I think I started out posting here and made a post about collection shelves and what not.

I have been researching other peoples collections rooms, and have to say they all have something to impress.

BUT...recent events in my life have made me think and rethink my ultimate goal, to have a home with a collection room or case.  The original idea was to use a basement, and devote an entire wall, with highly detailed shelves, lights, and even plexi enclosed, possibly even with a curtain to hid the whole thing...but probably will not be able to afford a home with a basement.

Most people, have taken a small, spare bed room and turned that into TF heaven.  I am not sure that is going to work for me.  I can of course put out some of my collection, and get most of the desired effect, but a little room, probably 1/2 computer room 1/2 my stuff isn't as appealing as the basement FUN room.

Question here is, did anyone else who made their collection room settle and make due with cramming things into one little room.  And if so why?

Ever wonder how collectors like Preto or the Heartmans have their stuff laid out?
I know Doug Dilin has his stuff in storage, or did much like I did.  Not sure about Ben Yee, have not talked to him in ages.

Well I just live in a tiny one bedroom flat and the TF's are displayed in the living room, the living room is barely big enough for the display unit, furniture and one person.  Maybe one day I'll finally be able to move to somewhere a little bigger, not likely since houses are expensive and the local council isn't very good at giving flats to non-druggies.
I manage to cram the TF's in by being creative and using the size of the TF's to the best advantage and chances I have.

I have my collection in a very nice display cabinet I just bought a couple of months ago. I have almost always had my collection in my "study"/office and I knida like it that way. I can sit at my computer and play around and then if I get bored look at my collection or take one out and play w/ it.

It is interesting b/c I also just bought a house and now I actually have a small, spare bedroom that would be perfect for a TF room, but I am keeping it open for a spare bedroom once I decide to buy another bed and stuff for it.

I might change that bedroom into a TF room someday b/c my collection already is too big for my cabinet and I will probably buy another one w/in the next few years, and I simply don't have the room for two of those bad boys in my office.

If I do go the TF room route, then I am gonna make it into a really nice looking, museum quality room w/ lights, glass display cases etc.

One day...

POSTERS!!!!  That's another problem I have.  I have tons of posters, all rolled up in storage, and I will probably never have enough room for them, unless I either hang them behind shelves, or on the ceiling.  I did even have the idea to mount them to cabinet doors, but its just not practical.

I just have too much stuff.  heh.

What about trying to get one of those advertising things that flip onto different posters? They'd be cool!  thumbsup1.gif

Well it happened a little sooner than I thought, almost.

I just won a really cheap Fort Max on ebay and now I have no room for Brave Max (who I actually like better, but is getting replaced in the big cabinet by Fort Max).

What I am going to have to do is pull the old converted stereo cabinet out of retirement and use it again. I am running out of space in my office already. Oh well, I think that if I can fit the little cabinet in just right next to the big cabinet everything will be ok.

Soon I may be reduced to making my TF room. We shall see.

I currently have all my Transformers crammed in my room on display, as you can see here. My last house was larger and I actually used an entire lounge room as my Transformers display room - so back then my collection looked like this.

What'd be nice is if I can get a room for all my stuff... Then I'd go al out with displays, lights, little battle scenes and such. Yes, a total geek-out! The good thing is that my wife supoorts the idea (Getting the damned crap out of her sight!), so I'm a lucky guy. However I do not have a place to put it all yet. My entire collection is in the worst place imagineable... 450 km away form me, all boxed up in Germany.

all my tfs are in boxes in my closet waiting for the day i get a place to put them. my ultimate plans for displaying them would be an entire room with glass shelving/cases that may even have doors on them to keep them away from prying fingers.
