Has anyone else had ALL THE SNOW IN THE WORLD dumped on them today? In Lansing, Michigan, we got 12 inches last night, and it's not letting up yet. I was hoping for a tame winter, like the ones we had the last 2 years, but alas, it's not to be so!
And shoveling the driveway was a Starscream.

You don't know what freezin' is until you spend 4 days with below zero temps. If you experienced that, let me know.
Minnesota just got about 6 inches of snow last night. The first big snowfall of the year and for this winter season. We should have about 2ft on the ground right now but we only have.............6 inches!
If you hate shoveling, quit complaining and go buy a snowblower.

Oh, we've got a snowblower, but in addition to getting 12 inches, we've also had strong winds, and as a result 3 foot snow banks abound. Also, there was one of these said snow banks in my drive way. The poor little snowblower couldn't keep up with the work load, hence with the shoveling. Which was a Starscream.

Ah, I see. We got winds last night and have some pretty big drifts here as well.

Yeah we got about 10-12" here in the Chicago area. We were supposed to get a few more inches but I guess it mostly drifted off over the lake. Either way, it wasn't much fun clearing the snow from around the car, especially after the plow came through!
Lucky enough for me it was all powder so it was pretty easy to shovel. If things go the way they have been over the last few years it'll probably all melt within the next week or two.

It's been unseasonably chilly around here, going down to 35 at night, and my furnace went kaput yesterday.
Not that it compares with these stories, I just want attention.

Yea we only got about 8 inches or so of snow I think. Maybe a foot. It was windy so it drifted around alot. This is nothing though, I am used to much more. My maximum comfort level is about 3 feet, but I don't have my old car that could drive through that anymore....
Hell I remember the one year we got 7 feet of snow in 24 hours. Now that rocked. It was on Christmas Eve too.

Minus 25 celsius here today. Add wind chill onto that and it becomes about minus 35.
In other words, frikkin cold.

I'm from Southern California, so it's 3:47pm p.s.t. and 75 degrees!!
I do know what cold weather feels like (mainly rain) because I lived
in the state of Washington for 8 years, and this included numerous
trips to Vancouver B.C. to visit family.
Btw Wildling, when does the temp. in your area get better?

Pfft, "boo hoo, i had to shovel one mound of snow, boo hoo." Be a real man and shovel 22 inches of snow without the aid of a snowblower. Cause thats what we got up in the mountains here in mass.

Here in Southeast Michigan the roads were pretty horrible, but I'd hardly call it "The Blizzard Of 2005!" as local news stations are calling it. Pathetic. I can already hear every other state laughing at us and calling us a bunch of sissies.
The winter storm of 1999 was much, much worse.

Hopefully soon.
Actually, today is upposed to get into the minus 15 range. But I would expect coldness until at least March.
Although, I'm not too sure about that since I've only lived here a year. I'm used to teh dampness of Vancouver, not teh cold, snowyness of Barrie.
