Great Drill Tyrant Uncle Joe!
Heres a pic of the Mugenbine candy toy recolors without the stickers applied. Picture courtesy of the Prominence website.
I'm not sure I'm going to get this one. Its just a repaint they didn't bring anything new to the mix.

P.S. My Attack Condors and Keybot Gills Keiller just arrived. I'll post pics as soon as I start to play with them.
Sad news though, my brother is moving back to the states this fall!
HURRY UP AND REOPEN AMENBO! (I hate Hobby Link Japan! In case you didn't know!)
Transformers was fun! Its what a "fighting giant robot movie" should be! No plot (or juvenile at best), loud with wicked special effects! Screw the critics!

I think I've just changed my mind about the candy toys!
Here are some pics from Shirocchi's website with the stickers it does look cool!

I'll call my brother later tonight as its 12:31 am there right now!

Hm. I'm running a bit slow today(but that's a given since I've been a bit under the weather the last few weeks off and on.)

If we get the Kinoujin and Ginoujin set, we get both molds if we missed out on the Mugen Emperor vs Death Emperor and the Holy Beasts sets?

Also, no clue about the Buki-Borg series, Immy. I've been wondering about them for a while now. Glad to finally have a name to place with the line and a place to order them from.

Well, Attack Condor is cool! The paint jobs are getting better and more detailed. I, of course, got two of them so heres my first creation...
ZWEI CONDOR!

The background is 6 "Mechanical Chain Bases" linked together. They are by Kotobukiya! They make great hangar displays for all kinds of toys!
I hate to say it. but I think you can get these through HLJ! My brother sent me mine!

that zwei condor is bee-itchin' cheese.
Also aren't the heads of the candybine figures remolded?
Frosty 2.0
Ah yes, the Buki-Borg.
The ones in that pic, I've never seen before. They're obviously the second wave.
The one that turns into a broadsword(on the very left) was in the first series, I think.
Get them if you can. I don't know much about them, aside from them having three modes or so. Animal, Robot, and Weapon.
They're candy toys, though, so they shouldn't hurt the wallet too much.

Yeah the heads are remolded. I just saw another combined version on Shirocchi's website where he combined both sets. The color schemes compliment each other very well and the figure looks cool and different from the other sets. Based on that fact I probably will get them after all.
Rosalinda trading is having a 50% off sale on some of the larger Mugenbine sets. You can get Mugen Hercules for $15.57 US! I bought two more so I could build this guy!

The first series of candy toys are not as nice as the new ones ( They're on the real simple side) but still worth getting!
Here are some pictures of my newest creation with Attack Condor.

Darn. I wish I knew about the 50% off sale. How long is it going for?

and I'd recommend the candy kits, Overbite. I haven't done anything with mine yet, in terms of painting or putting on the decals, but they're still fun the play with. (That's partially one reason why I haven't got around to doing anything to them yet. Everytime I pick one up, I just start playing with it. haha.)

according to the Rosalinda site, 5 days (when I checked yesterday so it's probably 4 days). And all Mugenbine sets are on sale 50% off. That's why I was asking about the first candy set. I already have A,C,& G.

Yeah I agree with you Aoi. I have the 4 Legends Dragons and 4 Holy Beasts. Missed out on Death Emporer though... icon_sad.gif

Whoops. I forgot about the 4 Legends Dragons and 4 Holy Beasts. When I was talking about the Candy sets, I was talking about the first set.

Hopefully if my doctor's visit isn't too pricy tomorrow, I'll have enough to sneak a few Mugenbine sets my way.

Heres the first pic of Dark Frame Dragon. He looks like a combination of other Mugenbine parts recolored with a new head and arms! Am I wrong, or do the head and arms look like a semi-transparent plastic?

That's Dark Frame Dragon? Holy cow, he looks sweet!! Am guessing he's a repaint of the Build Tyranno and Speed Eagle, with a few extra new bits thrown in. But you bet your butt I'm gonna nab one of those beauts!!!
cheese
I will definitely get him, but this doesn't bode well for the Mugenbine line. Sure using recolors of past pieces to make "new" toys is cost effective, but it also says that there is a bankruptcy of new ideas coming out of the designers studio.
Heres the question then: DO YOU THINK THE MUGENBINE LINE HAS REACHED ITS END AS FAR AS ORIGINALITY GOES?
Lets hear what you have to say.
UncleJoe420
I guess there is probably a bit of a drought of ideas at the moment, hence why they are releasing the Dark Frame Dragon. To be honest, I don't mind the idea of repaint / redeco'ed sets, just so long as they don't do it too often. Perhaps we should have a bit of a brainstorming session for new ideas and forward them on to Bandai - worth a shot, if you ask me!! biggrintf.gif

