Aquarion
ok, aside from that site not answering my question, now no one is going to see my thread because no body reads the non-tf mecha forum.

Yeah, this is a TRU Exclusive set for the Might Gaine reissue Takara released a few days ago. It's a special gold sword and some extra decals. The normal set includes a sword with a silver blade. The series is being subtitled and is pretty awesome in my humble opinion. But then again, I'm a rabid Brave fan. Check out http://pdsg.dragoneye.ca/ for the fansubs. Episodes 26 and 27 are the most recent, and they're a two-parter in case you feel like downloading. I'll start seeding for anyone here who wants them.

EDIT: The episodes I mentioned are the first appearance of the robot GoRyu, which is a recolor of Dai Atlas, and the main character's evil rival. I'd wager GoRyu would win in a fight against Dai Atlas. He's just so badass.
Vairn
exkaiser is being Sub too, and Gaogaigar is upto the last ep I think in its subbing run. both by different groups though.
Bumble Prime
I just bought three ko's from the Brave series that combine. He's awesome!! thumbsup1.gif. It's made of a sportscar with two wheels in the back, a drill-tank thing, and an airplane.Does anybody know what their called. wave.gif
Aquarion
i've seen pics of most of the toys but i know very little about what the animies were like.
X-Bob58
They would do total resets every year like Sentai, most of the robots were mechs, and if they were sentiant they would still have a human partner. The Badguys were re-used TF animation models in the earlier ones but noine of them ever got any toys.
KaedeEX
X-Bob is pretty close. The stories were generally like Sentai series, only without the sentai. In most of the series, a robot comes to Earth from space so it can fight evil, and it befriends a kid. Then some way or another, more robots join up in the good fight. All the robots are sentient, and the majority of them are combiners. The robots would usually get beaten when they first try to fight the enemy, but then they combine or unlock some other new power and win the fight. The main hero would almost always use an amazing finishing move to destroy the enemy. For example, when King Exkaiser performs Thunder Flash, he draws his sword, the lion on his chest breathes fire onto the sword, and then moving at amazing speed, King Exkaiser slashes his foe in two. The series all use a lot of stock footage, which is good since it's extremely well-produced and animated.
Hadlen Weltall
Same element in series like "GRAVION" which is Masami Obari's homage to the Brave era.

The earth is under attack from an unknown, unrecognizable alien force and an enigmatic force is what stands between them and earth's annihilation.
The formula it uses is the one 'core' robot "Grankaizer" and five seperate vehicle components: "G-Driller (two parts) G-Gunner, G-Attacker, G-Shadow. They combine with the Kaizer through a combination sequence (every episode has one) and become "Grand Gravion"
Blitz
GaoGaiGar is my fav

the story is your standerd brave story evil robot alians VS good alian robot only gaogaigar was not fully sentiant when not combined gaigar(just the lion) was more like a lion he could not talk and he was basicly a body guard for the kid (who was also an alian) then when he became gaogaigar hes just a mech controled by a cyborg called guy. also thiers the other robots who are fully sentiant and needed no pilots.

then their GaogaiGay final thats basicly sesion 2 and its the same mix just with more new stuff
Aquarion
so is it true that in the earlier Brave animes, the main hero robots were sentient but in the later series, they were human piloted?
KaedeEX
Nah, here's the breakdown--

Exkaiser - Sentient robot
Fighbird - Sentient android fuses with giant robot (like a Godmaster)
Da-Garn - Sentient robot
Might Gaine - Giant robot piloted by human and sentient robot
J-Decker - Sentient robot
Goldran - Sentient robot
Dagwon - Sentai fuse consciousness with giant robots
GaoGaiGar - Cyborg fuses consciousness with giant robot
GaoGaiGar FINAL - Human pilots giant robot

The brave series didn't really involve Gundam-style piloting at all. In GaoGaiGar for example, the main character Gai is inside GaoGaiGar, but he doesn't "pilot" it using joysticks or anything--it's really more like he just is GaoGaiGar instead of its pilot.

the mech in GaoGaiGar Final was called GauFighGar then after its trashed a few times GauGar returns and becomes the Genestic GaoGaiGar and gai is a hyper evolver human (basicly the next step in human evolution)

the gau machines could be piloted gundam style as it happens in the of the episodes

the was also the J-der who basicly fused with the pilot again no gundum style controls

here's the link to the pre-order. it looks like the three robots that form Great Goldran are going to be released in a set just like the three Might Gain robots were. i'm not surprised that Great Goldran is getting re-issued, considering Takara's love of gold-chromed plastic tounge1.gif

also, here's a link to pics of the original toy. thanks to fellow member EvaTType01 for archiving the pics thumbsup1.gif

Not too shabby.  But all that chrome makes me worried it'll be like my transmetal Rattrap and flake off...
Aquarion
it's been my experiance that Gold Chrome tends to flake the least.
Blitz
ewwww it looks like a KO of a lucky draw toy
Galaxy Maximus
Are any of these available on DVD, or in English translated Manga?
KaedeEX
You can find some bootleg HK DVD's on ebay, but the subtitles aren't very good. If you can find a set for under $30, it's a pretty good deal.
Blitz
i can post the link or PM you the link to the GaoGaiGar and GGG final fansubs

Where should I start?  I saw a subtitled version of Brave Express on Ebay for 50 bucks, is that a good place to start?

Rapid Run
doesn't the series start with brave exkaiser? I've only got the first 4 episodes fansubbed and I want to get the rest but I can't find them. icon_sad.gif
Blitz
yeah im sure brave exkaiser was the 1st
KaedeEX
You can start with any of the series. Might Gaine is as good a spot as any to start, since it's such an enjoyable show by itself.

That's not a bad idea.  I considered those until I stumbled across these a few
months back
http://www.cinemashops.com/browse_titles.p...ore=v011369lfce
It is a vcd set and you can't turn off the subtitles, you get English & Chinese
at the same time.  The sub issue doesn't bother me.  I was planning to buy the
$50 set you are referring to but I bought the vcd set, plus I picked up Machine
Robo for the same price.  I went the more bang for the buck route.
HowieH
Great Goldran's a fabulous gattai!  It's gold-plating is pretty durable and it packs a gazillion shooting missiles on all three robots!  You can still pick up the three separate components for decent prices.  The final form is enormous!
Aquarion
i'm thinking of Ordering the Great Might Gaine reissue set. what's the backstory behind the series? is Might Kaizer a sentai piloted gatti? is Might Gunner sentient?
