Anime Network finally put up the first Mezzo Forte episode. I saw it and it looked a whole lot like Kite. Now I guess it has it's own hentai flare to it but I wonder if Anime Network is going to show those episodes or not... Has anyone seen this show before?

OK OK. I just got Mezzo Forte raw and watched it. The first episode was cool because it had a cameo of Sawa (from Kite) and also her gun (inside the car.) That was great. The animation is fast and I was surprised a couple times. Now I can't understand Japanese but that doesn't stop me from watching them  thumbsup1.gif

Firstly, I figured there would be sex in it, since the uncut version of Kite does as well. But this was really weird.

And then in the next episode, the girl gets kidnapped when coming back from shopping.

Good use of story. Not sure where this 2 part OAV fits into the new Mezzo series, or if it has anything to do with Kite or not. I still really like the art, and the detail of the damage to the environment. It works really well. The animation is also fast and I was not worried with the fact that I have no idea what they are saying.

The Mezzo series (so far) does not have any nudity or sex in it as the OAV does (Kite had 2 versions and a volume 2 which is impossible to find) and I still wonder to his day how that girl is able to kick everyone else's ass so easily. Sawa in Kite was not very strong and often got owned by larger opponents, so it was slightly more real. And the sex scenes are not possible given the participants "proportions."

Dude don't over analyze that OVA series or Kite. Produced by the same people but you got to remember this series falls under the adult or mature audiences section. Kite even the director's cut was edited b/c there was a scene where she has sex when she is under 18. Yes you got to love censorship even in anime. WTF? Anyways, Mezzo is more artistic in the sense it is not your typical yakuza or killer/adult anime. The sex and the mindless violence is what fans of Yasuomi Umetsu clamour for. That is what both titles achieve, leave it at that.

Who gives a damn of the proportions are off? It looks nice. icon_wink.gif

I watched the first episode of this long ago. Spanish subtitles, japanese dub. It was o.k., IMO. I haven't seen Kite or the second episode of this though.

Actually, the uncut version of Kite that I have has the scene in it that you say was edited. You can tell the timeline because of the style of her hair...

Also something I found out a couple years ago... Kite is pronounced Kit-tay.

But I must say I enjoy the edited version of it better, the story moves along better.

No the licensed directors cut does not have the scene I am referring to b/c I have it on a vcd that was made by fans before it was licensed. I've compared the two versions, the licensed and the fan version... the licensed directors version is still missing the scene.

OK Sorry I was confused there. I have the unlicensed version and the edited version, not the director's cut. Have you seen the vol 2 of Kite? I saw a tape for it at Anime North 2001 but I didn't have enough money to get it. And I have never seen it anywhere in stores. Just to be sure they had 3 different kite tapes there, and they all looked official (well I know the edited one was because I already had it)

Bump for more info. Just watched Mezzo Shell 3 DVD. Is there any episodes after those ones? I don't get the Anime Network anymore since switching to satellite. Well DirecTV does have Anime Network but its only Ninja Resurrection or the Runrouni Kenshin movie that they proclaim as being "new" even though I saw it 5 years ago.

Like I said I don't have the currently licensed version b/c I had the fan released one years before it became licensed on the dvd director's cut. I don't collect vhs, so I cannot help you. You might want to look around online for at least the director's version, if you can just rent it and see if you can tell the differences between your copies.
