That's what it sounds like, and I think they're pro-rating it somewhat if your membership was about to expire.
You have to have "membership credit due" from the old club, which has to be verified by Hasbro.

yeah, based on quotes like " For example. If you signed up with us and your end date is 1/01/06, we would extend your membership end date to 1/01/07." leads me to believe that you only get into the new club free if you are currently (or were currently) a member of the old one, regardless of the fact that you may have been a member at some point

My prediction for the figure: the "other" superion.

Jan 5 2005, 11:14 PM
I barely care about the "other Superion" now, let alone in 2010! Maybe 2010 is some kind of hint to that series.
The only thing I could stand to wait that long for would be a diecast, articulated Dinobot Combiner.
I haven't been in a "fan club" before but $40 seems kind of pricey for a newsletter...although I guess $200 would be acceptable to pay for an exclusive Combiner...an exclusive Dinobot Combiner that is!
...hmm Alt jets, helicoptors, & trucks coming out...can you say Alt Bruticus!
If they release details soon, and it's worthwhile (E. Superion would certainly not be), I'm sure they'll get plenty of people to join/rejoin

Jan 6 2005, 05:00 AM
Don't expect to see new molds for the combiner. It's just too expensive to create five new molds and 'give' them away as a nice bonus with your membership. Maybe they'd do unreleased molds that would later on be comercially available, but that's the best I can think of. My guess would be a recolour. Maybe G2 Menasor?
Rawhide
Jan 6 2005, 05:09 AM
Don't think I'll join this club. The $ 90 membership fee (international) is a bit too expensive for my taste. Don't think you get enough to warrant the membership fee ($ 40 maybe, but not $ 90).
Considering the fanclub/convention figs of previous clubs (BotCon & OTFCC), there's very little doubt in my mind this will be a repaint of an existing mold. Which one, will be obvious when the first limb is available.
Drewbie
Jan 6 2005, 05:20 AM
I assume the combiner would be an original mold, or else they'd give it all out at the same time. If you got a repainted limb of the superioron this year, would you sign up again? No. I bet that it's not related to energon, as Energon will (hopefully) be forgotten by 2010. It will either be something very new, or something very classic. My bet: Prediking. Hasbro never reissued it, so why not do it this way?

Exactly. Just sign up and see what the first limb is before anyone complains. Either you get it and say "oh crap in a hat, it's a repainted Blast-Off" and are out of 40 bucks, or you find its a new mold and keep going. Don't get pissed off before you know, people.

Well, it's NOT going to be brand new molds, lets just realize that. At 40 bucks a year per unit (and really less after you add in how much the newsletter itself runs) they're simply not going to make enough money to make a wholey new engineered gestault feasible with the number of people in the club and the number of units produced. Might see some minor retooling, like new heads or new energon weapons. Maybe. Personally, I'm want to say a Franken-Energon combiner is most likely-- perhaps one of each Bruticus limb, and one of each of Superions or something.

Would be nice but has anyone thought that it may be an ALT GESTALT? I'm thinking that if (and I hope that Hasbro will not disappoint us) they are going to make an offer like this, they may pull out all the big guns and make an ALTENATOR GESTALT. Maybe MENASAUR? Would make sence if they need so much time to make the main body. Maybe the most perfect MOTORMASTER we've seen yet? But then again I'm only speculating ...dreaming a little actually. Would be worth the price of admission in my opinion.

That sounds like Hasbro dosen't even have enough money to put shirts on their backs. I think at this point that there will be a lot more in shameless promotion, especially with the fandom continually growing at a nice rate. I vote that we'll be seeing something new and the $40 per year won't make too much of a difference.

Wouldn't that be the coolest thing EVER??!!!
Oh well...here's to hoping...but I don't expect something that awesome.
In the VERY BEST case...I expect a repaint of a planned future toy-group from a toyline that they are doing after Galaxy Force/Cybertron. they may even have a few molds ready to roll already and such. Now even that seems a bit far-fetched.
And the "OTHER" Superion is from the Super-Link show. He was killed pretty early on I think.

