His alternate mode looks a lot like a Sith Infiltrator, and for those that don't know what that is, it's the ship that Darth Maul drove in Ep. 1

Also looks like they got influence from Vandread for his robot mode (which btw is made by Gonzo animation too)

Actually, it's in the right place I think. It's not about the toy itself, but the character's choice of alternate mode. The picture of the toy in alt mode is th only one at the moment.

it also kinda reminds me of the Axalon, the Maximal's ship in Beast Wars. But it looks more like a Sith Infiltrator than it does the Axalon. I didn't notice that before, kudos for pointing that out

Actually when I first saw the early pictures for vector prime and his ship mode it reminded me of Arbulus' and Kranix's ship When it was seen escaping from unicron in Transformers:The movie

Yeah! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw Vector Prime, actually, was how he looked like Darth Maul's ship. I thought the Infiltrator was the best new ship design in Ep 1 (Amidala's ship was nice too, but it looked too much like the X-men's Blackbird jet). It's too bad we never got to see the Infiltrator fight or really DO anything, but that was the least of that movie's faults IMO...

Off topic a bit, does anyone else think this guy might get a name change in Cybertron? I'm thinking that in JP prime=convoy, but this guy's not a convoy, so it wouldn't really make sense to have him as a prime, would it?

Well, in JP, Rodimus Convoy just got shortened to Rodimus for American release, so maybe since Vector doesn't exactly sound good, Hasbro will release it under a new name, but his character will be something like Rodimus.

I hope it's not like Rodimus and I actually don't mind the Vector part, since it's not common in the TF world.

In reality, the only "Vector" I know of is Vector Sigma, the computer on Cybertron.

Sorry, I should have said Vector would be unique in the "Cybertron" version of GF.

I like the name Vector, but it seems too short. I kind of hope they don't call him Vector Sigma, though. It would sound okay, but it wouldn't really make sense. I could see some spin on A3's name being used, though. I'm sure it'll probably be either Alpha-something or Vector-something.

I wonder if this will mean lawsuits against Hasbro/Takara. The similarities between both designs are dangerously close for comfort. Personally I think Vector Prime is cool in both modes and a solid buy. I only hope he doesn't disappoint like Energon Jetfire.. Well, the name Vector Prime was trademarked by Hasbro a long time ago, so this guy's name will probably remain Vector Prime.

I noticed the similarity the first time I sawa the first pictures of this figure, and it only served to make me even more interested in this guy.

I just remembered. I have a Star Wars book named "Vector Prime." weird huh.

i don't think there will be any lawsuits, you guys are forgetting hasbro makes the starwars toys..... maybe they'll do a x-wing transformer now, that'd be cool, so from snowcat of gijoe to the infiltrater of starwars, i like the cross over of brands, great minds at times

There won't be any lawsuits because:

1. Takara is in Japan, not the US and I doubt Star Wars Vector Prime came out over there.

2. Hasbro has yet to name the US counterparts of these characters.

Plus. Star Wars: Vector Prime has nothing to do with Hasbro, since it's copyright holders are LucasArts and PocketBooks. So in order for Hasbro to use the name (if it falls into that category) then they will have to reach a deal. And since Hasbro is so buddy-buddy with LucasArts, I am sure they will work something out. Either that or he won't even be called Vectorprime in the US!

He's loosely based on the " Last Autobot" who appeared at the veryend of the marvel transformers #80.

His alt mode resembling maul's ship is just a nice coincidence

i'm betting that there's no coincidence, unless snowcat was too, but he was a gijoe vehicle, hasbro makes the toys for starwars, heck they dressed up a Storm Shadow like one of the statues i'm not sure which one it was, so know it's no big deal and probably no coincidence that he's a starwars vehicle.
