if you're in the Chicago area, tune in Monday mornings, 2-6 am. It's on Pure Rock FM 89.1 WONC. Or you can listen
online

I'm a DJ too, but not on the radio. I don't think I would cut it on the radio. I would be probably sued like no tomorrow.

i used to spin for hs dances/parties... those days are outnumbered now n my mixing days are over. now i just go to clubs for free n let the other dj's mix their hearts out lol... thats cool that we have other dj's on TFans! if im ever in the windy city i know i have something different to listen to!

I generally spin Metal and only on Thursdays, but if I get to do a Friday I spin dance music.
I talked to a couple of DJs that sometimes come in from a radio station to spin at the club and they don't mix very well. The one guy says that they don't do that on the radio and usually talk or have commercials in between songs.
Big Grim
Jan 10 2005, 03:09 PM
yeah, I'm just a radio dj. I don't spin at clubs or anything like that. 2-6 am isn't so bad, I get 5 hours of sleep before my first class.

Cool, I always thought it would be cool to do radio broadcasting, but I'd probably end up just confusing the hell out of everyone. Hey, better to be good at something then nothing, right? What are some of the top requested rock bands in Chicago?

damn, hell if I know. I get requests all across the board: from 1964-present.

Is there a co-host, with you or are you alone? Have any other TF:TM songs at the station?
Big Grim
Jan 11 2005, 08:25 PM
I host by myself. Screamer and other TFans kept asking me to play songs off TF:TM soundtrack, so I bought it myself. So the station doesn't have any TF songs.

I'm not in Chicago, but here are the chart toppers from Q101(which, as far as I can tell, is the rock station):

we don't play the crazy stuff like Manson or Slipknot since this is a Methodist based college. I've been doing this since fall of '03

Well my requests would probably go anywhere from mid 60's mid 90s.

Anything vintage/classic is fine by me. What are five of the most requested songs, or bands.

yeah, some idiots that have had too much beer, or too much weed, will request stuff that clearly isn't rock. Like Nsync or Britney Spears. Other times, girls would flirt over the phone just to get me to play their requests.

I don't think people understand that you just do one show a week on a non-profit college station.

Edit: Rereading that, it sounds a little harsh. Grim is hella lucky to have 4 hours a week on a major market radiostation.