It's possible SG...I hope not personally...I'd rather have a nice Uniform Gestalt.
If they repainted Energon Devastator or Bruticus in a solid, nice color scheme instead of the crappy mix-matched beast they are, I'd love that and would feel pretty well satisfied. Even though I hope it's a GF/Cybertron gestalt.

In the episode of Energon that first introduces the combiners, there are 4 statues. 2 are re-animated into Devastator (Buildron/Constructicon Maximus) and Bruticus, and 1 is re-animated into Superion. The 4th statue however, crumbles, and dies in the process, but in the shots of it before the re-animation process, it looks just like a clone of Superion. Some assume it was Superion's brother, who could be released later as a repainted Superion

If we were actively placing bets, I'd say a completely G1-accurate recolor of one of the Energon gestalts its what we'd get. I guess they could make the Constructicons orange vs yellow if they used that one.
I didn't say it was a GOOD idea, just what I'd expect.

Which is why I think it'll be something timeless. It won't be an Energon repaint, and it's not something from Cybertron either. I still say it's Predaking. Although the alternator combiner is a nice wish, I doubt that would be an exclusive. It'd bring in too much $$ in a wide release.
Just a thought--What happens to the people who join up in 2006? Do they just miss out? The more I think about it, the more I don't think this "piece per year" gestalt is a good idea.

Sounds very interesting, makes me wish I had the cash to spare for a five year membership

As for who the combiner is, I'm gonna guess its gonna take different members from the three Energon combiner teams, throw in some remolds and create a new character or maybe Computron? I dunno, either way, its an exciting prospect!

Also wouldn't be suprised if pics emerged soon, these new guys probably know that pics would speak a thousand words (and the opening of wallets everywhere) in this fandom

The problem is that we all look at it like "join up and after 5 years you get a figure, an awesome combiner figure", when they want us to (and we should) feel like "$40 gets me an exclusive newsletter, comic, package reductions for the convention, an a figure...and after 5 years, the added bonus of being able to combine them into a gestalt."
It really is worth the price (as long as it ain't some stupid Energon combiner).

Since this Collector's club will be mostly G1 fans(The last Botcon Convention had over 4,000 attendees & had a G1 theme w/ a majority of G1 patrons over 18)
Why not give us a die-cast combiner G1 Dinobot or better yet just scrap that combiner idea & give us

http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~sstoneb...tcon_arcee.htmlOR THIS:
http://www.bigbot.com/custom-figures/quintesson/Let's Face it, isn't that what any G1 fan really wants? It would be nice to see a G1 Homage for the exclusive, but if my ideas never make it to the collectors club exclusive, will Fans of G1 get what they've been waiting 20 years for to be released? Does Hasbro or Takara know fans are dying to get these two pieces officially made(I know the dinobot combiner will never happen)? If Hasbro can not make these two pieces, will someone pass this on to Takara to make it for us?
I hope Hasbro/Takara takes their Transformers fans requests seriously, without us, there could be no ongoing Transformers line. We support you guys, but you guys need to listen to us, so that we may continue to support the Transformers line, so that it may continue to exist for future generations ;-)
Without Hasbro/Takara listening to the fans, it could spell disaster for the company(ie.- {hint}, the Movie!), as fans get frustrated by not getting what they want, they could stop buying all together. Please make the toys the fans want, put us first, & we will continue to support you :-) It just makes financial sense to listen to the G1 Fans, b/c they are old enough to buy they're own toys & make decisions on purchasing a toy line, esp. at higher price points(alts/Binal Tech), thus earning Hasbro or Takara a higher profit. I know plenty of fans who would definitely spend huge sums of cash for those two pieces, it they were to be mass produced(Namely me, for one!!). Thank you for listening.

Designers spelled "Member" wrong, too, on the sign up button, but that's nitpicking... a bigger problem is when clicking the button, you only receive the radio buttons to select your membership (you have to highlight the page to read it...) If you click the TF logo at the top then you receive the writing on a white background... it adds up to the larger issues I mentioned previously... Looks like the Site is still a work in progress (hopefully).
