It seems that most stuff put out by BanDai have smoother transformations than anything put out by Has/Tak. Must be some different kind of lube. Weird.

I have all the 1/60's to date, the Koenig Monster, two 1/48s (VF-1A Hikaru), all the original Macross Plus valkyries, plus the two rereleased BanDai Macross 7 valkyries. And a ton of the Toynami SD stuff. Stuff's all in boxes. I need to move into a new place and get some nice shelves before I take everything out for a photo-shoot.

Niiice Dx76! You plan on getting any M+ YFs? Or how about the 1/48 LV?

I cancelled my monster order & didn't get a lo-viz b/c i think it's ugly. I may get a max & millia 1/48 & the monster later, but I waiting for the VF-0S from Macross Zero next.
Hey DragonX76 are you still looking for the 1/48 Millia? I got one if you need one? Pm and lets discuss! Thanks!

I made the choice to collect the Masterpiece line from Toynami. I haven't gotten the Alpha units though because I've had so many expenses for class to take care of (plus half my free cash is in Alternators and Cybertron -_-; eheh). I'm still interested in the Yamato line though... just not too enthused after the VF-19's lame battroid mode.

Oh boy...I made a conscious decision NOT to collect the Toynami MPC Veritechs after getting the first one. Although it's not a completely terrible toy, it's not quite what I expected for the price I paid. I figure the BanDai reissues were a million times more durable (and by that time, half as expensive). I do understand that latter version MPCs were better but I'll never know. I still think about getting Jack Archer's Veritech from time to time.
I did get the first Toynami Alpha just because I'd been pining over the original Gakken ones for so long after owning one. The Toynami Alpha is not bad but has it's quirks and the poor trademarked Toynami QC really shines in this case. However, even with it's flaws, the forthcoming (hopefully) Beta will more than make up for it.
In the meantime, I was able to get my grubby mitts on an original Gakken Alpha (Green version) and I am very happy about it!
Hadlen, you might want to consider a BanDai reissue VF-19 if you like the machine design. Same goofy battroid mode but much, much cheaper, simpler to transform, and a helluva lot more durable.

Because of MAHQ's layout, you can't expect to C&P from your address bar, as you'll always wind up linking back to the index page. You have to right click and "copy link" to get a proper URL. As it is, we have no idea which two you're talking about.
That Zero looks nice, though. Inevitably what turns me off about all the Yamato Valks, though, is the fact that they're not fully transformable, and then there's all the fragility issues you keep hearing about. If they're going to be so expensive, I'd expect them to be *perfect*. If I hear good things about the Zero, though, I might consider picking it up.
Fortress_Maximus
Dec 23 2005, 06:46 PM
They're only fragile if you don't learn how to properly handle them. <_< Most people who own 1/48s learn not to handle them the sameway they'd handle diecasts. It is all about practice and respecting the toy.
As for the fully transformable comment, the 1/48s are the closest of ALL of the Macross toys EVER made to a perfect transformation. Don't know what this means? Do more research.
As for your perfect requirement, there is no such thing for any toy. It is all about what you personally feel is worth your monies. Most people who have the 1/48s don't raise even half the issues you claim that deter you.
I am not railing against you, so don't take this personally. However your comments clearly indicate a complete lack of understanding about the 1/48s and why they are the way they are. The plastic for instance is quite sturdy and as for the prices, these are not in the same league as Transformers.
In many ways the Yamato 1/48s are vastly superior in transformation technology, attention to details and variations. The 1/48s in particularly will soon have the addition of the GBP-1S, which if you are aware is the best one to date and is a must have for 1/48s owners.
The VF-0 is also going to be expensive, there are great reviews for it already, but it too will cost the same as the 1/48s. The prices for these don't go down much if at all. Perhaps this is one toy that you are better off without if it is beyond your budget. Even the used ones w/o boxes fetch 100+.

Can I get a little advice guys?
Though it's waaaaay past the point of being smart, I'm going to pull the trigger on a 1/48, but I can't decide between a VF-1S Hikaru or a VF-1J Hikaru.
The J is more readily available and would cost domestic shipping prices from, say, BBTS, but I don't like the paint job as much as the S (I'd like more of a "Masterpiece Jetfire" feel).
$40 for shipping is a bunch more, but does anyone feel it's justified? Are there any minor improvements to the mold of the J that would make it a smarter purchase?
I'm also thinking of selling this little score I got a while back:(nevermind-- just saw they were re-releasing it in March...

)

Does anyone know if this is supposed to come with a mini-Minmay (that sounds cool) figure? I read somewhere a while back (macrossworld?) that it did, but I have yet to see one.... anyone?
Thanks for the help...

Dude they are reissuing the Yamatos 1/48 not the Bandai 1/55 VF1S (as you are showing)! There is NO mini-Minmei fig that only comes with some of the 1/55s.
I prefer the 1/48 VF1S Hikaru then the 1/48 VF1A Hikaru. I also like the 1/48 Cannon Fodder.
If anyone is looking for a 1/48 Yamato MIB Cannon Fodder contact me. I can hook you up!

yeeeaahhhh, you might want to read that again-- I said I was looking to buy a 1/48 1S Hikaru, which, as I stated in the correction, is being re-issued in March. The picture there, *my own*, was me asking if the minmay figure came with it... I got it at a flea market, as pictured, for $15. Probably the best score I will ever have in my life. What I was asking is if anyone thought that I could get for it what it would cost to get a 1/48 1S Hikaru and a FP, taking into consideration that I don't have the Minmay fig (which I now know came with it, thanks to your reply.) Sorry-- I guess I wasn't clear enough.
But thanks for the words anyway... I'm slowly getting back into Macross since I dropped it when I was 9 and it's just so great to see all these new designs come out!
... lookin forward to the 1s Hikki.....

Feb 5 2006, 09:43 AM
A 1/48 VF1S Hiky runs about $140+ and the 1/48 FP is $60+, add in shipping to whereever you are and estimate about $230 - 240+.
Btw, that is a good score for the 1/55 VF1S. As for the mini-minmay fig thats easy just get one from evilbay if you really need it, otherwise screw it. Save the money.

Lets see this is what the VF1A Hiky looks like:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/karenc1974/Macross/mac8.jpgIt has a red heat shield and a different head single antenna vs the VF1S which has doubles.
this is the VF1S Hiky:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/karenc1974/Macross/mac10.jpgAs you can tell the VF1A has a different head. The VF1S is from the DYRL movie, look at the poster I am selling in the end cap. Both should come with a gun and the strap, unless you get a defect.
Oh and the boxes for both is different.
