the Revoltech Starscream and Rodimus, will NOT be released in the U.S. due to licensing problems.

I wish they wouldn't phrase things like that. It makes it seem like they won't make it over here period. They said the same about Convoy and Megatron. A little bit before Christmas, a local Hastings Entertainment had 'em.

Anyhow, I'm waiting for my Mugen Pharoh. Does anyone know of a site that lists Egyptian themed paint colors?

Yeah, you can still buy it, but it will be an import and subject to price increases, tariffs, duties,etc.... ( ha! I said Dutie!) It would have been nice to see a domestic release.
I got to play with the new Transformers Animated line and I LOVED them! The design is very artsy vinyl toyish, the transformations were right on solid! I had my doubts about this line, but for once Hasbro really delivered! Very original and fun! ( Bumblebee is my favorite, they really caught his personality!)
Bandai America has absolutely no plans to release Mugenbine in the States. Thats because it breaks several US toy safety rules! ( Cool! I'm playing with a dangerous toy! ) But, I did find a distributor that would import Bandai Japan items to my store. Now I have to convince my boss to get them! ( Bandai was funny, every time I mentioned something from japan they would refer people to the Power Rangers line! As If the PR line could even come close to S.O.C. or Kamen Rider Lines! I thought it was a HOOT! They did not like me! ) bumblebeetounge.gif
Well thats all the strength I have for now, I caught a really nasty Flu bug just before going to New York and I mean NASTY! I'll let you know about the 20 pounds of free crap I got while I was there!
See ya!

You didn't by chance ask which safety rules they break did you cheese? I gave a Save Gunman set to my friend's 4 year old son for Christmas and his dad bought him the other 1/2 of my Mugen Pharoah sets.
Taaron
That's a shame about the Safety Regulations. I wonder what they could be, too. Drop test...probably not. I've bumped and dropped Mr. Giraffe plenty of times. and usually when that happens, it goes behind my shelf. It's happened so frequently, I've actually forgotten his name and usually refer to him as a slew of obscenities. Hmmm....maybe that's the regulation. The hidden obscenity regulation!

Of course, since the fellow kept referring to Cheese to the Power Ranger line, I figure they guy didn't actually know that much...but either way, if they had to release the Mugenbine line as a part of Power Rangers, I'd be perfectly fine with it. (Anyhow, Bandai has slightly stolen the Mugenbine format for their little PR Mecha toys. Which reminds me, if I knew you were going Cheese, I'd have ya yell at someone for releasing those crap new designs instead of following last year's format with show-accurate (sorta) toys.)

Small parts was the biggest concern, the next was paint ( I thought he said paint, it could have been the type of ABS plastic used in their construction, or was that another toy?) , but the kid should be safe unless he plans on sucking on the toys like a pacifier for the next 15 years! You have to understand that the US has some of the more ridiculous laws concerning paint and lead. You have to be exposed to the product constantly for years before any thing happens. Thats why none of the Power Ranger toys are done in metal any more, the paint. The toy industry is taking it very seriously though. Trust me I got to listen to the toy safety presentation. Over and Over and...

Woo! Hyper Candy Pharaoh Sugar Des(s)ert King!

Just got my Mugen Pharaoh. Haven't built it (or ate) it all yet, I'm on Set #2...but they're all pretty cool. I'm gonna try tracking down a Desert-y looking scene tomorrow(maybe. I'm trying to save my Tax Refund for CCs.) and have a little diorama-type thing built up for 'im.

Which of the little Mugen Pharoh kits are ya'lls favorite?

Which of the little Mugen Pharoh kits are ya'lls favorite?

here's my favorite list; from most to least favorite for the Mugen Pharoah figures:

1) Anubis
2) Sobek
3) Sphinx
4) Ra
5) Scorpion

well, my set is on it's way from BBTS. it's gone from preorder to available.
but it $45 now instead of $40.
it should be in my hands by the end of this week, beginning of next.
Taaron
Hey guys. I'm getting a bit tired of Sphinx's onyx colored face. Which do ya'll think would be a good color to break it up? I'm either thinking gold or silver.

Any other recommendations?

Aoi, Metallic Blue and Silver. That way he'll match the blue in his headdress.
Heads up! Theres a new address for the Prominence site! http://gaichan.kerox.info/bbs/bbs-top.htmh
I hope he can control the pron problem he was having on the old page.
If you hurry you can catch a glimpse of what I really look like as I posted the first picture! I say hurry cause in my excitement I think I broke the rules so I think I'll be deleted, but what the hell!
not bad for a 43 (soon to be 44) year old man! My toys keep me young! Next year its the knife and a few tucks here and there! YES i am that vain!
Has anyone heard of anything new on the Mugenbine front? There was absolutely no news out of Wonderfest, so I was hoping someone has a clue where the line may be going. Anyone talk to Fan2Fan? Does he know?
Taaron
Appreciate it, Cheese. That would look pretty good.

Thanks for the new Prominence link too. I was visiting the old site and was like "...Race car? Did they get spammed again?" Seems like alot of the sites that was on ToyUp has closed up shop. Pinky St., SD Gundam, the TF Img Board also closed up their Kitbash section, as well.

I was counting on you being the one with all of the Mugenbine info cheese. Now I am worried...
biggrintf.gif

I can send a message to Ryan to see if he knows any info but what I've heard is that there are supposed to be some sets that continued the roiders for the first half of 2008 then they would release the next wave later in the year. There was mention of Silver Roider and Gold Roider. Since Silver Roider is the name of Mugen Pharoah's roider, I am speculating that there will either be a repaint of MugenPharoah or an entirely new candy figure (hope it is the latter) that will be released with the gold roider. As for the next wave, I've heard that Mugenbine isn't very popular (the candy toys apparently are though)in Japan so they might cancel the line. I really don't know. I was hoping there would have been more info at Wonderfest.

