Big Grim
Not only is the Age of Apocalypse going to be collected in a series of trades, but that reality still exists. March is pretty much AoA month: the first trade is released, as well as one of those Marvel U Handbooks with profiles on over 40 AoA characters, but there's also a one-shot that shows how Magneto and the others survived the nuclear assault at the end of X-Men: Omega. And there's also a 6 part X-Men: Age of Apocalypse mini that will be released weekly (yes, weekly) throughout March into April. Also, in March's issues of Exiles, Blink and the others return to the AoA universe and Sabretooth makes an appearance. I'm telling you, March is gonna bleed my funds dry. This is friggin sweet! Is anyone else as psyched about this as I am?!
Taz-bot
Man, my brother is going to be thrill about this. March is going to be a dark month for my wallet.
jazz1914
word! i'm psyched too!
Tantrum
I loved AoA. One of the best things marvel did.

Marvel's really looking to drain my funds lately. All those What if? books coming out next week and now an AoA focus. I'll be broke in no time.
Big Grim
I figured something like this was coming when Dark Beast showed up in Excalibur. But I never imagined they'd continue that storyline. It's weird, lately Marvel's been doing stuff that I've wanted them to do: X-Men in costumes, and "good" Magneto, more focus on Spider-Man's rogues, Dream's End trade, Maximum Carnage trade. Now if only they'd collect more X-stories from the late 90's. Actually, I hear from my sources that that is a possibility. Here's hoping. But damn, AoA. I just about creamed my shorts when I saw the solicitations in Previews.
Starscreamer
who will be writing the AoA books?
And didn't Sugar Man cross into our reality? what happened to him? I think AoA had THE best Sinister design ever actually
megagalvatron
Man I can't wait for this. I've known about the return to this reality and could wait then. I really can't wait for the trade as I can't remmember when I was a kid (about 12) I had no idea what was going on (as I couldn't buy all the comics I wanted every month) and just heard about all the X-Men comics being canceled and was rumblecry.gif . Then when the "New" (AOA) X-Men comics came out I was lost and even sadder. I got all of one issue of Astonishing and then the return to the original realitiy X-Men Prime. It wasn't untill about 4 years ago that I wanted to read them all (due to the Blink mini I was reading at the time and the start of a new comic staring hear called Exsiels) and brought what I could (Weapon X, Factor X, Astonishing X-Men, Amazing X-Men, and Alpha and Omege) and had no idea about how many comics there really were (I thought I had most of them). Man I can't wait for this trade clap.gif clap.gif . And I really can't wait for the return to the original AOA (anyone remmember the crappy return they tried before that had nothing to do with the original AOA, man did that suck hard thumbsdown.gif ). Can't wait clap.gif
Big Grim
what previous return to AoA are you talking about?

optimuslaugh2.gif Kinda proves my point no one bought these. I don't remmember why it happened (think it had something to do with the 12) but it had nothing to do with the old Age of Apocalpse other than name. The Wolverine issue that was part of this (Only issue that I have that deals with this as at the time I only Collected Spidey and anything that had him in it) had Him, The Hulk, Gost Rider, and Spider-Man, back as the FF (as in this reality they never stoped being the FF). Again I'm not sure what was up with these as my collection of X-Men is kinda fragmented at this time. I know they did keep there numbering and titles (unlike the Original AOA were the titles changed name and become number 1's). If there are any X-Men scholors out hear maybe they could shead more lite on this than I can (sorry about that).
Big Grim
oh, I know what you're talking about. Yeah, it was during the Twelve arc. Sometime in the last half I think. But I don't know what happened in that arc other than Cyclops "died." I know Magneto and xavier were part of the Twelve, who were the other ten?
Thunderdirge
Let's see...

Magneto
Xavier
Cyclops
Cable
Phoenix
The Living Monolith
Bishop
Polaris
Havok
Mikhail Rasputin
Storm
Iceman
Sunfire

And Nate Grey, X-Man, was to be Apocalypse's host body when Cyclops took his place. Nate was the "Thirteenth".
Thunderdirge
***from UXN.net***

This is what the Twelve did, indeed, fully do.

