Yeah I heard about that, if you twist the system just the right way the UMD will fly out...kinda wrong, but when I get mine I'll be sure not to twist the thing at all.

Actualy that is not the only problem that thing has that is UMD or disk related.

It seems that you have to make sure that the thing is on a "flat level plane" like the playstation 2. While the PS2 enjoys showing off it's unit sitting side ways, that is the verything that breaks the lens in the media reader. Most all game stores report that out of all of the game units PS2 has the highest return for damage.

But if you think about it who would ever put their dvd/cd player on it's side like that?

Music cd players fair ok in this but these are not music cd's these are games and dvds.

As far as the PSP these things play fragiel games and movies.

After being sick of messing around with the whole disk thing for video games I love going back to cartrages for my games, I love my DS.

that problem was mentoned in the latest game informer haha... man that sucks. looks like we won't be seeing this in the US for a while

I have a PSP my wife got me for xmas, and i dont have any problems with it! but there are several reports that some have dead pixels and the eject problem. shame realy, seems like sony tried to push it out to fase!

My chums with PSPS report no probs, but my chum who works in the industry also told me that:

1/ The PSPs battery life is vey short if u play games on the highest video mode (ie: the way the games look in all the ads/reviews).

2/ The disks DO eject.

anyway, all the japanese peeps are going mad for them..but Ive also heard conflicting rumours that the PSP is/is not region encoded for its games/dvds. I also heard that if western ones are, then the japanese version isnt.

Ill wait a few months and wait for some nice Chinese person to invent all manner of naughty things to violate and make the PSP do all manner of naughty things, like play emulated/copied games, etc.

Sony came out the other day with the U.S. release. It goes on sale at the end of March for $250. Us yanks have to buy the "value pack." There is no standalone system package. As for the region coding, the games are not region coded, but the UMD movies will be.

Really,the PSP will meet the same fate as the what-was-that-sega-thing-that-looked-like-a-black-GBA-called did. It had better graphics, but somehow lost out to the GBC.

Get Wipeout Pure, or Ridge Racer for the PSP. NFS:U Rivals sucks ass graphically and game play wise as well.

i got wipe out and ridge racer i seen Midnight club but it looked a bit to prone to lagging for me

Got one last week, and so far have had no problems with it at all.  Of course, I'm also actually careful with my electronic gear.  I've also got a DS (don't do console gaming any more - I need portable), and love it too.  Both are great, but they are for different markets.  At least I know I can buy PSP, DS, and Gameboy Advance games and be able to play them all.

I got Wipe Out Pure with 244 Golds I think? I can't remember haven't played in a while. But I got 95% Golds and all Downloads, US version. Europe version has like 350 Golds to get! WOP has to be one of the best games out there for the PSP!

It was a pic of a japanise PSP spitting out a UMD when ever you bowed it out.....as a matter of fact by the way mine has never done that and I'ev had to sence they put it out.

Ahh, thanks for that info. I talked on gamefaqs.com before I was banned for getting in a religous discussion about who knows what, but people where talking about it over on the PSP board.

Ah-Fricken-Greed!! I've had my PSP for 2 weeks and have yet to attemp to possibly break my $262.50 system.

The things a fricking weapon!  I shoot my friends with UMDs, and one point blank. Leaves a welt.