Plus thanks for the new prominence link. Any info on amenbo.com since were are on the subject of mugenbine websites? Is he evar coming back?

UJ if you are planning to video who I think you are going to video it should be awesome.

Aoi, I'd go with either silver or gold on the inside portion of the face (nose, lips) and keep the outer mask black.
UncleJoe420
Well, think we all hope that Mugenbine isn't over and done with just yet.. Would definitely suck if it was. icon_sad.gif Hopefully, Ryan may know a bit more about it - was gonna ask if anyone's tried emailing Bandai directly?

Overbite - have already filmed the vids and cobbled them together, with some nice intro music pertaining to the combo I built - will hopefully at least get a laugh!! optimuslaugh2.gif
Taaron
Thanks, Overbite. I think I actually have a decent idea that might be able to combine both your's and Cheese's ideas. thumbsup1.gif

Anyhow, I think the reason why Mugenbine didn't catch on like it should of: it didn't have much storyline support. There wasn't a show, or game or anything to support "These toys are cool! buy them!" outside of commercials and the toys itself.
Plus, this might just be shooting off my mouth here, but I honestly think Go-onger is another reason why're not getting many Mugenbine toys this year. The Beast/Vehicle theme, to me, feels like a simplified version of Mugenbine. I watched the first episode the other night and while watching it, I'd think. "Man..this show would of been soo much cooler if they ditched the Cars ripoff and dropped Mugenbine in there."

Aoi

We've painted "doom and gloom" scenarios for the line before, so I wouldn't jump on the canceled band wagon just yet. One. It doesn't make sense for Bandai to maintain a site solely dedicated to a line that is or is going to be canceled. Bandai is way to fiscally minded to let such money fly out the window. Two. It may have lost some momentum, but I don't think its doing so terrible in Japan. Not when new fan sites keep popping up.
I don't think the line will be canceled but we are probably going to see fewer releases.
You guys did tap on a huge problem with the line, no anime or game to back it up. I also feel the line has lost some of its "identity" by upgrading the line too drastically. Getting rid of the Mugenroids completely was a big mistake, ( Which was done for a fiscal reason as they were becoming too pricey to produce. Theres alot that goes into those things! )they made the line unique from just another building toy. The upgrades should have coexisted with the roids to maintain continuity in the series. Like the "Engine series" did. ( though admittedly not very successfully. ) An anime, in which the story supported the changes in the line would have helped with the transitions and maintained interest no matter which direction the line went.
I guess we'll just have to play the "wait and see" game for now. I'm hoping for a " Return of the Mugenroid" series and its not too late for an anime to be produced.
The Go-Onger toy line is pretty expansive, but Bandai has supported multiple large lines before. I don't think this is a real factor here.

I have no idea whats going on at Amenbo, I am counting them out of the game as a business can't afford to be shutdown over a year and hope to survive, or make a comeback.
UncleJoe420
Good point, Cheese - hopefully during this rather quiet period, they may release a few repaints, like they did with AirLeon, Galaxy Rex and Evo Rhinoce. Might see if Bandai have an email address - perhaps they may be open to suggestions? Worth a shot..

Repaints would be nice. Especially of the ones that were tougher to find. Uhm....damn. Can't open my Mugenbine list...so the only one I can think of that'd really need to get a repaint would be Mach Ptera.

Thanks for the painted links, Cheese! They're pretty snazzy...and I wish they'd reissue that Pyramid Sentai Mecha. That's the perfect compliment to these toys.

Heya folks - just thought I'd keep you posted about my latest vid projects. Have tried uploading my latest combo vid to YouTube, but it is taking forever to do so!! Did try earlier, but it took over half an hour, and with no idea how it was progressing I just had to cancel it. Welcome to the same boat! My, we have many boats. Shall we go fishing, or invade a country? ....I'm sure we can put some toys in the empty boats, tie them together and look like an invading army.

Hate to bump, but has anyone heard of this? Animaxis is carrying One Piece candy figures. Well, One Piece figures now; according to this message:

"Originally each figure came with a small piece of candy, but because of strict anti-bioterror international shipping restrictions we have had to remove this candy."

Is this for-real or does Animaxis just want the sweet sugar tablet-y goodness?

(I'm baffled cause of the Mugenbine toys still coming with their candy.)

Just finished watching 'em, UJ! thumbsup1.gif Mugen Godzilla Came out pretty good. Well, except when he fell apart. What caused that?

I was thinking, instead of showing us the pieces you used as you build it, why not blend some of your stop motion skills into the next one? Film the pieces used, then edit them into a box into the corner, with the piece spinning, or animating which peg needs to be popped out, then adding it to the build? Just an idea to play around with. smiletf.gif

Thanks for the comments Aoi; it fell over as I tried adjusting the placing of the feet, and it was overbalanced.. oops!! grimlocklaugh.gif

As for using my stop-motion for another build vid, that ain't a bad idea - i could do it in animation form, with a commentary over the top. Might have to give that a try sometime!!

UncleJoe,
Cool video, though it came across a little dark, at least on my computer. Maybe a white background would help with that. Also, your close-ups are a little too close, its hard to see what you are doing in relation to the whole figure. I love the idea of it being done in stop motion. It will be a lot of work, but the effect would be cool! Looking forward to your next project!

It was dark? Did anyone else experience this? Just thought I'd check, as I thought it came out ok. Will have to experiment with lighting on my next few vids to see if that makes things better; was using natural light up until now, which may explain the darkness issues.

I guess a stop-motion vid might be better; ok, would not really be a proper stop-motion animation - more of a set of pictorial instructions with a running commentary. Would this sort of format be better than the way I'm currently doing things?