I just hope that they will be able to think of some new ideas in future - heck, they have yet to make any motorised / remote control sets, or sets that include all 3 'Roid bots yet!! optimuslaugh2.gif
cheese
A cool combo from the Prominence website I thought I'd share with you guys. I think he looks like a updated version of Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet!
You know maybe Plex and Bandai don't have to put out new innovative pieces every time. Just leave the creative part to us "biners' and we'll make the new Mugenbines!
The key is not what parts you have, just how you use them! bumblebeetounge.gif
If I had a nickel for everytime you guys heard that! Just kidding! I'm sure you and you're significant others are very happy with your parts! 07laugh.gif
UncleJoe420
I agree Cheese - am sure we MugenHeads can come up with some nice combos! As for running out of ideas, there are plenty of animals and vehicles that Plex and Bandai can make; for example there is only one water-based mode in the whole Mugenbine collection - the animal mode for Quest Ninja! Why don't they have a huge set that forms either a whale or a manta ray? That would look pretty cool, if you ask me!! 07laugh.gif
Overbite
Mabye Dark Flame Dragon is supposed to be a baddy. That is what Bandai has done with repaints in the past, different color plus new parts. As for reaching the limit as far as originality goes, I don't think they have. I do agree with Uncle Joe, that some more sea creatures would be cool and there are many other cool land based animals they could do, like a kangaroo. Personally, I feel this year's sets are much better than the Mugen Engine series from last year. I think we really need to be more worried if the kiddies aren't buying them more so than if Bandai isn't being creative enough.
Taaron
I do like the idea of more water creatures...although, in a storyline manner, I'd feel bad for them. "Okay guys! We're in a landlocked location with vast vegetation, it'll be quicker to travel if we turned into our Animal modes! ....Er...sorry guy with water animal mode.....This is what?....the fifth land mission we've brought you on?" "The 10th! Seriously, guys. Screw you."

but with that said, I'll take an order of MugenLobster.

Anyhow, I'll bet two dancing Frenzys 07dance.gif 07dance.gif to one laughing Megatron 07evil.gif, that the Dark Flame Dragon is a baddy. (After all, I can't think of many hero characters with the word "Dark" in their name.)

Y'know, I've been wondering...considering the rollback on new Mugenbine figures, what does the Mugenbine section of the toyaisle in Japanese shops look like?

Aoi
cheese
I like the idea of Sea creatures being done. KeyBots are doing a sea motif with Gill Scaler and Big Whale!
I agree that DFD is a baddie. Did anyone else notice the Robot head under the Dragons chin? I'm interested in what that will look like!
You guys are right this series is alot better than the MugenEngine series, but I miss the Mugenroids. They added such challenging creative versatility to the toys. Its almost like Bandai intentionally "dumbed down" the toys for easier building. Which would make sense because it would give them a younger demographic to add to their sales.

Here are some bunnies waiting to run you down with fluffy cuteness!
UncleJoe420
Well, guess the water creature idea may not work 100% then! But there are a few that could go on both land and sea:

MugenCrab
MugenLobster
MugenSnail
MugenTurtle
MugenAmmonite (bit of a prehistoric one)

I got to admit, I too miss the Mugenroids and Turboroids, but the Buildroids are still ok as they are based around a big chunky cube with lots of connectors (which is what the other two basically fold up into). If only they would release a really huge set with a couple of roids in that can turn into a couple of large robots / animals, then combine with each other to form a massive vehicle / robot / animal - that would be pretty damn cool!! But I'm still gonna get a DFD hehehe

I agree that the easiest form the Mugenroids fold up into is a cube, but you need to think outside the box. bumblebeetounge.gif Take your mugenroids put them in the craziest poses you can, then start adding the "Bine" parts and joining them together. I guarantee you will come up with things you didn't think possible! Try that with your stagnant cube!

Well done, Aoi - i know I still got a few sets to go until I got the full lot. But at this point, I don't acutally mind if I miss them, as it's getting to the point where I've left it too late to nab them. Oh well, at least I got the rest to keep me happy!! optimuslaugh2.gif

Uncle Joe: Mugencrab Mk1 is awesome thumbsup1.gif. Think we can get some better pics/mini gallery of that bad boy? Also which sets are you missing? I thought you had them all.

Cheese, Nightstick is cool. 8) any chance of seeing some pics of him arresting someone ala COPS™ ?

Aoi, taking advantage of the Rosalinda Trading sale huh? How many more do you need to complete your set?

As for me, my order from Hobbylink Japan came yesterday. In it was Heavy Mammoth, Try Wolf and Attack Condor (kinda a funny name for a police officer since they are supposed to protect). So I've been pretty busy messing with those guys. I'll have to come up with some ideas for Cheese's request.
UncleJoe420
Hey Overbite - am missing Mugen Builder and Fang Tiger at the moment. As for clearer pix of MugenCrab, they will have to wait until Sunday before I can get a chance to do them. I used the Mugen Sector Double set to create it, but I still need to figure out some way of giving it legs.. biggrintf.gif
Taaron
Yup, Overbite! I'm certainly trying to take advantage of it. Only downside is..I just added up my totals a little while ago...and my math today isn't matching my math last night. Erk. Hopefully the bank'll still pay and just overdraft me. In this case, I won't mind as much as I did with Moon.

As for my set...hm. I think it'd still be easier to list the ones I have.

Candy sets: Air Leon, Carry Eagle, Great(? or is it Galaxy?) Rex.

