1 was awesome, and had a lot more action than I was expecting. I think all but 3 pages were fight scenes. I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of the series, and I hope Praxagora returns.
In the big spread panel on pages 2-3, did it immediately make you think of Starship Troopers?

whooooo!!!
Forget Ultimate Avengers...THIS should be adapted to a movie...best damn scifi I've read in ages....Ronan laying out the kree commanders, Thantos being a total jackass...and Drax being a total Badass....does it really get better?
Drewbie
Sep 15 2006, 12:03 PM
it does get better. after annihilation is over, Nova gets an ongoing, Quasar and Super Skrull get a mini, and the Hearlds get a mini.

Sep 15 2006, 02:20 PM
if they can keep this level of writing up...damn...
I used to HATE these guys, always a bit too aloof and such, but now...*whew* I hope they keep "Starlord" with Nova...

I hope the Nova series is more like the Nova mini than the nova in annihilation. He's still cool, but I thought he was more interesting when he was arguing with worldmind.

Nova warned Earth about the wave at the end of issue 3 because Annilus will hit Earth in 3 months. I hope this doesn't crossover with any of the civil war stuff.

Civil War, no.
On the other end, what event do we know about, set in a few months from now, that revolves around a character that is currently in Outer Space?
World War Hulk seems to be packing quite the punch.
Drewbie

I suppose the helping the allied forces against the wave would provide Hulk with a way back to Earth
But I don't think he'll make an appearance. Nova will be the hero of this story.

Anyone who enjoyed or missed Annhilation better not miss the boat for Annihilation II: Conquest.
It's following the same plan as the original: a prolouge, 4 minis (Quasar, Starlord, a new character Wraith, and issues 4-7 of Nova), then another 6 part Conquest story. Don't miss your chance to see Rocket Raccoon!
