Yeah, yeah. I know we're rumored to be getting a 'real' one, but this has been in my head since I first brought Jazz home, so the project continues apace.

First, teh teaser:

And teh full shot:

I'll be adding black police deco in short order, with the same self-adhesive vinyl stuff I used for Jazz's stripes. After that, I'll make up some custom PD logos for the doors, and then all that'll be left is repainting the head of one of my extra Smokescreens.

Those are from the Impala police model kit. I plan on getting that same kit and replacing the lights on mine so I`ll have the more sporty lights for my Redalert.

Dunno what the car is, but the kit is a Testors Metal Body Model Kit, Police Interceptor with parts and decals to make it from NYC, Denver or Chicago.

Looks good DLP! I think you have the same kit that I used for my Prowl. Look inside it for radio and shotgun to add details.
You say your going to use vinyl for the black on the car? That seems hard to do with all the little bends and crevices on the front of the car.
Good Luck and I can't wait to see it finished.

LOL!
I just mentioned to the guys in the shoutbox this morning I was gonna do that!
As for the vinyl... well, I tried that with one of his feet, and it didn't work well, so I'm gonna pick up some gloss black Krylon Fusion tonight (for the larger pieces) and a bottle of gloss black enamel model paint (for the smaller ones).
It's gonna take longer to finish than I planned, but he won't be wrinkly.

I have no idea.
The trunk, hood, roof and doors will stay white.
The fenders, bumpers and rocker-panels will be black.I'm debating on whether or not to make the roof struts (just behind the doors) black.

Very good stuff DLP. Can't wait to see it all done, you are a great KB'er.
How come you are using the Smokescreen head instead of the Silverstreak head? Streak's head seems more of a Prowl head to me, I was just curious on your take on the head.
Also are you going to add some paint ops to the abdominal area. That is something I've felt Meister/Jazz should have had. What I mean is some paint details on added to his abdomine. So will you put some on your Prowl?

Well, Smokes and Streak have the same head, with different paint colors.
I used Smoke's 'cause I have two extras of him (one earmarked for my eventual Bumblebee project).
I'll be painting the head proper colors later. I actually went ahead and stuck it on there to make sure it fit and all that.
I dunno about his abs, but I am gonna paind the light blue parts on his thighs to dark red metal-flake (which will match the crests on his helmet). Not sure on the arms yet, though.
I AM thinking about, when I get around to making the PD logos for the doors, making a smaller one to stick on the head-cover in the hood....

Yeah that's why I was wondering why you were going with Smokescreen's head over Streak's, cause Streak's really looks more like Prowl, with overall shape, the absence of the "chin-guard", and the new forehead crest/module piece.
The hood cover is a nice idea. So are you going with a San Fran/CA poice model or New York, or something all-together your own with the decals?

I'm planning to use several of the ambiguous decals from the metal-body kit (POLICE, To Serve And Protect, etc), and make up my department logos for the doors (possibly on on the head cover in the hood).
I'm thinking something like "Cybertron Police Department" or "Autobot Police Department".
I may have to make up my own "Highway Patrol" decals, too.. I don't think the model has that.

New update!
Still no update on the car, itself, 'cause I've had to strip the fraggin' thing back down and re-spray it twice. Either it was too cold in the room while the paint dried, or I was putting the paint on too thick--or a combination of the two--kept making the paint crack and wrinkle.

I think I've got it right this time, though. I'm just waiting for the passenger-side fender to dry and set.
In the meantime, I've started painting up Prowl's helmet! (the red paint looks rough 'cause it's only one coat. The funky, filmy bits are scotch tape, masking off the horns)

The color should even out once I put another coat or two on. I plan to repaint the teal bits on his thighs to the same color(red metal-flake).

Progress update!
After multiple bouts of painting, stripping, and repainting, I've decided to just go with the finish it has. Later, when I can get another Meister, I'll pull the front end off of it and try again for the smooth, glossy finish it was SUPPOSED to have.
Until then...

All that's left for the front-end of the car is the loud-speaker/light assembly on the front bumper, and the eventual Autobot and PD decals on the hood.
Right now, though, I'm working on his head and legs, and I need to give his right foot a touch-up.
Aside from the slightly farked-over paint-job on the front, I'm pretty happy with him so far.

Looking Nice DLP... a hint on the face of Smokescreen, the head can be unscrewed and taken apart and the face removed. That way you can keep the paint off of it better and also paint details easier as well.

Ohhh... yeah. I studied tfu.info's pics of G1 Prowl before I started this project, and decided that something about that "widow's peak" design just didn't sit right with me.

Speaking of.. HasTak's Prowl -really- shouldn't be trying to exactly duplicate G1's paint-job, and I hope THAT is just a quirk of the proto.

I'd hoped to make it look a little more professional, but I couldn't keep my hand steady.
I'm planning to scan the metal-body model's decal sheet and reprinting it on a window-cling printer sheet, so I'll probably add in a nicer "PROWL" thing for the plate.

I'm gonna use the generic decals ("POLICE," "To Serve And Protect," etc) from the model kit, and make up new ones of my own for the department logos.
I'm considering "Autobot Police," "Cybertron Police," or "Iacon City Police Department" at the moment.
The "NYC" came from the fact that the model has decals and parts to make NYPD, Denver or Chicago police interceptors.

Practically done now! I applied the decals last night--though they may end up being temporary. They're printed on static-cling window-decal sheets that work best on flat surfaces, so the door and hood (head-cover) emblems are having issues with staying down, due to the slight curvatures there.
I'm looking at ordering some self-adhesive printer paper (for making stickers), for a more permanent set. But, until then, I'm happy with what I've got.
Enjoy!

Here, we have a subtle, double-joke. (Note the "caution" label on the "rear door")
First, that's not really a "door", so nobody's gonna expect it to fly open.