Basic sets: Dig Kong, Galaxy Rex, Heat Triceria, Assault Leon, Fang Tiger, Energy Rhinoce, Wankirigunma, Teiryuoh, Yutenma, Uzumakidori, Quest Knight, Laser Ninja, Save Gunman, and Xenobine(but he's broke...so I'm thinking about getting a replacement.)

Mugen Juuki: Mugen Builder

and then what's coming in the mail that I listed earlier.

Also, UncleJoe, check out Rosalinda's. Even with shipping, you can't beat the price of Mugenbuilder.

I'll probably try getting VictoryLeon and Overligan when I get paid next Friday. I'm a bit disapointed Rosalinda ran out of Needle Stego.

On average, I'm going to say it takes about two to three weeks for me. As for tracking, I wish someone in the gov. would rephrase that, since it doesn't actually work like regular American city to American City tracking. When I've spoke to my local post office, they've made it seem like the tracking is just so you'll know when it'll leave customs.

Hope this helps!

Well folks, to help alleviate a bit of boredom due to dodgy weather, I thought I'd have a go at recreating a combo I saw on Prominence a while back. Basically, you've just recreated Dark Frame Dragon. (Without the special bine parts of course)
Looks great! What are its dimensions?

You mean I got to measure it? Cripes.. optimuslaugh2.gif Will try and jot some figures down over the weekend, but I can tell you he is a monster, at over 12-14 inches long (by my guess). Anyway, was gonna use this buy as a "good guy" against Dark Flame Dragon, as I assume DFD is a bad guy..

*chants* Do it, do it! Anyhow, Ryu is pretty cool. I really like how it's turned out.

Talked to Rosalinda last night, and they said they've shipped my first two orders out as one shipment...so I imagine I'll be seeing a huuuuge box. They're also shipping it differently than they do regularly, so I'll possibly getting it by next week. I'm just curious, since they shipped it out last night, will I be recieving it on a Thursday, or a Friday?

Oh well, Victory Leon and Overligan has also just been ordered, so that'll just leave Kaiser Condor and Junk Stag to go for what Rosalinda carries..but I'm not sure about getting Junk Stag, since I'm planning on working my way thru BBTS's stock next(which includes the Insect Combo). Any advice on that one?

If I can get the weight in stones instead of grams, that would be great!!! tounge1.gif biggrintf.gif
(just kidding, don't go to all of the trouble...)

I actually ordered the first candy set and a new Assault Leon because of a defective leg. The plastic near the hinge is cracked on the front right leg and I am afraid it will snap off.

Aoi, as for your question, one advantage of Junk stag is that the combiner head is different from than the yellow one on Jab Stag. Personally I prefer Junk Stag's head over that of Jab Stag's. However I prefer the color scheme of Jab stag though. I guess that is what makes deciding on getting this figure is so tough. I guess the main selling point would be you'd get an extra gestalt head if you pick up a Junky. As for the toy, it is a pretty good mold. The only articulation in bug mode are the big beetle mandibles which can be opened to wrap around unwitting prey. The vehicle looks cool as a big, alien bulldozer. All in all a pretty solid figure; a definate B+.
UncleJoe420
Right, here's the Tale of the Tape for Taikaku Ryu:

Length: 41.4cm (16.25 inches)
Height: 20cm (7.8 inches)
Width: 21cm (8.25 inches)
Weight: 420 grams (14.75 ounces)

Got my Machine Robo wedge book from HLJ today. It's a pretty cool book detailing the history of the Machine Robo line as well as showing some of the international varients (Gobots).
Uncle Joe, if you don't want to wait for Ryan at F2F HLJ still has some available for ¥3,300. Not many Mugenbine combos though but still an interesting "read" (well I mostly looked at the pics since I can't read Japanese).

Does anybody else have this book? Does anybody know if the enclosed DVD will work in the US on a computer?
UncleJoe420
Well, if the dvd included is a movie dvd, then you may be able to get it to work on your computer, assuming it will allow you to change regions. The USA is region 1, with Japan and Europe being in region 2 - hope that info helps!!

What's this MR Wedge book? Also, I spent most of last night doing a MRR/M checklist. (Took about...two hours, I guess. I still don't have the various Candy sets(except for the most recent) or the store exclusives listed yet.)

I think it is a movie DVD. I am aware of the DVD regions though. I really just wanted to know if somebody here in the states has tried it before I remove it from the cardboard insert. The insert is the same size as the book and is glued into the spine like the pages are. There is a small perforated flap cut out in the back to remove the cd.

It is a hobby book in Japanese with tons of pictures of the entire Machine Robo toyline from 1982-2005. It also has tons of concept drawings and interviews with the toy designers (again in Japanese). It is a pretty nifty book if you are interested in all Machine Robo figures but if you are looking for extensive Mugenbine combos, you will be disappointed. Hobby Link Japan has some in stock (since that is where I got mine; waited about 6-8 weeks for it to come back in stock so I don't know if they will be able to get more in in the future). They also have some pics of the page spreads too.
Personally I like the book. It is well done and interesting but you will probably get more from it if you are interested in the entire Machine Robo line instead of MRR & MRM.
