The story behind Might Gaine is basically this: Fossil fuels run out and trains are used much more often in the future city of Nouvelle Tokyo. Robots are also developed and this leads to robot crime, so millionaire Maito Senpuji invents Gaine, a sentient robot to fight for justice.
Might Kaiser is a team of vehicles commanded by Maito that turns into a robot which he pilots. Might Gunner is sentient on his own.

Hey all. I've been living in south korea for a few weeks now and have a few questions. I'm seeing brave toys everywhere for reasonably good prices. Just wondering are any of them any good? I've found Might Gaine, Great Da Garn, Fightbird, The lion/drill/stealth bomber guy, the police guy who looks like exgiser, sevenchanger. Anybody have any reccomendations, or know of any review websites?

Jan 15 2006, 05:31 AM
They're total bricks. Save for some arm movement 'n stuff.
The fun comes in the playability of those guys, they're BIG and they have a lot of 'modes' and they combine a lot. So if you like stuff such as the late japanese G1 TF's, Brave should be awesome.
I also'd like to state that I sorta envy you. Brave toys for grabs! Me also want, but me too cheap.

well thier all bricks as RhA posted the Train,Lion, drill, stelth bomber is GaoGaiGar my fav and is the newist one and possibly the most mossable. its just a shame his toy counterpart is a let down when you look at the cartoon
thiers MPB-01 Exkaizer its a modern take on an old design is far better articulated and stuff when compared to his old counter part idd think he would be the easyist offical brave toy to find
then thier Genesic GaoGaiGar they only made like 400 or so so if you find him for cheap idd say get it
not to familar with the other braves so

Galeon is a white-ish lion with a gold mane, and is rather blocky in this mode, but still a nice looking mechanical lion. Transformation into robot mode, which stands about the same height as the average TF gestalt
Gao Gai Gar's core robot is the same height as a G1 gestalt?! damn, them brave toys were huge!

Some of the Brave and GGG toys are REALLY great "Should have been Transformers".
Some of them are REALLY good G1 like toys, some are not so hot.
I personally recommend most of the various merge teams, and multi changers. My favorites are Thunder Barron, Land Bison, Sky Saber, Super Guardian, Build Tiger the Kaizers, and some others.
Some sets were kinda pointless.
The main problem I had with the Brave series, including Goa Gai Gar (or what ever) was that they were Anime series made for kids. It was kinda weird, and though most of the artwork was fantastic, it just failed ot keep my interest.
SO when collecting the toys (bootleg or real) made up my own TF ideas on what their characters should have been. Wrote some random scenes in a Fan Fic even on the TF versions of these characters.
Take King XKaizer for example. Paint it red (even bought one to custom paint, but never followed through completely, just made a custom spoiler and hood sticker) and its Power Master Rodimus Prime. Just change the lion head on the chest to be a big Autobot symbol.
Some of the Brave toys were repaints of Transformers even. Bricks they may be, but they were part of the Takara robot revolution, we got to see new combining techniques, and the style was carried over into a lot of the toys. Hell Sideswipes head is used as one of the Build Tiger robots heads.
Go look up Brave on the internet and look up the names of what I am talking about.
If it was not for silly little kids, and sometimes silly evil creatures to fight, Brave could have been the next TF series. They really needed Decepticons to fight. One of the episodes I remember, these evil creatures, actual G1 Dinobot retooled robots (never produced) made this big statue of Budda come to life to fight King X Kaizer...
A few too many trains used as well. And not a big fan of the vehicle combiner teams where the vehicles do not have a robot form of their own.

Personally, I think these toys rock! The hero bots are generally a good size and after gattai, they're even bigger! And about the previous comment that these are bricks; remember, the Yuusha toy series filled the gap after TFs died in Japan and before the onset of Beast Wars caught on in Japan. The Yuusha toys are kind of like the last TFs from Generation 1. Whatever it takes to sell toys, I guess.
You can still get these from South Korea and they're readily available via eBay. Some have mild changes. If you want the original Japanese ones, you'll need to dig deeper (and will also require a deeper wallet). The most notoriously difficult item to find (at least out of the hero bots) is Dragon Kaizer as it was never reissued and only released through Japan (I know I was damned happy when I FINALLY got mine!).
All-in-all, they're big, they're durable, and they're a whole mess of fun!
Good hunting!

If your going to get a brave toy. Get Might Gaine & Might Kaiser together they form Great Mightgaine. As the one you picked is a shoulder weapon for Great Mightgaine.
Takara has reissued the complete set:
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...466&mode=retailOr you could by Mightgunner at that price, then by the Sonokong reissues (same as the Takara version only Korean made). There also alot less money.

Well, that's probably the closest TF approximation. However, I was thinking the MPB line is simply more in line with the rest of Japan's higher-end robot toy offerings.
MPTF is something different, more akin to crossing Perfect Grade Gundam design goals with traditional TFs.
