I'm not so much interested in the original MR stuff, but I'm a huge fan of concept drawings. thumbsup1.gif

In terms of shpping price, would it better to order it with an item, or on it's own?

Got my Machine Robo wedge book from HLJ today. It's a pretty cool book detailing the history of the Machine Robo line as well as showing some of the international varients (Gobots).
Uncle Joe, if you don't want to wait for Ryan at F2F HLJ still has some available for ¥3,300. Not many Mugenbine combos though but still an interesting "read" (well I mostly looked at the pics since I can't read Japanese).

Does anybody else have this book? Does anybody know if the enclosed DVD will work in the US on a computer?

I have the book also and I think its great! I love some of the concept drawings! The DVD is region 2 and contains all the machine robo commercials past to present! Its a pretty cool collection. The Mugenbine commercials are fun! I have a region free DVD player so its no problem for me to play back. Most computers will allow you to change the region code on their DVD player, but you can only do it so many times before the change becomes permanent. The OS should let you know how many times are remaining.

I was hoping they would ship it with ML Soundwave because they just got these books in last week I think. It was shipped out last Tuesday. I was charged ¥2040 for shipping; approx $18.
Yeah, it probably would be better to order something to go with it but if you decide to buy only the book it is packed well.

edit— I just looked at the book again, there are 8 pages with color sketches and 19 b & w pages (out of 110 total pages) with varying concept drawings in the designer interview section in the back of the book.

Thanks Cheese. I have to double check what my Mac allows. I really need to get a region free DVD player...
Oh and my favorite concept drawing is that huge combiner on page 55. If Bandai had released that, I probably would have picked up the MRR line months ago.

Once I get my copy, I will try and scan some pix in to post on here!!

I think I'll try getting the book in two paychecks...but I'm on my way to completing another set. Found an Air Leon on Ebay for $9.00 w/shipping!

Are there any other auction sites that might carry Mugenbine with a "Buy it now" option?

Well, i ordered the book with my Attack Condor from Ryan (which will hopefully ship soon); am quite looking forward to seeing what this book is like!

optimuslaugh2.gif

Needed that.

Just stored away ten of my Mugenbine sets to clear up some space for the new guys. (which leaves Great Rex, Heat Triceria, Fang Tiger Assault Leon, Energy Rhino, Candy Leon, Candy Eagle, Candy Rex out on the desk.)

Took apart the Great Rex/Heat Tricera combo, and found out one of Heat Tricera's legs were cracked pretty major. (The peg holder in his foot, won't hold onto pegs anymore.)

Should I attempt glue, or just order another one along with a Xenobine?

Aoi
UncleJoe420
I would say order another one, that way you have a load of spare Bine parts for any future combos!! I had a similar prob with my original Wanrikiguma, so I ordered another complete set - and am pretty pleased I did!! Can't get enough of these little buggers!! optimuslaugh2.gif

PS just spotted more pix of the Chase Dober and Dark Flame Dragon in this site:

Interesting Link

The pix should be at least halfway down the page!! Enjoy!!

A pic would help but if I understand the problem get a small piece of tissue and wrap it around the peg. The extra bulk around the peg should hold it in place, then tear off the extra tissue that sticks out. This also works well for ball joints on TF figures. I don't like to use glue because they melt the plastic and it might weaken the plastic in the future.

I read somewhere (don't remember which site) but apparently some figures from the same time Heat Tricera (G-N; Assault Leon, Energy Rhinos, Great Rex, JUUKI GATTAI Mugen Police & Fire) was released with defective plastic. I believe the author who wrote the article specifically mentioned problems with Juuki Gattai Mugenfire but my Juuki Gattai Mugenfire is fine with no problems. I think if you don't have any problems with those figures now, are careful with them and look the parts over while building to look for cracks/stress marks you will be fine. Out of all of those figures, I have the leg problem with Assault Leon and a peg that fell off the Mugenroid of Junk Stagg and Mach Petra (fortunately they were pegs that weren't used in any of the official molds).

Cool find Uncle Joe thumbsup1.gif

Really looking forward to Chase Dober. He looks awesome
Taaron
Nice site, UJ! I'm certainly bookmark it for later reading in the future.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna replace Xenobine and Heat Tricera, been thinking about giving the broken ones to a friend a few streets over and tell him if y'can fix 'em, they're yours. If y'can't...they're still yours. 07dance.gif

I'm not sure if a pic would help, Overbite; it's a small crack along the bottom of the "(" shaped piece that holds the peg, going from there to to the bottom of the foot.

Aoi
Overbite
yeah sounds like you need a replacement one...
Taaron
Bump bump. Here's some candy toy fun! (I'm still waiting for my biiiig shipment to come in.) Great Cannon. I really need to clear off some space and paint these guys up.

Anywho, I figure with a bit of playing around he could also maybe a microscope(might be left to the regular Great/Galaxy Rex, though.) or one of those Rocket lift-off stations.

Also, a bit of curiosity..how do ya'll picture the Mugenbine characters being 'piloted'? I kind of see the Mugenroid..and the other type. (damn. Having a blanked out moment..Turboroid?) as their own robot, and the Bine parts being able to combine into their own thing and being piloted to support. The only exception to the piloted characters I think would be the latter Candy sets, Three Mugen Musketeers and the MugenRoiders.

Addition: Did a bit of playing around with them and took photos! Galaxy Microscope and Great Launch Pad. ...Maybe I should of built them the other way around?

Aoi
UncleJoe420
Hey all!!

Was just wondering if anyone's seen any more pix of the Dark Flame Dragon? Have only found pix on that site I posted a link to, but apart from that I can't find diddly squat!!

