Full Version: God Hates Vegans....

"It's true. I was recently arguing with some vegans about how there's nothing wrong with eating meat. They told me that God wouldn't want me killing his other creations, and that being vegan was the Christian thing to do. My brother brought something wonderful to my attention recently though, if I might quote.

"Then a voice told him 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'

'Surely not, Lord!' Peter replied. 'I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.'

The voice spoke to him again 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.'"

Acts 10:13-15

So you see, God encourages, nay, TELLS us to kill something and eat it. That's why God rules."

Saw that on a WoW message board (even tho i don't play the game...go figure.)

I've never heard of a vegan using a reference to god saying not to kill animals...

personally, I'm a vegetarian, but that doesn't mean I don't still love the taste of meat. I just know what nasty stuff gets done to those animals before they get served up, so I can't stomach eating it anymore.

On a serious note, that verse is symbolic. You really have to check on the context of the verse before interpreting it.

Some Gentiles were interested in becoming Christians, but during that time Peter was not sure what to do since in Jewish custom, Gentile are "unclean". So in response, God talks to Pete in a dream, which is quoted above. It just basically says that it's okay for Peter to allow Gentiles to become Christians since God says so. It's a strictly symbolic dream and a little silly to take literally.

I personally think it's okay to be vegan if the reasons are practical, and not some weird New Age crap excuse.

Okay... cmdrjanjalani is right actually. It was a dream, and the point was that it was okay for the (then) all-Jewish church to accept non-Jews even though they weren't part of "Israel". You know that whole "kosher" thing... God was basically telling Peter to chomp down on a big ol' ham sandwich. Metaphorically speaking...

And to give a little more information about this:

Adam and Eve were vegetarians. God gave them all the veggies and fruits and what-not to eat. (Back before everything got all screwed up.) It wasn't until after the flood that God told Noah that it would be okay to eat animals too. So you could even say that God intended us to be vegetarians, if you want to justify your diet that way.

That was really a stupid site, I mean if they want to claim that homosexuality is a sin then that’s one thing, but to say that God hates “fags is just sad, and only shows that they have lost touch of the gospel which they claim to love and understand. The fact is, just about everyone on a daily bases commits a sin, so who are we to judge a person for what we perceive to be a sin that we believe they are committing.

Anyone preaching hate doesn’t understand the bible, and needs to stop and take look within.

well, that guy,is notorious for crap like that. And the sad thing is, hes 100% serious too.

and by that, I mean the link, 2 posts up. Not OPP.
