Show off time!

These came in the mail yesterday. When I first got into this series I looked over who was rare and who I liked the best, and three of my top four were Mugen Hercules, Launcher Saurus, and Mach Ptera. Someone off TFW sold me all three at the same time.

Pain to put Mugen Commander 3 together with no instructions and just a little picture though...

Nice! Congrats on getting Mach Ptera, OmegaOne. It's almost like that's the current holy grail in collecting Mugenbine figs.

Actually I found Mach Ptera easier to find than, for instance, Iron Beetle who I can't find anywhere. That's my current grail, except if it shows up in the next couple months I can't get it, saving up for a convention.

Nice. I like Arthur. I'm a smidge disapointed the core robot doesn't have elbows, but oh well.
Any reports on what his component forms are named?
Since we've got a Pharaoh, a King, what's next? Emper..Ah, wait. We got that one already too. We could do it again, I guess. Maybe we'll get a President next. Mugen....Washington? Nixon?

Edit: Wait, checking the pics from FanToFan, it's a Pirate! Argh, my mateys!

EDIT: Ok folks, have just been messing about with one of my Mugen Arthurs, and I am dead chuffed I got them!! A very ornate set, Arthur (who decided on this name?) is a pretty beefy 'bot; not as big built as Pharaoh, but still pretty large. so far I only have one teeny gripe, and that is the position of his knees when combined - they're halfway up his thighs!!

: Apart from that, he was well worth getting hold of! Will be applying the decals to him tomorrow, and will also take a bunch of pix too!

Here's a nifty combo using MugenArthur and another candy toy set whose name eludes me! Had to post this cause I'm sick of all this "What do you think about...( fill in the lame Marvel superhero show everyones got an opinion about before the damn thing airs!) posts that have taken over this thread! Oh by the way guys, Gurren Lagann has been out for over a year! Come out from under your rocks a little more often!!!!! Did I mention I was in a mood?

To be fair, Gurren Lagann was released this month to American DVD, and will be airing in a few days on American TV, so there's going to be alot of discussion about it by the people who missed it when it aired in Japan. Not that it's going to be a major point, since only the folks that visit the MRR topic will be seeing it.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting my candy set. I put in an order from BBTS for it along with Revoltech Jun and Toro, that shipped out today.

Jul 19 2008, 04:16 AM
You're gonna love the Jun and Toro Revoltech sets, they are hilarious! I look at them and just laugh! If you get a chance grab Suzuki as well, he may not look like much but he is a lot of fun! ( plus you can use his drill on your Gurren Lagann Revoltech.)
Taaron
Jul 19 2008, 11:06 AM
Yeah, I like Toro. I bought the first release with the EVA-01 Type F for my first set of Revoltech figures. Considering BBTS was only charging $12 for it, I decided to go ahead and get it for the new faces, and for the fact my original Toro's paint is rubbing off. Not really bothered by getting the re-release either, I'm planning on getting the Summer version of Yotsuba, despite having the original figure.
Anyhow, I was wondering do any of ya'll have the instructions to the Mugen Pharaoh sets scanned in?
I've been doing a bit of re-arranging of my room, and I've ended up hiding my instructions.

It's been two days, so I suppose it's safe to post again.
Anyhow, I have a warning to all my Mugen-friends! If you ever have a moment where you think "Maybe I should go to sleep", you should take it.
I decided to stay up and do some work towards my website, started fidgeting with Mugen Anubis and came up with this!
Mugen Anubis Puppy!

and oh boy. He isn't happy about it. Ya'll should see the glare he's giving me, even though I've put him back to his standard build.
Anyhow, my Mugenbine candy set gets here Wednesday!

Alright, had to show this one off. My friend in an act that put him on my "awesome people" list got Iron Beetle and Black Air Leon off Yahoo Auctions for my birthday, and he sent me Mugen Pharaoh and Mugen Arthor as well. (those I have to pay for later though) Unless I get a really nice deal on a Dark Flame Dragon, I've pretty much got all the Mugenbine that interest me, and they are now proudly displayed with my other plastic shape-changing robot collection.

Oh, Aoi.

