I paid for an item about a month and a half ago from a member here, and I still haven't got it. He said it shipped out in Feb. When I PM'd him last week to see if there had been a problem, and he never replyed back.
Would it be inappropriate to list him as "not a good seller" in the feedback thread?

the feedback forum is for possitive repsonses only... but if you want to start a "warning" thread, i think that should be allowed to help protect our members from further problems

You know, there's always the possibility that he was telling the truth, and the item got lost in the mail. I'd be careful about jumping to conclusions before you know for sure that this person was being dishonest.

That's true. However, I'd tend to be skeptical about hearing that excuse. Just from my personal experience, not a lot gets lost in the mail. Depends on if the package had to cross any borders too.

that would be a tough decision. you could have been scammed or he is really telling the truth. try to get a receipt copy or something for proof. It always tells the zip code that it was shipped to and the price... at least when i send stuff via usps i always keep the receipt for proof.

There definitely needs to be a topic to alert people about bad traders otherwise it makes it much easier for someone to take advantage of the trading forum and rip a lot of people off. I agree that flaming shouldn't be allowed in it, keep it clean. It won't totally stop the rip-offs but it should make sure that nobody gets away with it more than once.

That is why people should ALWAYS use Delivery Confirmation or get a Tracking Number.
Two reasons:
1. As topic describes...
2. Protect seller from false claims.
Hopefully you paid by Credit Card or PayPal, that way you can get your money back.

Money Order, and I can't find my reciept

I'll PM him again, and wait one more week. If I haven't received it or heard back, I'll post a warning thread.

I can support that part about things NOT getting lost in the mail. I have sent and recieved 100s of items and never had anything lost in the mail.
As was mentioned, tracking and confimation are must haves with Trades.
If there is Member here who's ripping people off you should let us know. We certainly don't want to be harboring scammers.
That's a good idea. I am going to talk to the staff about setting up a warning thread. It will at very least let people know there is some payback if they dont make good on a deal.

Thanks. I'm glad there is someone else who can support my experiences. I have received hundreds of Transformers from internet users. I have been shipped things from so many states and different countries. I have never had something "get lost" in the mail. Not one. I have way over 100 positive feedback entries for my Ebay account. I've never been left a negative response, so I don't understand this type of thing.
I had one difficult problem getting my auction winnings from a Canadian Ebay user a while back, but once his Paypal account got shut down, I suddenly received my stuff. Of course, it was postmarked the day after his account got shut down so the "lost in the mail" excuse was void. It's a good idea to try to protect yourself as much as possible, but if the seller/buyer is really crooked, they'll find a way to cheat you. The feedback system is probably the best way to avoid that type of thing. Good luck.

I would like to see a warning thread go up as well. I have been recently screwed by a user here who made claims that he was "selling off his collection because he needed $ to get back his daughter (who his wife or gf supposedly ran away with). He will remain nameless for now I guess but anybody who watches this section regularly knows who I'm talking about.

If you have trouble with a scammer, report him to the postmaster on www.usps.com. That way the government has a record of his activity. I reported Casey Collins from GA because he was a cerial scammer that used many, many different names over the last year and a half.

Not to hijack the thread, but didn't he live in Cuba or Puerto Rico? Maybe it really did get lost in the mail. And then he was fired, and that job was his only source of INTERNET, so...but before Christmas? I guess that's way too long to be a mistake. Did he just bow you off after awhile?

He's a long time member of INH, and we're a pretty tight knit community, so people are going to miss him, and that doesn't make them morons.
The End Cap isn't the Be-All-End-All of board relationships. I'm personally not gonna shun him because he may have ripped off GZ, but I'm certainly not going to do business with him. If other instances popped up of him ripping people off than I would have to take his character into question and probably give him Blot/cold shoulder.
