I finally bought TF:TM on DVD today. LOSER!! I hear you shout. Well, I did see it in the theater and have had two copies on VHS. A friend "borrowed" my first copy - 13 years ago and never returned it

Anyway, where does "The Movie" fit in your DVD collection?

*shouts "LOSER!!"*
I am the only person in the world who actually bought individual G1 DVDs. My kids like to watch them and I figured they'd get destroyed in box set form (to which my BW box sets can attest)... As a result I have incomplete collections of both Season 2 and Season 3. I lost interest in both somewhere along the way. I have 5 of 8 Season 2 DVDs and only 1 Season 3 DVD. Season 1 is the best IMO anyway, flaws and all.
I never did answer the question though. I keep TF:TM in my DVD shelf and the G1 DVDs are in the basement with the kids' stuff. The only reason why is that Spike is a bit of a potty mouth.

Right now the order is Season 1, Season 2 parts 1 and 2, TF:TM, Season 3 part 1 (don't have part 2 yet) Then I have my Transformers: Heros DVD (season 4) and then Beast Wars season 1. Figured I'd keep them all in order.
Speaking of the TF:TM, has anyone heard anythign further about that version they found that had a bit more to the picture?

Chronological order for me, stick the movie in the middle. I also put Star Wars IV, V, and VI before the prequels, so I guess I'm not a good judge of the "right" way.

G1 boxsets on the right with the BW sets, and the movie on the left. I would put the movie after the G1 boxsets, but there is no room because of a divider in the media tower.

I assume you're talking about pan/scan vs. letterboxed, if so the thought that stuff was cut off the picture for a 4:3 ratio is only a rumor. TF:TM was designed for an "open matte" transfer, which means that to fit a theatrical screen the top and the bottom of the picture were cut off. So the "full screen" image of the current releases will have more picture than a letterboxed release.

I still haven't decided where to put it yet... probably with my "regular" movies just like the GI Joe Spytroops disc that came with Snake Eyes/Stormshadow.
As far as my boxsets, I have Beast Wars (season 3 only

) before the 5 G1 sets. I guess because of alphabetical order more than the timeline. That may change if I ever get the Armada sets. There is NO WAY Armada will come before G1 or Beast Wars

BTW, I wish every boxset could use the Futurama packing method. Each DVD has it's own slimline case. No more looking for a large flat surface to lay the set on. Madhammer's got us all beat on that regard

I put right in the middle between season 2 vol. 2 and before season 3. To me season 1 and 2 and the first half of the movie went into my system fine. Tasted good.
Everything was ok, but when Prime died and I found out most of the other characters I liked died, watching the second half of the movie along with season 3/4 it all came out like a huge a$$ explosion. Kind of like what happens when I eat hot wings!!
Season 1 and 2 with the first half of the movie: Good eats!
Second half of the movie along with season 3 and 4: Diarrhea cha cha cha...

I didn't know that, thanks - though I wish "they" would sell Micron Legend in it's original form (w/ subtitles) in America. Well, that should be said for every original Japanese TF series. I don't want dubbed Armada anymore than I would want dubbed Fight! Super Robot Life Form. Give it to me in the original language - whether it's English (G1-Beast Wars) or Japanese.

the movie goes in the tin that i got with g1 series 1 collection.
in the uk they reeased series 3 as one set and the movie goes before it. sure the colour breaks up the silver look but that will easily be solved when i can be bothered to make it a new sleve.

Yup, pretty much in chronological order for me....so it's:
G1 S1, G1 S2P1, G1 S2P2, TFTM, G1 S3P1, G1 S3P2, (Headmaster VHS bootleg), BW P1, BW P2, BW P3, Armada S1 P1.

I throw both of my versions of the movie after the boxsets and right before my sets of headmaster, masterforce, and victory. And just let it be known, there is NO widescreen version of the movie. So don't get ripped off like I did. Now I have 2 movies on dvd with just different sleeves.

Mine are in a pile next to my Beast Wars box sets. TFTM is in there somewhere, but the silver box sets are beside one another.
I thought I wouldn't be able to watch the G1 cartoon after much BW intake, but I mader myself watch them and I grew to love them for what they are. You should really give them another go round Madhammer. I have all the Beast Wars DVDs and I watched them every might until I got kind of tired of them. Then I put in the G1 DVDs.
EDIT: Mader, whoa! I sound like HP.

G1 has its own special charm for me. But that's how I'd describe it. Season 1 in particular is still fun to watch, just because it's the most evocative of that time when I was getting into TFs. But Season 2 is a really mixed bag. I almost like Season 1 more *because* it's more low-tech budget-wise than Season 2. It seemed to me that there was more focus on characterization in Season 1 as well.
I don't want to start a G1 vs. BW thing here, but for me BW is enjoyable on an adult level, without me feeling self-conscious for watching a kids' show. Even more so with BM.

Ok, I asked New Soundwave this but I guess he hasn't been back in here. Where did you get your Headmasters, SG Masterforce, and Victory? Are they dubbed or subtitled? Also, are they avi files or can you play them on a regular DVD?

Nevermind... I see them all over eBay. I assume this is where you got them.

Does it come with the second episode of Scramble City (the stop motion one) or just the first one? I'm thinking it doesn't have the second one because it's only 50 mins. and it has Zone on it too.

I'm not tooo familiar with the second one. It starts with the pre

is there, but this is just the toons and nothing else. No extras.

Very high quality and it's not a dvd -r which I think is cool.
There is really no alternative. I heard this was released in Asia
as a legit release, but others say it is a bootleg of the high quality.
These are sold as new by anime shops all over the net as new

The reason I believe that they are NOT bootlegs is that creating both English and Chinese subtitles would require a very skilled team. Just the straight Japanese to English fansubs take alot of work to complete, and that's just to get them on the web. Also, Takara would be all over these companies if they were bootlegs. Don't forget that China has the G1 boxsets for sale and they are legit. Now if someone would find and publish the other 5 episodes of Zone locked away in Japan plus the Zone and Return of Convoy/Battlestars comics
