its just people being lazy. when i sent something to canada they make you fill out extra paper work on a baby sized card, it cost more, if the clerk wants to be an a**hole they ask want it is & might not let you insure it.
all-n-all sometimes it just seems like a hassle when you just want to run in & out of the post office.

I don't normally ship outside the US, especially to Canada, for the following reasons...

1) The price of shipping. It really costs a lot of $$ to ship to Canada, an example, Someone wanted to buy a comic off me recently, one comic. To ship it to canada would run $7.90 for international priority mail with proof of sending, or about $10 for international parcel post with insurance. Shipping justs costs too much to bother with. Plus some people want you to eat the shipping cost as well, saying that the shipping is too much.

2) Customs/postal staff stealing stuff. I had sent several packages to Canada and a few of them never arrived. So then I had to refund the money, and therefore I was out the merchandise And the money.

So that's why I only sell to those in the continental US.

SEE, those are valid reasons
ive had 4 guys tell me no, and there reason was they dont want to wait in line, and fill out the sticker

It's not expensive if you ship it the normal way. I got Energon Perceptor in the mail and it only cost the guy like 3 bucks and it arrived fast.

i shipped both small packages , and large package to Canada. Here is the problem that I had to deal with .

1) The U.S post office will not let us have a confrimed delviery on the package. So if it the 1st time I have deal with some one I want that on the package that way I do not get f?*ked in the deal. Cause you could say you never got the item , and want you part of the trade or money back. Which has matter, then that member turn around 2 weeks latter and put the items on ebay.

2) To they You have to fill out those card for The U.S. post office and they do not give you any room to write.

3) To get a confirmed delviery you have to take it to UPS. and they have you fill out 3 forms cause it going out of the country. Then that member got of piss off then Canada wanted dues for the toys coming into the country.

I live in Canada and have had my share of "I dont ship to Canada."

Its true that the Americans have to fill out some forms but I have also had to fill some extra forms to ship to the US. I dont think its that big of a deal that you spend an extra 2 mins to fill in some forms for someone who is willing to pay you money for things that you dont want anymore or need to sell.

Some people are saying that shipping is more expensive to Canada. Well it depends on the type of shipping you are sending the package in. I normally ask for the regular shipping. I dont need any special shipping to me. As long as I get the product and shipping isnt outrageous, I would be happy. Besides, why complain about shipping when usually the buyer pays for the shipping cost? If the buyer agrees to the shipping, I dont see how that should be an issue on the sellers part?

Here's an example. I was looking on an auction on ebay for some action figures. I asked 2 guys with identical auctions ( different locations) how much shipping would be to canada. 1 quoted 15$ and another quoted 25$. Talk about shipping price gouging!

A note that I have learned far too well, NEVER SEND any package to Canada via ground. ( for US sellers). This has caused me to have to dish out an additional 20-40$ for what they called Brokerage fee. I bought somethign that cost me 40$ US and when it got to my door, it cost me another 40$ cad before the guy would hand over the package!

I was pissed!

Actually, I believe that "brokerage fee" has to do with the postal service (UPS, or USPS) having to cover your GST on the product. So on your $40 package you'd have to pay say $2.80 and then they hit you with their "brokerage fee" $10 (I've paid anywhere from $5 to $15).

I believe you can head that off by somehow informing Canadian customs what you're expecting and from where and then prepaying the GST.

Or if you have shipped something with a low enough value (under $20?) then they won't bother with collecting the GST. If you're so inclined you can ask the seller to write a $10 value on the package regardless of its true value, some won't do it (understandably) because it's illegal to misrepresent a package like that. If they will then it limits your postal insurance to $10, but you get your package quicker and without having to pay GST/Brokerage.

Also, as to the original complaint, there are some dealers who I buy from who ship over a hundred packages a week. Any additional time/effort I request eats into an already jam-packed schedule, so unless it is utterly necessary I won't even ask.

You can avoid alot of this mess to by marking stuff as gift and not mechandise. I have had alot of stuff shipped from the states everything that comes marked gift has no fees. Everything that comes marked merchandise costs me a fortune. It all depends on how nice the seller is or if they even give a sh!$.

I will ship outside, but I charge a minimum of $8 extra on top of everything to cover any loss that I might incurred.

I have had problems sending things and receiving things from other countries... and it's just not wirth the hassle unless you're getting a good chunk of money from the deal and what not...

I always mark as a gift, and usually declare for $20 or less, especially if it's not a MISP item. I figure the risk is minimal to me, since most non-collectors wouldn't know the value of a loose TF if it were price tagged, and as long as the buyer knows that it is shipped at thier risk, I.E. no refunds, insurance is not my problem, etc... then I don't mind shipping to Canada at all. Like stated above, the buyer pays the shipping, so what do I care if you want to pay $9 to ship a $4 item? It's your money. As for the gouging issue, I try to keep my shipping charges fair. I usually add $1 to shipping, just to help offset the cost of tape, bubble wrap, and other shipping supplies, as well as my time and gas for the post office trip. Besides, I usually start my auctions at a low price anyway, so in case I only get one bid, I want to make sure I at least can cover the listing fees with the extra amount in the shipping charge, so I get SOME profit. My first couple of sales on Ebay, I actually lost money, because I underestimated the weight of the items, and a few I just guessed and put a flat rate of like $5 or whatever, and it ended up costing more. Live and learn, I guess.

Living in The Netherlands it can be annoying to hear "I only ship within the US".

But a lot of sellers do not mind shipping outside the US so that is good. rodimusgrinstatic.gif

I sold a few items to US sellers as well and I did not mind going to the postal office but some people do not have the time or something. A bit of a lame excuse to me.

And to be homest, I have had a package or 2 lost in the mail. (Give or take.) But seeing how many I did receive it is a small percentage. Large packages I always send insured.

Note to Dutch Fans: do NOT have anything big sent to you in December/Janaury. I was nailed this year in January and in 2003/2004 I was nailed in December/January (do not remember exactly when).

I know it is not fun not to receive any Transformers for 2 months but better than paying importfees. bumblebeetounge.gif (Small packages did get trough though.) Just letting you know.

Every time I sell something to someone in Canada, regardless of how I specify "US DOLLARS ONLY" they pay through paypal with Canadian, and I have to pay the high currency exchange rate.

I don't mind shipping to Canada it just takes longer, I've shipped stuff there for friends that live about an 3 hours north of me via airmail and it takes longer for them to get thier stuff than it does for a package to get from Ohio to england. And the whole us postal service not letting us have a confirmed delivery also stinks. And fedex and UPS will rip you off for shipping charges. So its just a matter of patients and faith on both the sender and the recievers part. I have yet to loose a package though (knock on wood).

Hey Purple your reissues and tripredacus are on thier way. clap.gif

hi guys
i ship all over the world and i know it sucks when you get charged those high value postal fees , but it is up to the buyer, personaly anything over $100 gets sent airmail parcel post and insured. and always clerifiy, no insurance is at there risk not yours, which really sucks, but on a personal note last year i shipped 600+ packages and none were lost, only one from a guy who said he insured and delivery confimation but could never provide any proof no even a recipte.

also if anybody sees an auction on e-bay but only says US only,pm me i have helped several people out, by winning auctions for them,
1 request your highest bid + s/h be sent by paypal
2 i place your highest bid
3 if you win i forward your items and any extra money
4 if u don't win , i just click refund your money on paypal
5 i don't make any money off this but remember you do end up paying dubble shipping, from person to me, from me to u