BTW, HLJ has got the Chase Dober in, as I ordered myself one yesterday!! biggrintf.gif
Overbite
that launch pad is pretty cool Aoi. Well done. The microscope is cool too. I'm still waiting for my Rosalinda shipment to come in so I'll have the first candy set to fiddle with.

Uncle Joe, I haven't seen any more pix of Dark Flame Dragon. Chase Dober is out! I may wait to see if Amenbo gets back on line, see if they sell Mugenbines again and order Dark Flame Dragon & Chase Dober. Let us know what you think of him as I might buy it early. Also. did you get your Attack Condor yet?
cheese
Just a few pics from Variable and HLJ of Chase Dober. I really think Bandai and Plex are getting lazy in the "Invent some new pieces" department! All these repainted parts are really becoming a drag and I am seriously losing interest in collecting this series. Now Keybots, as "kiddy" like as they are, are doing some great things by bringing in some bad guys! Mugenbine really needs a definitive bad guy line to boost interest in the toys. I'm not just talking about repaints like the MRR line. I think it would be great if the bad guys had a gimmick all their own. (Like the MugenEngine only better) Something that sets them apart from the good guys!
Thoughts, Ideas, recipes?
P.S. I do like the "Official" combo pic of Chase Dober and Attack Condor from HLJ's site. Best official combo I've seen!

Cheese - my Attack Condor is actually now en-route from Japan (finally), and I have also ordered the Chase Dober from HLJ as well, so fingers crossed they should arrive at the beginning of next week (early August).

As for the lack of new parts in Mugenbine, I got to admit that I do agree that it's a shame they can't seem to come up with anything new. However, this will not stop me collecting them and I hope that Bandai and Plex do come up with some new parts by the end of the year!!
Overbite
At first I agreed with you guys that it seems that this year's Mugenbine toys seems to have too few new parts. But if you take away the "core robot" and its 8 parts there are enough new pieces that were designed. If these parts were combined with a standard Mugenroid/Turboroid it would seem like a regular letter release. I think that getting 7 identical parts (with a canopy that is different) makes it seem like we are getting too many duplicate parts (with the exception of the wheels, we are getting too many of those but I am not complaining; the wheels are pretty clever). Of course Build Mammoth didn't help this perception at all since it is basically a Juuki Gattai Mugenbuilder without the box, in a different color, and has the new core robot instead of the Turboroid. And finally the number of figures coming out is pretty small compared to previous years. We are already past the halfway mark and only six sets have been released; one very recently. Plus the next set is a repaint with some new parts. With the low number of figures being released, it makes me wonder if the Mugenbine toyline is winding down. Maybe PLEX/Bandai are focusing their energies on Mugenbine's successor.

Great find Cheese! thumbsup1.gif

Well, even though the latest sets do come with a lot of similar parts, i still think Mugenbine is a pretty cool line of toys. The leg parts with the rotatable segment are pretty handy!! But I do hope that Mugenbine is not gonna come to an end any time soon, unless as Overbite said, Bandai and Plex are working on a successor (which is backwards compatible).

UncleJoe420
Sorry for the double post, but just thought you folks would like to know that I finally got my Attack Condor and Machine Robo Wedge book today!!
Overbite
and how do you like them?
UncleJoe420
The Attack Condor is pretty cool. Granted, not got as many parts as other sets from this particular range, but still highly versatile. Will go great with the Chase Dober, once that gets here!

As for the MR Wedge book, that is a pretty good buy! Ok, I can't read most of it, but there are plenty enough pictures, chronicalling the entire span of the MR line, right up until the Mugen Musketeers. Speaking of which, does anyone else have the CGI Mugen Musketeers animation? That appears on the DVD that comes with the book, along with a couple of other CGi sequences, including ones for the Air Leon and Juuki Gattai Mugen Police!! Unfortunately, I can't rip these bitss from the DVD, as my copy of DVDx doesn't seem to like the disc. Oh bugger icon_sad.gif
Overbite
sorry, I haven't tried the disc yet on my computer. I usually don't like taking the discs out of books/magazines for some reason. I might have to make an exception though...
Btw glad you like Attack condor. I really like him too but I wish they put a peg hole so you could attach the cockpit (bird head) to the front in heli mode; as well as all of the bike parts on heli mode.
Taaron
redface2tf.gif I just found out why the tracking numbers we got from Rosalinda never worked. Instead of going to the US Post Office site..we needed to go to the Singapore Post office site; http://www.singpost.com/ then go to I want to track... pull down and select "Track my speedpost".

Anyways, I don't think I'll be getting Airleon. The guy I bought it from relisted (or listed another item with the same picture) Airleon. I emailed him a few days ago to clarify.

I'd try finding it on YouTube or bittorrent. I know TvNihon used to host the video, but their site is down. My DVD software doesn't like the disc either.
On another note, Has anyone else looked at the Mugenbine homepage and gone, "What the F***?", when they post fan pictures on the site? I really don't get some of the things they post!

Chase Dober is really nice! Alot of pieces, so get those scissors or box cutters ready to slice through all the little plastic bags! Combinations are nice even without adding other toys to it! The combo with Attack Condor is nice , but I had to "tweek" it just a little! Haven't made a double combo with its twin yet, hopefully I'll get time, as I'm pretty busy getting our store ready for our annual street fair, Market Days! Its one of the biggest street fairs in Chicago! Some say it rivals the Taste of Chicago for attendance! We'll see! ( I think its just a drunk and drug fest for the local gay-boys, but thats my opinion!)
Enough about that crap! How about some pictures of ATTACK DOBER!
