Full Version: Vices on Cybertron

Strikeback
So, I'm watching G1 Season 2 and I get to the episode "Microbots." There's a scene where Megatron and the other Decepticons are getting completely blasted on Energon, something I had never thought about before. I watched that scene, then something compelled me to rewatch it again. I was kinda bewildered that they showed drunk robots in a cartoon--shut up, I know you're thinking the same thing--and it got me wondering.

Given that whoever writes the Transformers takes some strides to make them human, do you think that there are other illegal substances on Cybertron? I mean, think about it--in addition to the Energon-blotto session on film, there's also Maccadam's Old Oil Hut in the comics. The Insecticons are forever binging on whatever they can get their hands on. Also, I'm pretty sure in the MTMTE book, there was some talk about how someone needed a shot of something to get him moving. It's meant to be harmless, granted, but it's also somewhat bizarre. You think Prowl and Streetwise ever rolled up on an Energon-meth lab and shut down the empties running the show?

I mean this to be taken seriously...well, as seriously as it can allow. It's a strange topic, granted, but one that could be pretty interesting. Discuss and share.

Depends whom you ask. I'd say all seven deadly sins could be found in abundance on Cybertron, and more...

I've often wondered this too, and in my own fanfics and comics I have placed all kinds of addictions and drugs and such. Just to make it more "realistic" and gritty. It's just something "normal" to have in societies.

Well, Rattrap talks about going to a bar on Cybertron where the fembots walk around without their breastplates if I remember correctly... does that count?

I also remember Silverbolt was out "scouting the enemy" with Black Arachnia one time and when he got back Rattrap was like "find any new... positions?"

Cryotek was a criminal and according to DW's MTMTE he wasn't the only one. Severla of the G-1 decepticons were criminals who joined up with the Decepticons to avoid punishment or to be able to do what they did best.

Crime exists on Cybertron (even before the war).

There is this one headmaster episode where the Autobots get drunk on energon. Wheelie passes out under the table during it I believe. Nice episide, totally weirded me out. BUt that's only an argument if you think getting loaded is a vice.

HA! I remember that episode! I also remember an issue of Dreamwaves comic where I think MIRAGE and PROWL and drinking Energon like they were breaking open two cans of beer.

Needless to say the CYBERTRONIANS are lifeforms, with all the positives and vices that all living societies have. I'd think that there are substances that can be consumed and even sexuality in their society.

What episode was that, and what season?

If you're asking me, I think both of those events may have taken place in the first half of The Agenda, or possibly during the first and second halves.

The Rattrap-Silverbolt-BA thing was from Beastwars second season: "The Agenda part 1"

The drinking Energon out of cans was Prowl and Ironhide in DW's Sunstorm story arc (don't know the issue number).

Listening to Smokescreen talk in the G1 cartoon...he sounds high...all the time. Gives different meaning to his name too.

also while discussing the same bar, Rattrap tells Silverbolt that they put a little (insert name) oil in the energon. maybe it's "ecstasy " optimuslaugh2.gif

Plus Starscream's paranoid ambition and constant irritability, mixed with his inability to say anything without shrieking makes me think he'd be a coke fiend.