That's a nifty shelf, OmegaOne! ...Wassat over there?! *steals the shelf, leaving the mugenbine and runs out" ...Doh!
Are those Gundam kits the 1/144 scale? Also are those the Rockman kits by Bandai?
Also got my Mugen Arthur today. He's....I dunno. I feel like he's a step-up for Mugenbine, but at the same time, somewhat of a step-down, too.
The articulation, with an exception of the smaller robot's elbows, on the figures is great; however, the plastic quality feels rather iffy...which leads me to my realization last night why the Candy sets and full Mugenbine figures are so different. The candy sets are missing the hexagonal 'stud' that snapped into everything. All the Candies have is pegs.
But even though that's my complaint for these sets, I'm still rather glad I got them. I've already combined it, so I haven't had much time to figure out which individual one I like the most. (Oh, and I'm ready to see what the next Candy set is. Hopefully they'll include candy again, in place of gum.)
ETA: Awesome! Thanks for the instruction scans, OmegaOne. Now I can figure out how to put Mugen Pharaoh's feet together again.

Hey guys, if ya'll missed out on the Mugen Emperor and Mugen...other guy. (I've just drawn a blank on his name tonight.) candy sets, if you have a Big Lots, you might have another chance. They've been scaled up and released as $10 sets. The paint aps are nothing to write home about, and I figure the original candy sets heights would only be that of the KO figure's legs.
I thought about it, but $20 for a set of two knock-offs feels a bit steep to me.

Aug 28 2008, 12:59 AM
Just a quick question to you guys; have noticed that a few of you have custom painted your candy toys sets, so i was wondering what paint you used? Am asking this, as I was thinking of painting a couple of the sets whose decals won't stay on - basically, just painting the odd small part. A shop in town has some Humbrol model paints (not sure if you get that brand outside of the UK), and am tempted to nab a few little tins to do the job.
Any info would be great!!

I have most of them figured out, with an exception of the one above the crab. Is it just a fish?

Btw, on the subject of the Holy Sea Beast sets - if anyone spots them on HobbyLink Japan, can you let us all now? Since seeing this set, I seriously want to get my mitts on one of these little blighters!!
If the Holy Sea Beast set is made up of 6 smaller sets, I wonder if Bandai / Plex would consider making a combo made up of 10 smaller sets? That would be pretty cool!!

Aoi, I found a couple of small mistakes on your site:
2004:
06
Xenobine, not "Zenobine"
2005:
should be
Razor Ninja, not Lazer
2006:
Left out Powerful Tyrano & Speed Eagle from list.
Other than that it looks pretty good. Are you going to put in the store exclusive sets as well?
Also Flywheels on tfw2005 has this
Mugenbine site. However hasn't been updated for a couple of years and I think he no longer collects them so I don't know how long it is going to stay around. Maybe you can use some info from that site for yours? Also let me know if you want pics for any of the setsyou are missing (unless you want this to also count as a record of your collection).
Taaron
Sep 6 2008, 03:02 PM
Ah, thanks for pointing those out. Most of my list was done from stuff on HLJ, and I didn't think to check it against the actual packaging, so when I copied it over, those mistakes went along.

Appreciate it!
Right now it's a record of my collection, I'm including the existence of store exclusive/repaints under the character entries, but that's only as a "Just in case" scenario I actually get my hands on 'em. If they have new names(like Assault Leon, for example, I'm treating them as a new character/entry.)
Though, if Bandai decides to start becoming more active with the Mugenbine line (or Bandai US decides to release 'em), I've been tinkering around with with the idea of creating an english fan-site. I still might, but that depends on once I finally get used to designing websites again.

(just getting an idea for my site has been a bit of a kick to the head.

)
Thanks for the link to Flywheel's site. I'll update what info I don't have, and toss him a link back.
Also, I tossed this up over on the Model Kits topic, while we were talking about paints. Here's a WiP shot of Mugen Anubis. (I've actually almost got the set finished, just need to snap some photos. I kind of went off-model on MA, but I like it.
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/AoiJuuni/Ki..._anubis-wip.jpg )
ETA: Hehehehe...I went in to make my changes, and some how I managed to title Xenobine's html correctly, when I created it.
ETA2: Also, what do ya'll think about all the Mugenbine figures released before 2007 supposedly going evil?
Overbite
Sep 6 2008, 07:42 PM
Great job w/ Anubis. I wish Bandai would have painted them instead of using stickers. Now I am conflicted because I've already stickered my Pharaoh set but it looks so great painted. :/
As for ETA2, it doesn't really bother me that all figs before 2007 turned evil. I guess the 2007 Buildroids need somebody to fight.
Taaron
Sep 6 2008, 10:31 PM
Thanks. I wish Bandai painted them too, though I wouldn't have much to do if they did.
Anyhow, I spent most of the evening working up the Mugenbine page some more(got up to 2005 linked up and paged. Not much on them, though. Photos and write-ups'll come after the initial paging.) , so I didn't get a chance to get the finished photos streamlined for internet consumption yet.