He wants to bundle the Twelve’s energies through the Living Monolith and send them into Nate Grey, who shall become his new host body. In his engine, Magneto and Polaris represent opposing magnetic poles, Storm, Iceman and Sunfire are extreme forces of nature, Mikhail and Bishop provide control over space and time, Xavier is the power of mind, and Jean, Scott and Cable represent the unity of family.
Big Grim
cool, thanks for the info. I just wish Marvel would release that story in trade. Along with Onslaught, Hunt for Xavier, Fatal Attractions, etc.
Starscreamer
ehh...I found the whole 12 thing a MAJOR dissapointment...mostly because look, we got Cyclops right back...eh...Change the X universe forever it didn't...
Now Fatal Attractions would definitly be cool. It had true repurcusions! Colossus joining the Acolytes (he was with them for quite a bit), Xavier taking down Magento by draining his mind...and that gave us Onslaught...and of course the whole Wovlerine thing. I KNOW when we all read those issues fresh out of the comic store we were like...."no way...no freaking way!" and that spawned some of the coolest wolvie stories!
Big Grim
Fatal Attractions, Age of the Apocalypse, and Onslaught all made us go "Holy S***!" when we first read em.
Starscreamer
I loved AoA...but man the lead in story with Legion...my problem is that the M'kraan crystal was such a cop out to end somethings...X Force was actually having a decent story arc with Reinfire that just...ended. Never did find out what happened after that...
Big Grim
whatever happened with the M'kraan crystal anyway? Why was it crystallizing everything, and wasn't it doing the same thing in the AoA universe.
Starscreamer
see? they just let it drop...there are more lose ends in the x universe than any other I think...
Big Grim
no, just Marvel U in general optimuslaugh2.gif

This week's Comic Shop News has some details about what is coming out. It looks like Holocaust is going to be added to the Exiles line up and should make for some interesting stories.

yeah, that was outlined in the newsarama article I posted the link too. Sabretooth's joining the line-up as well.
Tantrum
I'm looking forward to the AoA handbook too. I'm really just a sucker for alternate realities.
Big Grim
I'm looking forward to detailed profiles on the characters as well and get a little backstory on how history changed for each X-Man from the point of Xavier's death. I was always confused as to why Wolverine's hand never grew back, he has a healing factor.
Scott 3.0
There was a line in one issue that sounded like he deliberately had the "cap" put on before the hand could grow back, so that it wouldn't cliffjumper.gif Seems like it would anyway and knock the "cap" off, though...

Theories, anyone, on why he'd do it? "Battle scar"? No Adamantium in a regrown hand, therefore a "weak spot"?
Big Grim
well he had the claws, as we saw in the final issue Weapon X. The claws came through the "cap."
Tantrum
Maybe there was nothing for it to regrow back from. Cyclops pulverized the thing afterall. Plus it was another way to make him "different" from regular Wolverine.

They really don't play his healing factor up as a regeneration tool like Deadpool's is, but it would really have to be, wouldn't it? All the times he's had organs destroyed or flesh stripped he would have to regrow whole organs or limbs. However, I don't think they've ever shown him regrowing limbs without the bones, and if Cyclops destroyed his hand and scattered the bones there would be nothing for the flesh to regrow on.
Big Grim
after Magneto removed the adamantium from his skeleton, his bone claws regrew every time they broke.
Starscreamer
well the "roots" of his claws were still there. Like when you break your arm. If it was a clean blast, cauterized and everything I can't see how it would heal.
Deadpool's healing factor is actually different from Wolverine's. While based on his, it is jacked up. Hence why he is mostly scar tissue. It has to be because it is fighting his cancer (or was, I think the Cancer was burned out when he took that swim in the reactor).
Big Grim
then explain why Wolverine still had the claws even though his hand was gone.
Scott 3.0
They never showed it, so I just assumed it was unexpected (yeah, I know, his sense of smell, but even he can be distracted) and the claws were "in" at the time...

His claws were in his forearm at the time and not exposed. The muscles and tendons that work them are in the forearm not his hand.
Big Grim
you're wrong; YOU'RE ALL WRONG!!! grimlocklaugh.gif

ummm...grim...it is a known fact the claws are in the forarms...

I can't wait. This was the series that drew me into the X-world, and I can't get enough alternate reality stories.
Big Grim
same here, I really didn't start paying attention to X-Men until this happened.
Tantrum
It really made the titles after the AoA more accessable. Fresh jumping on points and all that.

Plus the fact that it was great pretty much all around didn't hurt either.
Krusty The Klown
must add to list
eh ill do it tommorow
