THE STIG
i just got back from watching white noise in the theater... the movie primarily deals with the phenomenon where ghosts or spirits from the "other side" make contact with u through everyday devices... radio, cell, tv... microwave whatever..

the movie is a great movie to take a date with and cuddle up next to while she screams or gets shocked by the eerie sounds and chilling cut scenes.

this movie may not get u all hyped up like the blair witch project but it got me thinkin 'bout ghosts n stuff... the movie has a grudge/ring likeness (with the cellphones n tv's) and if you aren't into the latest craze in thriller films then u might think this movie is dumb OR if u seen the ring/grudge then u might say we'll thats predictable/ and its getting old....

but me having seen all of ringu n t3h ring, the japanese n american grudge... i can't get enough of stuff like this...

(options) u can wait till this comes out on netflicks n watch this on your own OR take a date with u... just for kicks thumbsup1.gif

i liked the movie n u should go watch it too clap.gif

acting: good
sound: excellent
visuals:excellent
story: good/ watch with open mind and dont compare this to anything u seen to enjoy

was it worth my $9.25: i shoulda seen this in an imax theater... (sony metreon @ sf)

Well obviously.

Hollywood can't duplicate ghost talk.

Not to sound like a hater, but Ju'On was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I really liked the Ring and it's nu-horror style. I couldn't detect something that even minorly resembled a plot in Ju'On, and most of my friends said the Grudge was the same way.

The grudge was predictable and really needed an added gore effect. Suspense is good, but suspense AND horror is what really puts people overboard.

I saw a japanese movie called "The Audition" which was fairly slow (lead actor was the police detective from the Grudge) but had some VERY memorable horror scenes\sound effects. I will never look at wires or needles the same way again.

I also really enjoyed "Saw". The acting wasn't great, and Danny Glovers character did bring it down a notch, but it was a really great story that slowly unravelled with a REALLY awesome ending. Probably the best horror movie I've seen in a long time, again, just because it was such a great story.

BUT, back to the topic at hand, from those who have seen "White Noise", is it worth paying $20 to see it in the theaters? Or are there any other horror/suspense flicks I should catch instead?

Yup, Ju-On was just an excuse to put a lot of "shock" horror scenes in the movie. The background of the characters were never explained and the plot was all over the place. At least the U.S. version tried to fix up the storyline and put some actual characters to focus on.
