agreed, ill take this movie like i took the original punisher movie, i accepted punisher as a pretty good action movie, but as for being a punisher movie...possibly one of the worst comic book movies ever
Megabolt
I'm really sad about this I mean the comic book was awesome and now I have to witness another movie which hollywood has &^%$ up.

He also shouldn't have been played by Keanu Reeves. He was cool as Neo, but that is about it. He is in no way shape or form a badass. I don't know much about Constatine, but I know Keanu is not the right person.
Lostprophet8
However, I still want to see it. I like the Occult movies.

Like Ultra Magnus said, it will be better to not think of it in the context of the comic.

I think Keifer Sutherland about six-seven years ago would have been perfect for Constantine.

laughlol.gif so true, so true. What a mess.

I don't know crap about Constantine, but I wouldn't be thinking "Keanu Reeves" if they were looking for an English badass/jerk. Clancy Brown with an accent maybe? biggrintf.gif

Constantine is suppose to be well in his 40's my be 50.....I dont remember but Keifer now would be perfect for the film.

Originally Nick Cage was supose to do this role and he was going to do it as a brit.

I had never heard of the comic before seeing this movie, and a couple nights ago they had a free pre-screening of the movie at the University of Houston. Just viewing it as a movie, I thought it was kinda cool. Not great, but far from dissapointing. I really liked the concept/story, and there were a few funny bits.

I've never read the comics, but I liked the movie. a lot.

Cage is now doing Ghost Rider (finally!)

He's been dying to do a comic book movie for ages...

I think he would have been a GREAT Constantine though...

grimlocklaugh.gif i had no plan on watching it

just saw it. Not great, but certainly not bad. It's worth the ten bucks, that's for sure.

I could understand why fans wouldn't like Keanu for the lead. He was too "young" for the "grumpy, screw you" kind of character. Although he's probably the same age, I think Jason Statham would have been great in the role.

just saw it too. i thought it was great. keanu was so-so but other than that it was great. i will never be able to look my cat in the eyes again. period.

SPOILERS A HO!

How do you think gabriel will get along with his/her stumps?

LOL optimuslaugh2.gif

According to Dogma, an angel that loses his/her wings is just a regular person. Is the person that played gabriel a guy or girl? It was hard to tell.

Any particularly good Hellblazer trades to look into. I really liked the movie, and if the comics are anything like the movie, (which I am acctually not expecting them to be) what would you suggest? I heard Son of Man was a good one.

Saw this one on Sunday. Afternoon showing, easily worth the five bucks.

Now for my review. Warning spoilers ahead.
First off I agree with most of you "not great but far from bad." Knowing nothing whatsoever about the comic serries the premise had me interested alone. Anything supernatural and thrilling usually does. For the most part Keanu did job as did the rest of the cast at making the absurd script believable and the tone was pretty cosistant throughout. Not to dark/scary and with it's fun bits as any comic movie should be. My only huge complaint overall was the pacing and the feel to many unrelated storys are happening when it should mesh as one. The wheels were turning so to speak but nothing seemed to go anywhere. Personally I felt like I was watching Dogma again only less funny. Spiritual agents of both good and evil are again at work bihind the scenes and the central characters acknowledge them acordingly and it all ends with a rogue angel (gabriel) trying to bring fourth the end of civilization. What was different was Keanu had the unexplained (unless I missed it somewhere) ability to travel to and from hell and a mystical dagger is involved.
BTW I'm pretty sure Angel Gabriel was a woman, and I thought Peter Stormare showing up as Satan at the end was the most unexpected/funn13 thing evah.

saw this movie last night...and personally i loved it! never read the comics but i knew it was way off. either way i thought it was really well done from beging to end...and for those of you who saw it...any of you stay till AFTER the credits were over? icon_wink.gif and if you havent seen it yet, take my advice and WAIT! there is an extra scene! dont fall to peer pressure and leave just because it seems like its over, its not
Lostprophet8
Crap in a hat.

I left early. You are almost forced out by the people cleaning the theatre. What did I miss?