Hehheheheheheheheh.. Ah! nonononno, no straightjacket! It's hard to type with a straight jacket on!! >_<
Weeeeellll. What can I say? If my former sentence is any indication, I've gone mad over them.
Seriously, if they're anything like the protos, they look rather cool, and will be a welcome addition to my room. Especially so I can break up all the macho-ness. It's all Mecha, Transformers, and G.I. Joe in here.
The only female character toys I have in here is Animated Black Archania, Asuka in heat expansion suit, Ran and Kurumi (lil plushie things) from the Angel Tales DVD box, Revoltech Jun, Revoltech Yotsuba & Revoltech Danboard. Oh, and a Microman uh...whatwashername. Elsa?, somewhere. ETA: Oh, and two Digi-Charat stampers. (They were hiding on my TV cabinet.)
I wonder:
if this is a candy set, or a full-on toy since the Moe girls look quite well articulated. I also assume they don't combine. (Though, I'm sure we'll stumble over some photos of some folks trying. symmetrical docking'd.

)
is this a one-off spin-off of Mugenbine or the (semi-)natural(heh) evolution of the line as it went from Machine Robo Rescue, to Machine Robo Mugenbine to Mugenbine to Moebine?
will they come out this year, or in 2009?
Welp, that does it for my "I wonder" corner of my post.

Sep 12 2008, 02:56 PM
My speculation on the line is that it is not a spin off but official. It looks like the bine parts are compatible with older sets and also form a large robot. I am also betting that this series is geared more towards the adult collector instead of Japanese children (unless they are targeting the girl market, which I doubt).
Taaron
Sep 12 2008, 03:57 PM
Works for me. I kind of hope for future figures we'll get Rena from the original Machine Robo, and Alice, Rin, Sayuri & Marie from MRR. Or figures based off of them, at least.

(Kinda like how the BT* line had characters/figures based off previous characters.)
ChicagoEdd
Sep 12 2008, 06:42 PM
This "MoeBine" line doesn't suprise me, with the success of Busou Shinki and the Revoltech Fraulien toys this seems a logical step for Plex and Bandai. This by no means will be the next generation "Mugenbine" series but it will take the concept to an older audience. In other words the toys are growing up with the consumers! I am counting on this line to have an anime though! It has the perfect elements, girls & mecha! Lots of fan service right along with great robo-action! If they don't do it then they really are stupid!
UncleJoe420
Sep 13 2008, 01:41 AM
I got to admit, am not a big fan of girl figures (not 100% sure why), but these Moebine sets may just change that!! I reckon that an anime based off these would be cool - just so long as they include some of the other Mugenbine bits in it as well!! Also, perhaps the combined robot is also a female character, judging by the colours? Btw, is the animal in the top right hand send a frog? Kinda looks like it from the pic..
UJ
WraithVerge
Sep 13 2008, 03:40 AM
well, from the shot if it, it's some kind of bullfrog, so yeah.
Taaron
Sep 13 2008, 03:48 AM
It does look like a frog. What's the one beneath it? Some sort of monkey?
I love the idea of the previous sets featuring as villains for the series, especially since they're that way in the storyline, anyhow. Though, the characters should be the villains most of all, would probably have to be Mugen Pharaoh (There's just something about him that makes me think he's a better bad guy, than a good guy.), and Mugen Hercules.
I like the idea of an anime adaption, but I'm not sure if I'd really want there to be much fanservice. I don't have anything against it, but it seems to be a rather common-place element of recent anime, it's just kinda

Though, if it is to have fanservice, I'd just hope they don't do it like Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny, by including it then censoring it.
